Been searching for months for 01, with Navigation in pearl white/white. Best car I have ever owned. Super smooth, VERY comfortable, very quick/fast. Better than listed mpg, gets 30 mpg freeway. Navigation very easy/useful. M.L stereo is incredible. I go for a drive now to relax ! Headlights are great. Trunk is huge. Wife and kids love it. Its a perfect 10 !

Flawless reliability, after 5 years and 95000 miles not one repair issue. My only visit to the dealer was to have the Nav system re-programmed due to a satellite change (they sent me $50 for my trouble). It is still as solid and tight as the day I bought it, still not a hint of wind noise.

Great luxury, Expensive parts!

I bought this car used at auction when it had 65K miles. I now have 140K on it and it runs great. It is wonderfully luxurious, has a powerful engine, and very few things go wrong. But when they do, very few if any companies other than Lexus make parts (too few LS430's to make it worthwhile to them), and Lexus takes merciless advantage of their monopoly. Only Lexus sold the two catalytic converters I needed (budget about $1500 installed each), a pipe for the exhaust is $1200 uninstalled (mechanic told me it's $200 for other cars), even an extra key will set you back $200-$300!

Your reading this because your interested in a Lexus LS 430. The same thing I did last year when I was thinking about purchasing a used LS 430 with 250,000 miles . At the time I owned a 1997 LS 400 with 260,000 miles and a 1991 LS 400 with almost 340,000 miles on it. And bought my mother in law a 1997 ES 300. I know a little about Lexus automobiles. After driving LS 400's for hundred of thousand's of miles , I was not prepared for how much SMOOTHER and QUIETER the LS 430 has been improved over the LS 400's. I'm writing this review a year and half after buying my black LS 430 because last night I had an hour drive from a friends house and still couldn't believe how nice this car is now with 271,000 miles on it. When I pulled off the highway , I checked the in dash fuel mileage gauge, 30.1 mpg . Earlier in the week I had a 3 hr. highway drive and the gauge showed 28.7 mpg. when I had stopped. Huge trunk compared to my LS 400's. I'm now looking for a LS 430 sport and no I never selling this one. Update : Mar. 2019 At 319,000 miles my LS 430 keeps rolling along. Just got back from a 500 mile road trip and getting ready for another 500 mile tomorrow. I still look at the newer LS 430's to upgrade. I have found the newer LS 460's don't hold the value that the LS 430 holds. I still don't plan on selling my LS 430, perhaps I will hand it down to my son if I upgrade to a newer LS 430. The timing belt / water pump service is coming due. so I will have to make some decisions shortly. Everybody who rides or drives my LS 430 always comments on how quiet and smooth the car is with 319,000 miles. So my Black Beauty will ride on until my next update. Update Sept 2020, Still a great car , miles are 322,000 and climbing. Just completed two 500 mile back to back trips in one week.Same comments as before, people are amazed at how quiet it is. Timing belt service is now due. Looking to upgrade to a newer LS 430, either 2005 or 2006. But black beauty still rides on smooth and as quiet as ever. Quite amazing the low cost of ownership. Just keep the engine oil clean and drive. This car still amazes me as to how quietly and smoothly it accelerates from 70 to 110 mph.when the time comes to pass someone on the open road It just glides along..

I bought my 2001 used with 52,000 miles. It drives better and feels better then every car I have ever driven. Even though it is 2001, it is still state of the art. Downside, repairs cost a fortune. new front wind shield, $2500. Door Locks, $1200 each. New Computer $1700

Third Lexus, 2nd LS430, LS400 parents still driving. Regretted trading in 1st LS430. Have owned 3 Benz, 2 BMW, 1 BMW M Package, 300ZX, RX-7, Porsche 356C, Triumph etc. Current LS430 Ultra Luxury, Acceleration, handling, Wife likes it!, Unbelievable luxury, cooled seats, rear reclining/vibrator seats, rear cooler, radar dynamic cruise collision detection. Can raise height of car to avoid front bumper scrapes. Rides like silent luxurious limousine, then switch to sport mode adaptive air suspension, power mode and takes off, accelerates and corners like a much smaller sports car, grips better than expected, very difficult to reach limit when dynamic stability control engages. 27 MPG HWY.

