I have had my Mini a year now. I continue to be very impressed with the handling and the quality of the interior. Everything feels well-built and solid. The turbo is smooth and the brakes are nice. Loving the hatchback.

I love the car it is fun to drive quick and nimble and I happen to think it's cute too! But it's not the cheapest compact you can buy and the quality for the price really is not there. I wish that they would put as much pride and quality into the car as it desearves.

Update at 18 months. I did have an upper engine mount replaced at 60000 miles. A known issue up to 2019 that usually failed under warranty if you drive higher miles. Averaging 46mpg. I continue to look forward to my drive to and from work every day. I can either just cruise and try and get good mileage or keep up in the fast lane. Excellent winter car with winter tires. Deep slush is a challenge but I’ll be switching to all weather tires that do better with rain and water on my next set. A large snow ridge did send my car sideways merging on the freeway at 55mph but the quick steering and excellent stability control got it back under control. Update at 1 year 25000 miles later it’s still a joy to drive. I commute 97mi round trip between Colorado Springs to Denver. I average 42-46mph with the altitude (thinner air) despite the high speeds they drive out west. Cruise at 75-85, sometimes 90-95 at times. Very stable. Not the quietest car but comparable to other smaller cars overall. Engine is very smooth and quiet. Almost too quiet. The car is so so tosseable. Just throw it in a turn and it slides just skittle nice and predictable. Very quick steering but not too twitchy on the freeway. Very stable at high speeds. One finger driving 80 and under. Winds don’t affect it as much as expected. Winter driving with winter tires is excellent. You can flick steering to slide the tee just a little if needed. Best FWD traction of any war I’ve owned. Bigger snow storms are fluffy so inbevr had and issue even in 8” of snow. It will hydroplane in deep slush like any lighter car. I did have one engine mount failing at 60k miles. A known issue. So well known that BMW should just offer at least a parts warranty on it for 10 years 100k. Added a CarPlay module which integrates well. Other wise no real complaints other than since we don’t take family trips (3 people) that often I should haven it’s gotten the 2 door. Although the extra 2-3” of cargo space has been useful. So maybe not. Still the best seats of any car I’ve owned. My first mini. Used 2016 4 door hardtop. 1.5t, 6 speed manual, loaded package (includes sport package, HK stereo and navigation). Sport seats fit perfect except I like a tad more lumbar. Really hug you. Seating position is on the floor but it’s height adjustable. Plenty of headroom at 6’0” tall. Have the seat a good 1” above the minimum. Clutch has a long throw and pickup is near the floor. It’s a little heavy for a small engine IMO. So you end up moving the seat a little closer than you would in an automatic. Gearbox has slightly long throws but smooth engagement and good feel. Throttle is very smooth and progressive. Brakes aren’t grabby. Very easy manual to drive. Plenty of torque right off idle from 1300rpm up. Above 2500 you really spin the tires in first gear if you get on it. Not much turbo lag. Steering is just the right weight and very very quick. Makes it super fun around town. No too twitchy on the freeway. Very little body roll and it just seems to have tons of grip. When it slides you can really feel it and it’s nice and even. Just a ton of fun and really engaging. The engine is super smooth and almost too quiet. Only a little growl above 3000rpm. Never sound buzzy or thrash. The growl sounds just like 1/2 of the bmw in-line 6. Ride is actually pretty good overall even on bad roads. I have the 16” non run flat touring tires. At freeway speed wind noise is subdued engine is barely audible at a low 2500rpm at 80mph. Gearing is about perfect. 1st is nice a low 2nd splits the difference and 3rd is tall enough to use from 20-50mph and the engine is so smooth you don’t feel like you need to shift Screen controls and features are the best of any car I’ve driven. I’d still prefer CarPlay for most things and the mini connect was made obsolete in 2021 due to 4g cell networks. So navigation isn’t as good as it could be. Loving in Denver it’s the ultimate commuter and weekend fun car combined. Amazing on mountain backroads, average 43mpg in fast Denver traffic. Handing is very predictable. You can slide is nicely and it will even kick the rear out a little when pushed. In winter it’s excellent with a set of winter tires/wheels. Perfect snap oversteer if you want it and can feel the limit very easily. Only better winter car I’ve owned was a ‘15 Audi Q5 also on winter tires, and this car is close. Even 12-18” drifts aren’t an issue. Just digs right through. Plenty of luggage room for groceries and my 13yo daughter doesn’t mind the back seat for longer drives. She likes the rear sunroof too. It really is a luxury sub compact economy sport family hatchback. .

2015 JCW 2 dr convertible owner. Really great car! I'm not sure how I could ever become a non-Mini-driver now in terms of feeling the drive. Punchy acceleration and wonderful cornering; whipping through traffic and easy to park. What's not to like?

Fun to drive, plenty of room except for the back seat. I’m 6’3” both front seats have good legroom. Fold down back seats make it easy to load a wheel chair through the hatch.
