2025 Mazda CX-90 Consumer Reviews

Nice but does not compete with Premium brands
I read a few reviews stating that the CX-90 competes with premium brands and it does not. The ride quality is good but the acceleration is lacking compared to the GLC300 and the X3. I would imagine the CX-90 competes more with the X5 in size but I would not even remotely consider the CX-90 to be in the same class as the X5. The power and delivery of the B58 straight six is unrivaled in this class. The CX-90 electronics are lacking with no touch screen or wireless Android Auto or CarPlay. The shifter layout is funky and I can see new users stepping out with the vehicle in reverse. I had a sketchy incident with the car in EV mode. I was making a u-turn on snow and the touched the accelerator and the car almost spun out. It seemed to apply too much power even though I barely touched the throttle. It was fine when the engine was running. Aside from that, the CX-90 was very competent in the snow. My experience was in a week long Turo rental in the Rockies. I own a 23' X3 and drove a 23' GLC300 as well as a 23' X5 so the CX-90 misses the mark when compared to any of those vehicles. The only advantage the CX-90 has is that it can be purchased as a Hybrid. It is not a bad vehicle but I would not compare it with MB or BMW.

CX-90 PHEV Amazing Vehicle!
I purchased a used 2024 CX-90 PHEV Premium Plus last month for my wife, so happy we made the choice! Month in, We've taken on a couple weekend road trips with 2 kids >12 and a dog. Also run through the routine commuting and errand running, couldn't be happier! Interior is luxury territory, looks and feels more expensive than it is. Great looking vehicle in and out, comfortable on long trips, loaded with all the creature comforts and amenities you could need. Get the efficiency and smoothness of an EV for shorter local trips, running errands etc., with unlimited range of traditional Gas/Hybrid setup. Not exactly sure what MPG is on hybrid as it is tough to separate that from EV operation. I can say we're averaging 50-55 MPG combined and using about 1/3 of the gasoline previous 2019 Pathfinder used. There is definitely no sacrifice of power and fun to drive factor for this efficiency. This thing is fun to drive, especially for a 5,000+ lb. 3-row SUV. Suspension feels tight and precise, steering feel is solid and accurate, plus power with both gas and electric combined makes this thing flat out FAST when needed. Highway ride is smooth and quiet, leaning a little on the firm side. Downsides are few, but there are some. First, is storage space up front. Not much space to put small items. Glove box is smaller side, center console is shallow. Second, Driver aids can be a little over-sensitive and alerting you when not necessary. Third - Radio took some getting used too with the navigation dial, where things were in menus and operation. It does get easier and appears more intuitive more you use it and get accustomed to it. Highly reccomend you take it for a spin if you're in the market for a 3-row!
