Great Little Ride
This little car car has a smooth comfortable ride and its maneuverability is great. It's tiny and cute outside, but has plenty of room for adult passengers in the front and back inside. Its large window area makes for really good view out of rear when backing. Driving the xA is a joy!
Best car I've ever owned in over 50 years :)
I bought my Scion Xa brand new in 2006, and 13 years later I reluctantly sold it for a larger vehicle as I'll be traveling cross country and may live in the car part time. It only ever required standard maintenance and never gave me an ounce of trouble. For a small engine I found it to be zippy enough, and for a small car, it held a surprising amount of cargo. I moved several times and people couldn't believe the stuff I got in there. Plus, you can tuck that baby into the tiniest parking space. I live in Vermont and never got stuck in snow or mud or ever had a problem starting it. Great gas mileage, and the parts, such as tires, are super economical. Very comfy driver's seat (disclosure: I'm 5' 3"). On top of that, she was cute as a button.

Great car bought used in 08 Low maintenance fees
Hardly any mechanical issues. Go any where in snow with snow tires. 27 mpg in summer. Easy to park and to get around in. Good car to teach kids how to drive. The mechanics love the shape of my car! Get oil changes (3 to 5K) and change spark plugs (every 60 k) and you will have a runner. I have 190k miles now...Update: December 2018, I now have over 200K. I replaced the starter (@$115) and catylitic converter ($250). Car is still on the road and fine.

My Little Rollerskate
I really like my Scion xA's good gas mileage, Its leg room equals or is better than the Toyota Sienna's. I am tall, it is becoming my favorite.
Choose Options Carefully
Overall, the driving experience is a lot of fun as most of the reviewers have already said. The performance and handling are surprising given the statistics of the vehicle. Be wary of what options you pick from the dealer as they drive up price quickly and may not be the best value. More aftermarket options are available. The subwoofer was especially disappointing. It is overpriced at $425, it takes up most of cargo space, and it is way too BOOMY.
