Best Benz.....Ever

The S class is always considered the "best" Benz, well this EQS in 580 form is better than its internal combustion counterpart in every way except one, as a limousine. Its faster, handles better, is quieter, and brakes significantly better. Its ride is as sublime as the gas model. Finally it aces its gas counterpart in the most important criteria of these vehicles, Its a better isolation chamber, the rest of the world around you disappears. All you hear is beautiful sounds from its excellent Burmester audio while wafting down the highway at any speed in utter comfort and safety. Its quite frankly a remarkable car in all respects, plus its an extraordinary EV as far as range, speed of charging and so on. It makes range anxiety an obsolete term.

We have owned the 450+ for 6 months (took 6 mos to get) and love it. Beautifully finished, extraordinarily comfortable - the luxury sedan we wanted. Traded in our Lexus LS which was 10 years old (and had 25,000 miles!) as we wanted electric and Lexus wasn't ready. UPDATE: This is our “city” car and we don’t put many miles on it - 5000 a year. We keep the car for at least 8 years so we decided we might as well take the leap to electric. We are well past retirement age. We installed a charger in our garage and it is a convenient breeze to charge which, for us, is only once a month or so. Our last two cars were LS lexus. We wanted luxury and have gotten it in spades. It is a beautiful car to drive (even back wheels turn making u turns easy). Outside of the fact it is almost like driving a computer, we love it. It is, obviously, so quiet and refined. The “heads up” feature is great and very graphic. There have been 0 problems in the over a year we have had it.

EQS 580 - A Mixed Bag of Innovation and Glitches

Likes: Interior Excellence: The inside of the EQS 580 is nothing short of luxurious. The seats provide unmatched comfort, and the overall ambiance inside the car is calming. Comfortable Ride: The car rides very smoothly, providing a serene driving experience that's unparalleled. Ambient Lighting: One of the highlights is the ambient lighting. It's simply mesmerizing and enhances the driving experience. Stunning Exterior: The car's exterior design is a head-turner. I've received countless compliments from strangers, which is always a nice ego boost. Heads-Up Display with AR: The augmented reality heads-up display is state-of-the-art and offers a futuristic driving experience. Hyperscreen: The hyperscreen is simply amazing to look at and elevates the dashboard's appeal. Disappointments: MBUX Voice Assistant: This feature is a letdown. It's unreliable and feels more like a beta version than a polished final product. Regenerative Braking: Noticed a gradual decline in the braking strength over just a few months. Screen Functionality: While the screen's size is impressive, its utility for entertainment is questionable. Watching popular streaming services like Netflix or Hulu is a drag due to the sluggish internet browser. Lane Assist Issues: The lane change assist is hit or miss, working effectively only half the time. It struggles even in areas where lane markings are strong. Auto Steering: This feature can be jarring. It disengages unexpectedly, especially on curves or poorly marked areas of the freeway. It's particularly unreliable on winding roads. Gesture and Voice Control: Trying to showcase the gesture and voice control features can be more embarrassing than impressive, given their inconsistency. Auto Braking Flaw: The unexpected braking in situations with no apparent obstruction is deeply concerning. This glitch has occurred multiple times, posing a safety risk. Low Front Bumper: The car's design has its drawbacks. The low bumper often clashes with parking stops or sidewalks. Profile and Seat Adjustments: The lack of key fob profile association means manually adjusting seats every time there's a driver switch – a hassle in a premium luxury car. Retractable Door Handle Concern: The door handle's auto-retract feature has proven to be a safety hazard, especially with young kids. My toddler almost got her fingers caught, raising questions about its design foresight. Customer Service Experience: Reporting these issues to EQS customer service led to a visit to the dealership. Unfortunately, the expertise to troubleshoot some of these complex concerns seems lacking. Even after a firmware update, many of the issues persist.

Best luxury EV on the market

Owned the model S and never liked the minimalistic ultra modern approach to $100k vehicle as well as was very unimpressed with the interior, paint and ride quality for the price. Needed a daily driver as have to drive 100 miles per day for business. Was a bit hesitant as it was a new concept for MB and those are known to have questionable reliability. The pros: amazing plush ride, impressive interior quality, better Wh/mile than wife’s much lighter and smaller Model 3, super useful trunk space and dropping rear seat if needed, adequate power and handling even though it is their “base” trim. Cons: laggy software/processor, a couple of interior rattles, can’t really think of anything else, just nitpicking. Breaks complaints are bogus. It is all about the regeneration settings. Change is to sport and test then. Huge disks and calipers, stops on the spot. Overall very satisfied and recommend to everyone to try before pulling the plug on the S-Class.

WORST CAR EVER MADE BY MERCEDES

Locked me out numerous times while i was loading the groceries in the back & closed to sit in the driver side with keys inside & they wont open remotely either now, wear & tear on the car is ridiculous 10-15k miles need breaks & tires r bold, only done by dealership so your out a few grand each time, the app to control the doors & engine never works EVER always says requesting so don't waste ur $$ subscribing! The keys fly off the blade bc the button to release is located where u grip with ur hand super dumb, cost $1,500 to replace & reprogram so they sell the casing now for $100. Trunk wont release half the time you have to force it to open. Drives nothing special especially since your brakes wear out at record speed i was told by mechanic in their dealership the battery was made too heavy for the vehicle thus causing all of this unnecessary spending to maintain it. Nail in the tire will cost your $500-$600 bc special system inside no tire shop would touch it to fix must be replaced! Finger print for ur profile stops working in like a week. Door handles pop out and stay open sometimes had to replace 2 of them already on separate occasions. Sensors are not as good as my previous car either inoperable or not functioning at the moment, had my old car 10 years not one problem S550 this worst nightmare of my life, it is not stable either slides when you break fast in the rain with new tires, yes i made sure I am a mechanics child grew up in shops all my life.