The car gets great gas mileage. Looks a little boxy, but the wind tunnel numbers give it away as very aerodynamic. Love the seating the ride, it is flawless. I can go 5 hours without stopping, listening to an audio book, alone. Hardly realize I have done anything because it is so even inside, temperature wise, and so perfectly quiet, that I really am in "car heaven". No one would ever be disappointed in this car who is mature, and loves value and excellent luxury and fine details. I have had some expensive repairs, door locks being about $600 a door, and the carbon canister being $800 (all of these prices include labor). But, overall, the car has very low maintenance costs for 180,000 miles

The most incredible car I've ever owned and I've owned over 200. For the money a used one is a bargain. Most times you can find one that has been babied and well taken care of. I bought the Ultra package with auto door closers and dynamic cruise. Mileage was up to 28mpg on the highway and around 18-20 in town. Sadly I sold mine, but miss it so much I am currently back in the market to purchase. Great job Lexus!

I've tried the Beemers and the MB's and there is no luxury sedan built better or more luxuriously for the money than the LS430. Maintenance is virtually nil, unlike the German "uber autos." The MB has a ride nowhere near the comfort of the Lexus. This is my first LS 430 after owning two LS400's. I doubt I'll ever buy anything other than the big LS. It's the best car I've ever owned and I've owned 41 cars to date.

I bought this used LS with Navi with 75,000 miles on it a year ago and now I have put 12,000 miles on it with no problems. The Navigation is very good the turning radius unbelievable. Drove from Phila to Raleigh NC with no problems. I will trade this for a newer model in a few years. I love this car over a 1997 740 I had and a 2000 S500.

I have owned this car for seven years and have enjoyed every minute. We have owned some of the finest sedans and this car takes all honors! We just finished a 3000 mile road trip and averaged 24 miles per gallon and of course, had zero trouble. This Ultra cruise control makes long trips very enjoyable, nearly drives itself!

Have owned my LS 430 for about 6 months. This is the best car in the world. Super comfortable seats front/rear. Superb fit and finish. Quiet as a tomb. Killer Levinson stereo - best I have ever heard. Efficient motor can get almost 30 mpg on long trips. Navigation is easy, can't live without it now. Very quick off the line and can cruise over 100 mph silently. I go for rides just for fun/relaxation. Looks very classy too. Clients love it.

Its 2012 and my 2001 LS430 is still running strong. For all who have the Levinson system, its great until the speaker rattles. Don't buy a new one, you can have it re-coned for $40.00 rather than $400.00 for a new one. I've done that twice and replaced an o2 sensor. Aside from regular maintenance those are the only issues I've ever really had. I have a buddy who racked up 280k on his and still going. I'm now at 160k and have no plans for a new car. Before this, I was a euro lux driver. I'll never go back.

I bought this car after my 1999 LS got totaled. I also had a 93 LS, 98 GS, and 93 ES before. All great and reliable cars, with the ES being the least reliable if that even makes sense. I was in love with the 99, really loved that car, but after picking this one up in New Jersey at Lawrenceville Lexus, its just all around greatness. Purchased in December at 112k, it is now at 120k. Besides the 120k I just did, all I've changed was the front brakes, rotors. Very comfortable, economical(20-24 MPG HWY/CITY combined), fast when you need it to, and hugs the road pretty well. The only quirk I have is the Mark Levinson speakers. The front speakers have blown, and I replaced sub with Polk Audio

I love driving this car, the only thing that improved the car was putting Michelin tires on it. In the 4 years I've had it, not once has it been in the shop. It is a bit hard on tires, but for the ride and preformance, it's worth it. Probably the worse thing about the car, is it's looks, but the inside is perfect, great ride, lots of power.

I just bought my car December 26th 2018 and I am still getting to know my car thus far, my only complaint is the key recognition to the system it takes live at times for the key recognition before the key actually turns and it makes me feel unsafe and certain places. And it is the flagship car for Lexus brand so be prepared to pay the price for simple light bulbs being $99 a piece and mine are flashing as if it has a shortage. But list price brand new these cars range around $84,000 so I paid $6,000 .. my car practically drives like it did in 2001 and has executive driven miles .. I'd say it is reliable, comfortable, the heated seats are great, excellent sound system and even though it's rear-wheel-drive I hit it pretty good in the rain and did not fishtail at all. I feel like I'm winning with this car cuz I needed it has low miles and has been very taken care of how to be prepared for me to buy it this many years later... /G\

Guess what? I'm 40, eschewed the Beamer and Q and went for the safe bet..the LS 430. I love the car, but has been beset with annoying problems...orange peel paint on roof (fiexed by dealer), shuddering steering wheel retraction mechanism (replaced by dealer), annoying tick tick sound in the dash and door are (allegedly fixed, but I can still hear it; the car is soo damn quiet) and I too have noticed the frigging tires are almost worn at 17K miles! I have obviously been disappointed in Lexus "quality" and chose not to buy my wife the new GX470. Sorry guys, Acura MDX wins the SUV race. I do however love the way the car drives and accelerates.

