What a difference 4 model years make
I previously owned a white 2016 Mazda 6 Touring. Due to an driver's fail to yield, my car was totalled back in late November. I checked out a blue 2020 Mazda 6. Everything I liked about the 2016 was there, with more, including improvements. I bought the Grand Touring model. The turbo is a great improvement over the base engine. It's not a rocket by any means, but still lots of low end torque to get you moving. Under normal driving, the turbo engine seems a bit smoother and more quiet than the base engine too. In fact, going from the 2016 to the 2020, the whole ride seems more compliant and quieter. I don't notice road imperfections near as much as in my '16. The steering is a bit easier while still communicating the feel of the tires against the pavement. There also seems to be improvement in the seats. A bit more padding and thigh support. Great for long trips. The interior itself has been greatly improved in those 4 years. Very sharp looking. I won't go into detail about all the safety features since they are covered in multiple reviews. Suffice to say it was a good move for Mazda to make their whole safety suite standard across all trims. That wasn't the case in 2016. One piece of advice. The only difference between the 2019 and 2020 model years is a new keyfob design and some badging on the Signature trim. That's it. If you can find the color and trim you like in a 2019 model, then go for it. It has a higher rebate available plus you're more likely to get a better deal since all their 2020 models have been coming in. No dealers in my area had the dark blue exterior/black interior combination that I wanted in a 2019. Hence, I ended up with a 2020. Also, I personally would start with the Grand Touring and go up from there. The Grand Touring is the lowest priced trim that has the turbo engine. A good upgrade going from 186hp/186ft-lb to 250hp on premium/310ft-lb. To wrap this up, I'm very happy with my choice. If you're up in the air about which mid sized sedan to pick, at least have the Mazda 6 on your list of cars to pick from. It may not have the sales numbers that the Camry or Accord have, but it's a very capable and competitive sedan. If you want a great looking and great handling mid sized vehicle, this might be the one.

A Piece of Art
I got the Mazda 6 sport 2020 and I couldn't be happier. It combines comfort, fun and luxury in an unprecedented way. I'm also happy to see the leaps Mazda made in terms of reliability. I'm actually glad they're using a traditional 6 speed transmission. It means fewer bugs and a better projected reliability. It's known and been around for a while - why mess with it? Love this car.

Much more than I thought.
Having owned BMWs and Audi's since 1993 I was reluctant to the reviews I read about the Mazda 6. So I searched it vigorously looking for negative reviews, but I couldn't find much negative. So I decided to pursue leasing one. I found what I liked, Signature series blue with parchment interior. I searched dealerships and found only one within 500 miles. So, I contacted my local dealer and in a few days I was driving it. This car is amazing! The cabin is a beautiful design, simple, elegant and very functional. The leather is premium and the seats are very comfortable. Very little wind noise, very good acceleration, and handling is excellent! I do have four issues that would improve my opinion even more. First, the infortainment system really needs a faster processor. Second, the outside mirrors are not included in the Memory Seats positioning, so you have to re-adjust them with different drivers. Third, there is not power outlet in the front console so you must stretch a cord to the back part of the console where you rest your arm. Four, the gas fill door is thin and appears easy to bend. That's it. My only negatives. Love this car. What a true value!

Ya can't beat a Mazda for value
Very simply, if my Mazda 6 Reserve went away I'd buy another in an instant without shopping any other car. Traded in a 2014 Mazda 6 for the newer 6 because I wanted the turbo, and paid extra for the stunning Soul Red paint. My 3rd Mazda is a testament to Mazda's superb engineering and design. It's beautiful but that does not matter unless the car has 5 star crash rating and is a kick to drive. Also, the seats are very comfortable and vented. It comes with all the bells and whistles of an expensive luxury car(Lexus,BMW and Mercedes). The 6 feels very solid to drive as steering and suspension provide a sense of total control. If you're not especially enjoying your drive, that will change to loving to drive the 6, and I suspect you'll enjoy washing & waxing your Mazda 6 because it's so good looking. OK, rear seat leg room is poor, but as the driver...who cares. Mazda's "zoom zoom" advertisement claim is not baloney...they back it up with their cars.

