Great car

This is an amazingly fun car to drive. It has ample power and just sticks to the road. My wife complains that I like driving the suby way more than my own Acura MDX (which is almost $18,000 more). Excellent build quality. Overall solid car

Highway fuel economy horrendous

Ater 1000 miles I drove from CO to MO (875 miles). To my dismay I recorded an average of 22 mpg fuel economy on the highway, but the estimated fuel economy by manufacturer was estimated at 28 mpg. I calculated the mpg by averaging 4 fuel stops through Kansas where the roads are flat and straight. I'm an engineer so I looked at all the variables. My tire pressure was perfect, there was a small cross wind (no tail or head wind), I used the recommended fuel, there was no load on the car(two medium sized suitcases & no passengers), cruise control was on, speed was 75 mph, and outside temp was 40 degrees(i.e no air conditioner)

A fun car, with better than quoted fuel economy ( 23-24 mpg generally) very comfortable drive.

16 years on and still going strong

My Outback is 16 1/2 years old now, but still only has 97,000 miles on it. I've had to make 3 repairs on it so far. The first was a CV joint failure, and something was leaking around the spark plug. The last one was an exhaust sensor that went up. All totaled, probably $600 in repairs. This really isn't mechanical, but I had to replace the stereo speakers last year too. The only persistent annoying problem is that my left headlight goes out on about an annual basis. Something obviously isn't right there. Bottom line, I've been very pleased with the car, and body-wise, it still looks great!

Another good Subaru

I am generally happy with this car. It gives me the cargo capacity that I need and is also useful as a passenger car. My car is a 4-cylinder and it seems a little weak on acceleration and going up hills. This can be particularly annoying when trying to merge onto the highway. Probably the 6-cylinder engine is best on this vehicle.
