Used 2015 Subaru Outback Consumer Reviews
4th Subaru, 3rd Outback
BETTER than expected, across the board. Huge improvement over our 2009, which is a GREAT vehicle and still in the family. Eyesight is a MUST HAVE. Fuel economy was 24-25 overall on our 2009, 29-30 overall on this 2015. HUGE improvement in the Auto climate control. We have almost 15,000 miles on her now, and we are elated. We also pull a medium sized tent camper, and the CVT performance has exceeded our wildest expectations. Build quality was PERFECT, no issues at delivery, a first for us! 23,000 miles now, and still AWESOME. Really impressive in the snow and ice. We are Subarued for life. UPDATE Request from Edmunds- 30450 miles. Only basic maintenance required. Minor issue with the power tailgate with EXCELLENT support from Subaru. OUTSTANDING winter performance. We LOVE the navigation. Best car we have ever owned.

Great cargo room, but ...
Finishing my third year of driving my first Subaru. Will not buy this car after the lease ends. The driver seat is not comfortable for a big person (6'1, 245) , as the wings come forward and force me towards the door if I don't want to get poked in the back. I also don't know where all these folks are getting great gas mileage, because I'm lucky to get 22 around town and maybe the upper 20's on a long trip. For comparison, I get 25-26 on my Toyota Avalon and 31 highway with a 3.5 liter V6. The winter snow capability is average, but hardly compares to my old Jeep Cherokee with 4wd. The transmission is very sluggish when it's cold, and I am unhappy with the 4 cylinder pickup when accelerating from a stop if you have to pull out with some muscle. Not to be all negative, though, the cargo room is excellent, and the seats fold almost flat. There is over 6 feet of usable cargo length, a rarity in this size SUV.

Dead Battery Again!!
This is the third time my battery has died for no apparent reason. Two times were just after pumping gas at the gas station. I pumped the gas and pressed the ignition button, as usual, but it just died. Nothing was plugged in. Radio was on, but that was nothing new. The first two times, it was jumped off pretty easily, but this last time, it took a while to get the battery alive enough to start the car. I took it to Advance Auto parts for a battery check. Aside from being quite suprised at the low battery amps (356) that comes with the car, the guy said the battery checked out fine. After further research, it seems that Subaru uses a lightweight battery that supports the bells and whistles, but not the engine. I would much rather have a dependable battery that supports the engine than all the USB chargers and stuff that are luxury items.
