A good TRUCK based SUV

This is a very reliable SUV. Nothing has broke or failed. At 60K miles only fluid/filter changes have been needed. Acceleration, handling and braking are Ok for this niche type vehicle. 4WD is good snow, it is a part time system that requires the driver to turn on when needed. The engine has low end grunt but does not like to rev over 3500 rpm. Commuting 30 miles daily with some stop and go yields 19.3 mpg on regular gas. Seats are firm and may irritate on a longer trip. My dog loves to hang his head out of the open tailgate glass!

I am an original owner. Vehicle now has over 310000 km and it is still the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. Never had a single break down, never seen the inside of garage except for tires, breaks and oil changes. I fully expect to drive this another 2-300km as I am fully confident in my 4Runner. Like I said best ever.

Back in a 4runner

I have had 4Runners in the past, so I knew I would be getting a quality product. I was right. I enjoy everything about the 4Runner. It is equally at home in "high society" or pulling a boat down a gravel road. I will say that I'm shocked at how harsh the media has been on this new model. IMO, that is due to the fact that most review agencies are centered in urban areas. They would prefer everyone drive compact cars, so they naturally prefer car based SUV's and have trouble understanding people that actually plan to use an SUV outside of grocery and soccer duty. Do not let subjective reviews get to you. They are comparing it to a car in every respect. It is not a "car".

Built like a Tank

I had a 2013 Toyota 4Runner. I loved the AUV. I was always a truck man. Due to having children, my Tacoma had to be traded in for this SUV. I had it for four years without a single problem, only had to do regular maintenance. Cut to September 22, 2020. I was on the interstate and a semi spun be out, then tboned my 4RUNNER and pushed me side ways for about a quarter of a mile. My 4RUNNER held up like a tank! It totaled my car, but I walked away with out a single injury. Well worth the investment and tough a hell. If you’re looking for a good SUV for you and your family strongly consider this vehicle.

Poor Over Road Ride

I just purchased a New 2012 4runner Limited. I purchased the Limited over the SR5 because it was supposedly smoother riding. The vehicle pulses through the steering wheel at all speeds. I spoke to Toyota and had it back to the dealership twice. They both told me that it was a truck and that is the way it rides and I should live with it. I owned 12 new trucks before this and none rode this bad, of course none were a Toyota. I personal feel that it is th 20" wheels and tires that they put on this vehicle. They are hard riding and poor handling. I am limited to 2 tire manufacturers with these wheels so i can not even buy touring tires.