Constant double takes.
My partner and I researched for many months, trying to find the car WE wanted without sacrificing anything. After 6 months, we found it. We had also considered VW, and Buick. When we went to the dealer to look at the black, Grand Touring Mazda6, we knew after driving it, our search was over. Almost every single day someone approaches us to compliment our car. It is THAT eye catching. In the time we’ve owned it, we’ve not had 1 issue wrong, and nothing but driving pleasure. Now let me gush about the mileage we’ve achieved with our Mazda. In doing research, we discovered claimed, almost 40 miles to the gallon highway driving. We thought perhaps this was wishful thinking. We decided to test our 6 on a long weekend to Asheville. This trip proved we made the right choice. We were shocked that for such a large sedan, it was indeed averaging 38, 39 miles per gallon on our 3 1/2 hour trip. This car looks like a much pricier model, lots of strangers asking what it is, and in 2 cases, actually writing down the make, or taking a photo of the badge. And mileage performance compared to a compact car is unheard of. This experience made us more than likely, repeat Mazda customers. The only thing missing for us, the Mazda6 is available in Europe as a wagon too. If a wagon version were offered in the U.S., we’d be at the dealership tomorrow.

Zoom Zoom...but with efficiency!
My friends and I (3 guys, each 6 foot) had the pleasure of having a 2020 Touring model as a rental for a week for a roadtrip. Grey with black interior...BEAUTIFUL CAR. Got behind the wheel and fell in love. I really had no gripes with the car. Seats were very comfortable, ride was quiet and smooth. Plenty of leg room in the back for one of my friends, even with one of the front seats being almost all the way back. All safety features (Blind spot, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, auto headlights and wipers, etc.) worked flawlessly. During my drive, I noticed the slower response times on other makes with the blind spot as I was coming into theirs. Very impressed with how swift the Mazda was to detect. Driving about 80-90mph on the interstate and my friends and I still managed to average 33 miles to the gallon! The car (to me) had more than enough power for merging and passing, even with the base engine. It actually had a nice sound to it, too! I was sad to return it back to the rental company LOL. A solid choice for anyone considering it, I don't think you will be disappointed! I am a diehard Hyundai/Kia/Genesis fan, but following my week long drive with the Mazda, I definitely have one of these on my radar now!

Lots of spirit
The is a well-balanced vehicle. I find my Mazda 6 Sport to be an enjoyable sedan to drive on the highway and especially on twisty rural roads. The design is very thoughtful and reflects the highest level of Japanese style. I buy a vehicle to drive, and electronic gizmos related to music are less relevant to me. I have the standard 2.5 engine, and it has lots of punch. I think the boy racers need to get a grip on it and go elsewhere if they just want to go fast. This is my third Mazda in recent years and it is the best for long road trips. It rivals my old 2.0 Mazda 3 on rural roads, but is far quieter without the road rumble. Fuel mileage is impressive. This is a car that performs far above its class .I feel great every time I get behind the wheel. Now about those silly Mazda ads...bring back Zoom Zoom!

Finally got my dream car!
Mazda6 Signature in soul crystal red metallic with parchment nappa leather interior. I've wanted this exact car since the mid cycle refresh in 2018. The pros: 1. beautiful car, the most beautiful color for a car that I've ever seen complements the sculpted work of art that is the exterior of the car. Looking at it is an emotional experience. 2. The interior is both attractive and practical. Every control reeks of high quality, with firm detents and clicks, not a wobbly know or switch to be found. Button and control locations are second nature, logically arranged, I could find them blindfolded after a while. 3. The most comfortable car seats I've ever sat in. I flew from San Diego to Santa Barbara to pick up the car, then drove ir almost 4 hours to get home. The seats hug you firmly enough not to slide around, but the leather was supple and padding gentle enough to keep me comfy the whole way...no fatigue at the end of the drive. 4. Like my old 2006 Mazda3, and my 1986 Mazda 323 before it, the machine and I are one on the road. I feel the car doing exactly what I tell it to do. And that is why I've stuck with Mazda. I love how it drives. Cons: 1. Infotainment system. I don't hate it like a lot of people do, I like the idea of know driven control, but the design of menus isn't always the best. I'm getting used to it, but wish it were better. 2. Camera resolution is bad. Nothing else need be said about it. 3. After reading all the stories, I'm deathly afraid of paint chipping off, it's a constant thought while driving. I carefully choose my route to work to avoid construction zones and broken roads that are frequented by semis and big trucks. Still, getting up and leaving the house to go to work, seeing the car brings a smile and a skipped heartbeat every day. I'd buy it again in a second over any other car out there in the price range.

