Used 2015 Lexus RX 350 Consumer Reviews
The most trouble-free car I've ever owned!
This vehicle has required only periodic oil changes. It took me 7-1/2 years to reach 30,000 miles, so when I did, I "splurged" for the 30,000 mile check-up. I thought it was the least I could do for a car as dependable as this one! I bought it new for its dependability and advanced safety features, and it has more than lived up to its billing. At age 9, it has racked up 37,000 miles, and continues to perform perfectly. Now approaching 10 years old, this car should out-live me! I gave it a new set of tires last winter and changed rear brakes. That's it! We make a great pair!

Nice car, but needed major repair
We bought our RX 350 in September of 2015. We also have a 1999 Lexus RX 300 that we love. After owning the RX 350 for only 5 months we noticed an oil leak under the car. We took it to the dealer and it was an oil leak from the timing chain cover. Very disappointed with this. The dealer said it would take at least a week to repair it. We never had any major problems with our 1999 RX.

Well built & Comfortable but awful Tech
This is a well built and comfortable car. However the technology, while outstandingly marketed, is absolute crap. Voice recognition is extremely inaccurate, complex and distracting to use. It is so bad I have almost completely abandoned it. My 10 year old Garmin portable GPS has better voice recognition and routing features but their is no safe or interfering place to mount it or I would be using it. Emails and phone calls to Lexus & Toyota have been useless. Poor dealer support for tech issues (multiple dealers). Map upgrades are infrequent, extremely expensive & must be done by dealer. Keeping other technology current is also very expensive. The ability to enter in addresses from a computer was a marketing feature but so complex and buggy that it made it time consuming and frustrating for the user. Subsequently that feature has been removed leaving address entry options to be a joystick on the screen keyboard or a complex entry procedure transfer procedure from a smartphone. The screen supported interface is very user unfriendly and is only controlled via joystick. This includes entertainment selection and good air management. Live assistance (extra cost) is often problematic. Some controls are difficult to access when driving. Some others are unneeded duplicates that adds confusion. Windshield has some built-in technology and likely very expensive to replace. Options were outrageously overpriced -i.e. Heads-up display from dealer was $1,000 but high quality from 3rd party was $89. Rear camera is affected by rain. Tailgate has enough force to knock you over before stopping if it hits you. Tech that works well includes Park assist (not automatic), blind spot sensing, and adaptive cruise control. Interior lighting is poor. Car is comfortable and runs well and has a lot of unneeded 'frosting' that boosts the pricing. Good cargo space. Gas mileage is poor. In summary I do not recommend this car due to poor technology, low gas mileage and poor customer support. Based on this experience I currently have absolutely no interest in purchasing a Lexus or Toyota product again. Lexus marketed this vehicle as including advanced technology. In reality it is anything but. In my opinion attempting to use many to the technology 'features' while driving, makes this car unsafe to drive. In retrospect I should have invoked the California Lemon Law. Update: Voice Recognition (VR) is so bad and frustrating to use I have completely given up using it. There have been no navigation updates for this vehicle since fall or 2016. Traffic alerts are incorrect at least half the time. In order to relieve myself of this stress, I plan to get rid of this vehicle buy June 30, to avoid double registration fees for 2018. The sad truth of all of this is that in all of the vehicles I have tested so far, none have VR that is as good or better than my 2012 Garmin. As such I am focused on purchasing my next vehicle without in dash navigation or voice recognition, but to use my Garmin instead. This issue is that all the manufactures I have explored, link safety features to in dash navigation/VR. The only SUV manufacture I have found so far that does not link in dash tech to critical safety features and has a spot for my Garmin is the 2018 Lexus RX350. So ultimately might have to 'bite my tongue' and buy another Lexus. However I am still doing research on this to avoid purchasing another Lexus if that is possible. This July, given that I find this vehicle too distracting to drive safely, I finally found a vehicle that has tech that actually works as advertised, offers tech performance and voice recognition, that finally functions in a manner that allows it to be used without serious distraction, and has a navigation functionality that equals or exceeds the functionality of my 2011 Garmin portable navigator. That vehicle is the 2009 Acura RDX. Fully equipped it costs the same as the Lexus described here but offers exceptional looks, performance and technology with outstanding customer support, that when compared to the Lexus RX350 has me thinking that the Lexus was engineered in the Stone Age. I will be reviewing the RDX soon but in the meantime this are to be my last comments in this review of the Lexus and in conclusion I am experiencing much joy in finally getting rid of this vehicle which emotionally I consider to be an awful chunk of garbage. That said, I will never again suggest or recommend a Toyota product to anyone. Final Comments: From other professional reviewer of the 2019 Rx350. Nothing has changed since 2015 w/ Lexus showing contempt: "the infotainment system pushed me to within moments of ripping it out…" Enough said!

Had to put new tires on the car
We experienced major problems with the tires the car was delivered with. The tires cupped at 16,000 miles. Car became very noisy. Lexus agreed to cover half the cost to put a set of new Michellin tires on the car which we did. Made a world of difference. At 50,100 miles on the car, we love it. Would consider a new one, but don't like the current styling.

Highlander has better interior and ride
This review is based on a test drive, not ownership. Shopping for a mid-sized, crossover for the wife to replace her 15 year old Sequoia. The kids are grown so it was time to move down on size and up in luxury. I really thought the RX would be a great fit. The wife wants a Toyota as we have had great experience with them from a reliability standpoint but she wants something easier to handle in parking lots (which would be damn near anything compared to the Sequoia). We don't like the wild styling of the new RX so we went to look at CPO 2015s. As soon as we got in, we were both taken back. Everything I read talked about the quality of the interior materials. Huh? Where are they looking? I saw a sea of cheap looking, hard plastic. The door panels were just slabs of plastic as was most of the dash. The Sequoia has a much nicer interior. Then we drove it. I didn't expect a sports sedan, or even an engaging driving experience but this was horrible. It wallowed around turns and floated over undulations like it was on springs with no damping. Disappointed, we went down the street to the Toyota dealer to check out the Highlander. What a difference. The interior was much nicer, with nice, soft simulated leather covering the dash and soft inserts in the door panels. And it drove much better, handling seemed secure and bumps smoothed out. I just amazes me that for these two corporate cousins, the Toyota drives better and has a more luxurious interior for a lot less money than the Lexus.
