F Sport - better than anticipated
This is our third Lexus. I previously switched to BMW, and after I was on a first name basis with the service manager at my local BMW dealership, I switched back to Lexus before my BMW warranty ended - the repair bills were terrifying. I generally prefer to buy one year old cars because of the significant depreciation. However, in this case the performance and looks of the newly designed RX F-Sport were dramatically improved, and I couldn't bring myself to go with the old egg shape RX. The F-sport design of the 2016 and newer models is much more aggressive. I get a lot of compliments on it. Honestly, it is not as fast as it looks, but when in the S+ mode, you get enough oomph from a car that carries it's passengers in luxury, near silence, safety, and reliability. The interior of the F-Sport is extremely attractive, with the hand stitched leather, carbon dash trim, etc. I bought a black model with black interior and every option available. I don't have any regrets as I love the safety and technology. The only part that strikes me as goofy is the panoramic sunroof. It looks great and everyone loves it when they ride in my car. The down side of the sunroof with the panoramic roof is that the opening (when open) is relatively small. This is really strange considering the size of the giant glass panoramic roof. Interestingly, I have ridden in convertibles with less wind buffeting (when the roof is open at around 25 mph). If you decide to go with the panoramic roof, drive around with it open in town a bit, to make sure it doesn't hurt your ears at lower speeds. This design flaw is totally out of place. I have 66,000 miles on my car. I would buy this car again and have no regrets. But the sunroof design was almost an afterthought. When closed, the vehicle is nearly silent compared to most vehicles out there. The F-Sport seats are very firm. I love them and I haven’t had any lower back issues since purchasing this vehicle. But my wife says the F-Sport seats were designed for taller people and/or men. If the F-Sport is too aggressive, the regular seats in the RX-350 are much more supple. Again, I just wanted the sportier feel of the F-Sport. After having totaled my previous Lexus, I was very concerned with safety. The auto braking system is solid. I live in Houston and people love to slam on their brakes on the interstate. It works! The lane keep assist isn't really that amazing, but it at least helps keep the car centered in the lane. That’s about it. It offers either an audible beep or a steering wheel vibration when you cross over into another lane without a blinker. Compared to my wife’s 2019 Infiniti QX-80, the Lexus safety tech is 1,000 times better. The Lexus lets you customize all the features, tells you why it’s alerting you. The Infiniti customization settings pretty much includes on/off. In the Infiniti, we’ll be driving down the road and the safety system will beep at us sometimes. It leaves us wondering what it wants to tell us. Needless to say, if safety is your thing and you are also looking at Infiniti, know there are stark differences in sensitivity, customization, and feedback. Some people aren't a fan of the more aggressive and sportier design (starting in 2016). While I love the new style, I found the old egg RX shape a bit of a snooze fest. While the RX has an acceptable amount of storage, we quickly learned my wife's GX holds MUCH more in the trunk than my little RX commuter vehicle. This is a great vehicle and 100% worthy of consideration. If you just lease your cars and don't worry about what it's like to own them 3+ years out, I would also check out the Audi's. But if you want a car that will never leave you stranded with tons of technology, check out the 2016 RX F-Sport. There is a reason Lexus has had the best selling mid-size luxury SUV for years. We have had no warranty issues. I had to switch out the weather stripping around the sunroof when it flew off (two times) early on, but other than that- it’s been 100 percent reliable. They make an amazing vehicle. Around town, I get about 23 MPG on regular fuel. However, when I drive a lot on the interstate I tend to get closer to 27.

Reliable
After driving BMWs for nearly 20 years and spending thousands on maintenance and repairs I asked my mechanic which car he sees the least in his garage. He replied according to his experience any Toyota or Lexus models have been the least problematic. Presently I have been driving my Lexus RX350 vehicle for 7 years which I bought brand new in 2017. I can honestly say that after nearly 250k kms I have never experienced any issues with this vehicle. My only expense has been regular maintenance fees. The ride is quiet and comfortable, gas mileage is very reasonable for an SUV. Great vehicle!

Awesome package
Total satisfaction with purchase and ownership. I like the moe aggressive lines and look of the 2016 model.
Bulky to manuever
i love EVERYTHING about this car.... EXCEPT...I feel like I am driving a tank! I have never had difficulty in my 33 years of driving maneuvering a vehicle into parking spaces, drive thrus, etc --- until this car. I have road rashed both wheels, I cannot park it comfortably ever and most recently ran over a landscape rock that could NOT be seen while inside the vehicle. The front sensor system did not even pick up that there was something in front of me. Seriously - test drive this and try to park it and see how difficult it is to judge the front end of the car as well as how close you are to curbs, etc. It was love at first sight when I purchased it...but I am about to trade a hit and trade out of a lease 2 years early just to keep from tearing it up even more than I already have! Would NEVER PURCHASE again!