A good bar marred by its control interface and nav
An excellent car that feels far more expensive than it is. My car is a signature model which has every safety and convenience item you could think of. It has good accelleration, and can hold a 6 foot two person in the front seat while having an adult in the back. It also has 15 cubic feet of storage space which means it can hold two 26 inch suitcases. The radio has no buttons either on or off the dashboaord. You first have to set the station into memory and then you can push a place on the steering wheel to increase on decrease the frequency. This is almost unfathnable to my wife. The radio also has no volume control, instead it is on the steering wheel or stuck between the seats. Then there is the control for the side windows. It is on the side of the car and you turn it. It also controls which window you want to adjust. The other bad thing is the navigation system. It is very slow and confusing. Rarely have I ever been able to give it an address verbally. Usually if we don't know where we are going we just take my BMW where the navigation system works. I would not buy this car again if I had a choice. I should add that all of the buttons are very slow to respond, particularly at start up. This car has been a great disapointment to me. As the numbers of cars decrease this car seems to get better. The controls and the navigation system are still almost impossible to decipher and the response to the controls is slow. However the car itself is the same quality or better than my Mercedes E class was.

Reliable, dependable and looks good
I am a Mazda guy. I bought my first one in 1983 and haven’t looked back since. I own the 2014 Mazda 6 and like all of my previous Mazdas I have only had routine and expected maintenance. I buy them because they are a great value and don’t strive to be what they are not. My ego is not dependent on my vehicle and and I crave reliability and keeping my cost low. Can’t beat’em

Mazda wont honor car still under warranty, rusting
When one spends $28,000 on a new car with a 36 month warranty, they expect the dealer and manufacturer to faithfully honor that warranty. However, despite treating my car like a baby, with only 5200 miles on it, it began rusting in multiple places under the hood. It should not be rusting in an area that is protected under the hood. When I took it to the dealer, they threw many lame excuses at me, blaming me for not properly maintaining the car, blaming me for not keeping it in a garage all the time. How am I supposed to use the car if I must always keep it in the garage? NO! This was not a matter of improper maintenance on my part. This is a matter of the car not being designed properly since its already rusting in the 2nd year. It’s also a failure of the dealer to be honest. Not only am I having to deal with the stress & frustration of a poorly built car, take time off from work, wait 4 1/2 hours at the service center only to be refused getting the rust fixed, but the service advisor Emmanuel Cruz insulted me by blaming me for failing to maintain the car properly. Wrong! Mazda failed to build the car properly & the dealer is attempting to skirt their responsibility for fixing the car while under warranty. Non-moving parts under the hood, such as the radiator frame and other areas should not be rusting so soon, before 5000 miles even! This is evidence of the car not being built properly. If the car is already rusting in the 2nd year, how bad will it be rusting if the car even makes it to 5 or 10 years?!?! It’s bad enough to buy a poorly built car, but it’s even worse when the dealer won’t stand behind the products it sells. I shouldn’t be having to file complaints online & paying to hire a lawyer to force the dealer & Mazda to honor the warranty. I relied on the warranty before buying the car. If I knew they would refuse to honor the warranty, I never would have bought the car. Offering a worthless warranty is false advertising and a false and deceptive business practice. If you buy a Mazda and it starts rusting even before reaching 5000 miles, what will you do when the dealer refuses to honor the warranty and blames you for not maintaining the car properly? I wish I had bought a Toyota instead.

Best economy sedan for the long haul
I wanted a comfortable, reliable car that would be inexpensive to run, and not a penalty box to drive... and the (now discontinued) Mazda6 sedan delivers. I'm getting 35mpg plus on regular gas on the highway and 28-30mpg around town. Four people can travel comfortably, and the ride is compliant and relaxed, but with enough sport and zoom-zoom for enjoyable back-road forays. Our Mazda6 is one level above the base, so for less than $28k we get a naturally aspirated and responsive engine that isn't constantly pulling timing under full acceleration, unlike the turbo version. Without the added complexity of the turbo and with a proven reliable engine with a long production history, we expect to get a decade or more of low-hassle performance. It's not an SUV or a jacked-up truck, so there's that too. Only negatives, the horrible infomatics (but Car Play works well) and sound quality sucks. A bit of wind and tire noise at high speeds. And that's it. Just a good car, nothing special here, but something that will last and continue to work from one of the industry's top-rated brands. "Nuff said"

