Used 2015 Subaru Outback Consumer Reviews
Second Outback Unreliable
We replaced our 2012 Outback with a 2015 purchased late 2014. Overall, we liked the 2015 better than the 2012, especially with improvements made to the CVT transmission. I hated the 2012 CVT. It always felt like it was a traditional automatic that kept slipping and the engine noise and whining was annoying as it accelerated. Shortly before one year was up the 2015 would not start regularly. Engine would turn, though it sounded oddly different than the traditional engine turning over, but it wouldn't start. Wait 15 or 20 minutes and it would start. Took it in to the dealer. They couldn't replicate it. This continued on and it became increasingly difficult to get it to start up. Took it in again and left it with them for a week so they could replicate it. They couldn't replicate the problem. This was my wife's car and the dealer suggested that maybe it was her. No, sorry about that, it happened to me as well. I was told to contact Subaru America, which I did. I was told they would investigate and possibly send a factory technician to look at my vehicle. No one showed up. Only received a letter from the factory saying the "vehicle functions as intended." They couldn't help us. Gee, thanks for your help. Since this was my wife's vehicle, it needs to be reliable. It wasn't so I dumped it at a Ford dealership and got a Ford Edge. Ironically, it ended up being wholesaled out to a Subaru dealer. How sad. Subaru has lost me as a customer. Love the Ford Edge. Bigger, more comfortable and frankly much better acceleration out the turbo 4. I lost my butt on the Subaru, but it saves me the aggravation of having to listen to my wife complain about the Subie. Worth the loss.

crap battery standard equipment
Only 365 cranking amps in this outback. Battery can go dead in one week without being driven. Dangerous situation if left at airport parking and you arrive late at night, not to mention big inconvenience when the car won't start. On going problem with this that they have refused to fix it!