Best all around city, highway and country road driver ever!! Quiet, exceptional ride, exceptional handling, exceptional in negotiating tight city spaces (rear wheel steering!!!). Did I mention acceleration - impressive, especially for a 3 ton car. Not a race course car, but much better in non-race course driving - better overall than my E550 Cabriolet (no slouch), and faster. Much less costly to refuel (recharge) than a gas guzzler - around $5-7 per charge. Range on an 80% charge is 340 miles +. Range on a 100% charge is 450+. What more could you ask for?

Terrible brakes

The car rides smooth but brakes ate the worst. I was going about 60mph and had to suddenly stop. I was almost in the middle of the intersection before the car came to a complete stop. Also, the account blows as loud as an airplane engine. Even when I set the ac on a level 1 at 80 degrees during the summer. Customer service can't help much with this new car. Terrible car for the price.

I have owned Mercedes-Benz for over a decade, having every model they make. I was very anxious to get the eqs 450 Plus at the end of 2021, a 2022 model. It was in for a recall every month, the brakes were horrible, and the tires were the utmost worse. It is hard to believe that Mercedes as a manufacturer put such poor quality rubber, on such an expensive car. I sold it after 5 months. When the screen went totally down, and you were literally blind because everything worked on cameras. The dealer was reputable, but really didn't know what to fix. I further went with a Mercedes eqb and again taking a car designed for an ice engine, and making it into an EV, what's the poor way to approach the EV market. It doesn't did not even have power seats, only a backup camera, and regenerative braking was questionable. After owning 23 Mercedes-Benz, I left the eqb after 5 months and went with a Volvo c40 recharge, basically the same price range. A world of difference. Mercedes should get their act together as a high-end manufacturer and maybe take the lead from Volvo as they come up with their ex 30 and ex 90 next year. I don't know why they have been such a big failure so far but they may redeem themselves in the future.

While driving this car in someways feels like riding on a magic carpet, it has such dangerous actions where I felt my life was in danger. The local Mercedes dealer has worked on my car for weeks and they can’t fix it. I’ve only owned it for a few months, but I want my money back, all of it.

Very smooth ride and comfortable. Plush interior compared to my previous 2020 Tesla S long range. I have the pinnacle trim which is nice. Bought an adapter for my previously installed Tesla charger from Amazon. Still have a little range anxiety as I stepped down from a tesla. My only gripe is the brakes not being very sharp. Bought 3 days ago. Find myself driving more conservatively compared to the tesla which is good in my case!!

I bought a steeply discounted 580 EQS back in August with 4K miles. I had a few challenges initially even though the car was CPO. blow out of a tire. spontaneous opening of the charging door. a few weird messages on the screen that went away. None of these bother me because, it's an amazingly smooth driving, fast, comfortable electric car. Great effort. Looking forward to settling in for a while with this one.

…is as flawless as they can make them, all other EVs or ICEs included. Lucid could get there, provided it survives in the long-term. The others are however also-rans. This car routinely gets 380-420 miles per charge in the summer months and barely falls under 300 in colder temps (granted, I do not live in Minn). Fit/finish/NVH/tech/options/style/comfort/safety/ not to mention ride and handling - all 10s. Only thing I did is replace summer tyres with all-season ones. Nothing, but nothing has cropped up as an issue. Had this one since spring 22 and have yet to be summoned to a dealer for service. I am very skeptical about the naysayers with their laments about braking, etc. They need to spend some time learning the depths of this unique vehicle. This is not an assembly of parts from a shopworn bin; it is an organic whole that feels like part of you. I surmise M-B is likely losing a quarter mil on each $120K EQS it sells.

I am a diesel guy, that has become a Mercedes guy. I have a 2006 E320 CDI and a 2012 S350 BlueTEC 4matic. After several conversations with Tesla owners on EVs, I worked through my diesel love affair and figured out that the EVs had some similarities with diesels (love that torque) and my two issue left were "range anxiety" and longevity. The Mercedes have decent range, longer than my bladder, so probably can work through that. As far as longevity, Mercedes' batteries have a 10 year 150,000 mile warranty, at least this one does, I have seen conflicting things. Power train looks to be 50k. So, the battery warranty helps sell it, drive train maybe not, considering the torque I experienced driving it. So, speaking of driving it, went and drove a 2023 EQS 580. I was impressed. The torque was incredible and made my eyes go crosseyed, or gave me vertigo, not sure which, when the sales person said punch it after this next stop....WOW!...... Read the Edmunds review, it's spot on. It's really not an S class. It looks nice, but it's not as classic looking as the S class. It just doesn't seem as spacious, roomy or comfy, almost though. I am 6' 250 lbs and it was just under being "tight", really just were my knees were. It was comfortable and drove well. In the back seat, my head touched the ceiling, plenty of leg room though. The back seating area seemed "sparce". The front was incredible though, that massive "glass" dashboard and tech was great. Bottom line, if I didn't have perfectly functioning S350 diesel, that would last for another 100,000 miles, I would have bought it! I still might. It makes sense for the majority of my lifestyle.