A lot of potential with some major flaws
I have 2020 Touring, Soul Red. Beautiful car. Interior is well done with materials that could easily belong to car that is twice as expensive. Ride is smooth and quiet. Front and back seats are comfortable. It has tons of security features. Apple CarPlay is awesome. I had many Zoom calls while on cruise control. I love it. Infotainment controller in the center console is actually easy to use. I find it comfortable and responsive with big buttons. I actually prefer it over the touch screen. Gas mileage is so-so. I average little bit above 32 mpg. Now list of the flaws…. Designers went overboard and placed AC vents deep into the dashboard so probably 30-40% of air coming out of the vent is blocked by the dashboard design. If you live in hot area I would seriously reconsider this car. I am 6’0 and I feel like I don’t have any head room to spare. I can touch sun visor with my head if I lean forward. Rear view camera has extremely low resolution. It is hard to see at night and it is almost worthless in the rain. Car has limited interior storage space that is very hard to clean. If you have family with children this is definitely not a car for you. Cup holders are big enough for coffee cup or small water bottle from the store. My 12 years old Sonata was better car for the family. Infotainment system takes really long time to start. Radio is hidden and complicated. Navigation system is beyond outdated and complicated. And on top of everything, you cannot even enter destination while car is in motion. I guess Mazda is expecting you to get off the highway, enter new destination and then get back on the highway…. Really stupid limitation. Rear seats are really easy to lower but they cannot be lowered from the inside, only from the outside. Overall, car looks great, drives nicely and is a decent option for single individual or for couple. If you have children I would consider something else.
Madza6 jet black mica, deep chestnut nappa leather
2021 Signature with turbocharged engine. Legally tinted all 5 windows 33% If you have a GT Mazda 6 and you more. Buy the Signature, don't skip this 2021 Mazda6 it is going to be a classic!, This car is the best of all vehicle worlds. A single mature man like myself, 6 tall and only hit my head once leaning in the drivers seat checking out features on the car. I do drive with the seat all the way back rright now, but I only have 98 miles on the car. Its so nice to look at and sit in, (especially the back seat I found, even behind my drivers seat) if I don't recline my seat much. Tons of storage for a single or couple, even with small kids ( I seal the owner's manual in a freezer bag and put it in the trunk, on the spare tire. Bottle holders on each door, two holders between the front seats, I leave the back seat middle bottle holders down because I can easily with my long arms reach around and grab my drinking bottle from the back, which free up more front storage space especially with they empty glove box! I did not see but a handful Mazda 6 signature sedans in Atlanta avalible. If 36,000 is in your budget to buy a new car and you want a sedan that feel like a luxury sports car, with SUV tendencies, by living down the backseat expanding trunk space. I would say buy this car before they are gone because you don't see a lot of them on the road as it is but it's a BUY!

lack of technology
I recently leased the "carbon edition". Being a Japanese made car i really did not check out the technology it came with. If I had I doubt that I would have leased it. My biggest complaint is that it is not a touch screen. My 2018 Charger and 2019 Mustang both have touch screens. The screen itself and unfriendly toggle switch have not been updated in this model which is a "special" model. If I am driving and want to change a destination I have to pull over put the car in part, put the emergency brake on and then change where I want to go. On a positive not the car us quick, handles like a dream, is comfortable but way behind in the tech used. If you are looking for up dated tech but something else

Uncatchy Review
I always wanted a Mazda 6 Grand Touring. I finally bought a brand new 2021 Mazda 6 GT, and now I suffer heavily from buyer's remorse. The engine is underwhelming with a 0 to 60 time of 7.1 sec. There is a lot of torque from this bad boy, but it is all bark and no bite after first gear. It feels heavy and unsporty. I am 6 ft. tall and I have trouble getting in and out of the vehicle without heading my head once or twice. Once I survived the initial entry point, I feel like a giant with the top of my head grazing the ceiling. The infotainment system looks like 2010 tech. The rear camera is terrible. I do like the center knob near the shifter. After you get used to it, it becomes intuitive and quite safer than touch screen, but that's the height of the excitement. Other than that, this car makes me sad. I already have thoughts of how I am going to trade in this vehicle for something else (Kia Stinger?).

Great car! 2 terrible issues!
I have a 2020 Mazda6 Signature and really enjoy the turbo engine. It makes a nice whine under boost and the 6-spd auto trans works well with the engine. I average just shy of 30mpg in combined driving, which is fantastic! If Mazda had put an 8-spd trans in this car, it likely would be closer to 32mpg avg. The cabin wrapped in Parchment leather is GORGEOUS and nicely put together. I find the seats soft and comfortable with good range of adjustment, although I wish the thigh and side bolsters were a little more sporty. In the rear, the seat is spacious, although this Signature trim lacks the rear or side sunshades I expected to find. The Bose sound system is ok but not great; you really have to crank it up to hear it and there is no mid- adjustment...just lots of bass. 2 things I hate about the car: 1) The mirrors are not tied into the memory settings!! Why Mazda? Why? We had a 2017 CX-9 previously and had the same issue--I thought by 2020 Mazda would have corrected this! 2) You can't read the tire pressures from the instrument cluster! What engineer missed this one? Every car I've had in the last 10 years has put a readout in the instrument cluster menu. Pain in the butt. The car is a joy to drive and a gem to look at (especially in Soul Red Crystal). I would definitely recommend it if you can get past the minor inconveniences I mentioned.

