Great car if you know what to expect

2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV Preferred 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl gas/electric plug-in hybrid 8A)

I’ve had this car for about 2000 miles. We’ve really enjoyed it and I did my research going in so I didn’t have many surprises. It’s a great car for folks that have a <30 mile commute and charge daily. We get >75 mpg factoring in longer trips on the weekend. I have been averaging >30 miles per charge (2 - 2.5 miles/kWh). It also has a high quality interior with plenty of space for families. The only drawback with this car is the performance - the 320+ hp they quote is not accurate. This car has 2 separate engines - an electric motor and inline 4 and it’s relatively hard to get them to work together (you either need to floor it or put the car into sport mode). It also significantly reduces the fuel economy and I’ve found it’s best to stick to EV mode if you can and adjust your expectations for acceleration. Again, I knew this going in and having an underpowered 3 row suv is a trade off I’m willing to take for the fuel economy, PHEV flexibility, build quality, and reliability. It’s also a good value at the price point I was able to get (just over $40k new with incentives) relative to other PHEV SUVs.

A Lot of Car For The $$

2025 Mazda CX-90 3.3 Turbo S Premium Plus 4dr SUV AWD (3.3L 6cyl Turbo gas/electric mild hybrid 8A)

I did my homework and the 2025 CX-90 kept ranking very high. Mazda as a brand as well. I want a sporty driving experience but with luxury and this car did not disappoint especially for its size. I also prefer rear wheel bias. I checked others but the HP & Torque of this car was the best for the money, It handles great on its 21 inch wheels abet it is a little stiff. I bought the CX-90 3.3 Turbo S Premium Plus Gas version and it checks all the boxes. Very sporty, comfortable with nice luxury appointments inside & out. Excellent value. The only CON is the 3 yr. 36,000 mile warranty. It doesn't align with this class of car. Just got it so nothing else to report. Try one! I'll come back to update as I add miles.

I love Mazda and it hasn’t failed me. It did once but it was a manufacturing defect. The dealer quickly resolved my issue. Mazda is my family car and I trust it with my family.

Mazda CX-90 is the way to go!!! Volvo? BMW?

Artisan Red Turbo S. Premium Plus!!! Sports DNA in a 3 row SUV. move over BMW, this one here has better handling, and look great while doing it. Luxury appointments are second to none. this one does not have a lot of compartment space, but it does have a large glove box and good space for your things. where is lacks in space, surely makes for it in driving mechanics and pure luxuriousness. This vehicle is not meant to compete with Kia twins or Pilot or GH for that matter. This one is RWD/AWD with Miata DNA. simply test driving this, does not uncover what you will love about this car. This car feels like a much, much, more expensive car. The interior will wow you; the driving mechanics will wow you. CX90 is an all around winner

Not a very good car

Rented a cx90 with 1800 miles on it out of SRQ Airport. Exchanged it after a week for a Ford SUV. The Mazda was anemically powered with a touchy accelerator that didn't make the car go when you applied light pressure. If you gave it more gas , it felt like it was jumping forward. The ride was comfortable but did not instill confidence that it handled well. Very difficult to gauge distance from the front of the vehicle to an obstacle. Needs a bit of slope on the front hood. It started beeping at the driver from four feet away. The center console control system was a joke. Not intuitive at all. Had it a week and never figured out how to easily change the FM stations or how to create a station preference list. The navigation screen did not show all the street names and I could not figure out how to adjust screen size to make them appear. Not very useful when traveling in an unfamiliar place.