Great car could be greatest
Car meets my basic requirements. Remote starter with smartphone access and monitoring should be a built in feature. Forward camera quality doesn’t meet 2020 technology. I suggest few point for Mazda to consider for 2022 model. (1) Rear external design could be improved to shape like Hyundai Sonata and rear lights could be made more beautiful. Interior Back seat air conditioning vent shape looks like an old fashion, design could be improved by using a combination of some sort of metallic touch, just like there is some metallic touch is there on the dashboard Gadget charger unit is only available from inside the arm rest box, there must an option from to plug the cord inside the mobile phone box in front of gear unit. There must be a wireless mobile phone slot available. Blind spot could be improved by using cameras trigger with indicator.
Watch out for paint chipping soul red color
Just bought a 2021 Mazda 6 Touring Plus today and noticed at the point of sale, paint chipping spots on the hood and side panel. Dealer says he will touch it up, but now I discover that many mazdas have this paint problem. Just worried that I bought a lemon. Car appears to drive well though.

Very responsive , handles like a dream, and you won't see many on the road. This is a rare beast!!

So uncomfortable.
I went to drive and buy this but it was awful. Sure it’s gorgeous and appears well made but the interior seating, even with the signature comfort seats, was so firm we didn’t even finish the test drive. The back seats are so straight up and hard that I was miserable before the salesman even put me in the driver seat. The tech and interior seems dated and is clearly years behind other options in this price range. A Kia Optima from 2015 is more comfortable, has better tech and is easier to drive. For the price of a Signature you have much better options. Also, the salesman drove it for 5 miles before he ever even turned it over to me. At first this infuriated me but in retrospect it gave me way too much time in that back seat to realize it was not the car I was hoping for.

Mazda6 GT - meh
I have to first state that this was not the car I initially set out to buy. The COVID season inexplainably brought out the urge to purchase cars by the entire population, and needing a car but unable to find what I wanted, settled on the GT. It's an attractive car and the interior is well appointed -- nothing looks cheap. The turbo delivers quick accelleration. However, this is definately not a driver's car First off, the handling is not as tight as I'd like. Turning a corner at speed is a dicey affair - the car does not feel confident. The suspension also is not up to par -- you feel every pebble on the road. My old Civic rode better. It comes with sport tires. Bad news -- had to replace 3 tires within the first 15,000 miles, with the fourth gone at 25k. Good news-- the sport tires make a big difference on the handling and drivability. How do I know? After the 3rd tire wore out, I replaced two tires with standard all season tires, and the car then handled like crap. But the worst of it is how the navigation/radar/cruise control system works. When cruise is on, the car will automatically brake when you approach someone in front of you. And when I say brake, I mean hard jolting brake that lurches you into the windshield. The car does this quite regularly. If you are passing someone and they slow down in front of you, the car slams the brakes on. If I didn't know better, I'd say the car is trying to kill me. So far I have not found a way to turn off the radar/hard brake function. There is also a "feature" that stiffens the steering when you attempt to change lanes. This appears to be a concession to either narcoleptics or to those drivers who spend the bulk of their attention on their IPhone instead of the highway. But for someone who likes to drive, it's beyond annoying to have to always wrestle control of the car. Fortunately there is a way to turn this annoyance off. There are lesser quibbles too. All told, not the most fun car to drive.

Luxury without the price.
Mazda 6 Grand Touring Reserve. This car is stunning inside and out. Love the way it handles. Has decent power and mpg. Only dislike is if the car is remote started, once you open the door it shuts off even when you have the fob key, which is really stupid that I have to restart once I am in the car. Mazda says it's for safety reasons. Isn't that what the fob key is for?? The infotainment system is painfully slow.

ghostly trunk
the fob seems to be defective as the trunk opens on its own even when driving.
Gutless downsize
Mazda used to make a very decent V6 sedan. Unfortunately times have changed and their turbo 4 banger misses the mark. Handling is decent and exterior looks are very good. I like the cockpit but there is a good use of space for the relatively large cabin. The stirring wheel is too thin and the infotainment system is quite dated. There is a sport mode but it essentially does very little to pull the car with any kind of power for its FWD. The car feels heavy. Handling is the best attribute on this model and that's about it.