My current Lexus (LS 430) was bought in 2001 on the strength of the performance of my first Lexus (LS 400), which I owned/drove for ten years. I faithfully have "scheduled" maintenance but never had to have either serviced for other work - absolutely problem-free! I love the way it drives, the way it looks and hope my next purchase will be a 2007 Lexus (LS 460) or later. My current one still looks and drives like new after 5 years and only has 30,000 miles on it - it's only the handsome styling of the newest generation that is tempting me!

This is by far the most exceptional car on the road. We have The Ultra Lux, blk/blk, with stock chrome 17" wheels and bordeaux wood trim. Every option possible except the phone. Bought the car with 58k miles and now have 78k. Unreal experience. I have never been into cars, but this has changed me for sure. My dad was a Benz guy and I would never buy one after having the total Lexus experience. We have put 20k miles on it and it is solid as rock and the fit and finish is as good as new. My wife drives it and loves her 60 mile daily commute in Atlanta traffic. We get comments/looks all the time. Very sharp car.

This is my third new Lexus. I still drive my first, a 1993 SC300. 177,000 miles and other than routing maintenance, no problems. My 2001 is a good car in a lot of ways but I have had many problems with this vehicle. The steering column need 3 parts to make it right, Both side view mirrors needed to be replaced, both trunk struts needed to be replaced, One of the factory wheels developed a crack around the lug nut hole and needed to be replaced. The driver's seat needed to be repaired. All of the above was done under warranty but as I only have 60,000 miles on my car now, I can only expect more and very expensive repair work that won't be covered. I think I'll look for another make vehicle.

Bought an LS 430 after seven years of Mercedes-Benz. Knew to expect silent operation, but was still surprised by the power and quiet. It's like being pushed by a huge electric motor. No vibration, very little sound from the engine, and tons of torque. The LS 430 is also surprisingly agile and, like other great luxury sedans, it seems to get smaller and lighter as the speed increases. I took an interstate cloverleaf at 60 mph with no tire squeal and complete control. Everything about this car is supremely well-engineered and manufactured. One nice feature is the auto-level on the xenon headlights so that they never blind oncoming drivers. Very thoughtful. Really love this car.

The LS430 Ultra proves that it's possible to conceive, design, and manufacture an automobile of such profound excellence and deep quality that it changes how you look at the concept of the car. It makes all the other cars seem irredeemably crude and tacky. It's so good in every respect that it simply cannot be appreciated without living with it and touring in it. How Lexus endowed a single automobile with all of everything is beyond me. This car is simply the highest quality manufactured artifact I have ever examined.

Amazing. Currently have almost 130k on car. Owned for 3 years with no issues whatsoever. Great for trips. Get 25-30mpg on hwy. City is 14-18mpg. Wish I could have splurged for the 05-06 with the newer styling. Would def do it all over again.

Bought used with 18,000 miles, now have 77,000. Have replaced brake pads, air mass flow meter (because I broke it cleaning it), trunk struts, battery, tires and have serviced according to the owners manual. No major mechanical problems. Its like driving around in your living room. Silky smooth. No squeaks, rattles or wind noise. This is an extremely well built and designed car.

Bought 2008 in Oklahoma with 98K for $19K, and now has 160K. Stored winters in Minnesota to avoid salt exposure. No mechanical problems, just routine meticulous maintenance. Cannot say enough good things about this sedan. Looks new inside and out. Would keep forever, at least until electric cars are comparable.

I got the car with the sports package so the car is just about perfect with it's overall handling to ride. I love the car, but it seems I'm the only one driving this car who is under 60.

The LS430 has the best electronic wonder I have ever had. The voice activated, touch screen GPS is wonderful and the Mark Levinson stereo amazing. The car, however, is truely boring to drive and cannot corner worth a darn.

After having owned BMWs, Mercedes, Infinitis, etc., there is no car that can compare to the comfort and ease of driving this car. I hate driving but I LOVE my Lexus!! The Lexus also has the best navigation system around with its simple, intuitive touch screen system.

We have never had a mechanical problem with this car since the day we purchased it. We did have to replace the stereo amp, but in 7.5 years we felt we couldn't complain. Great car, great dealership.

I've had it 18 months & I feel like I still have a new car that i just love.. Only car I have ever had I felt that way about after that length of time... Expensive but worth EVERY penny... I always said when Lexus made a car this big I would give it a try. Can not even imagine driving anything else.....

Lexus LS430 - Good Car-Bad Tires

I am leasing this car for my wife who loves it. The car is very luxurious and drives better than a full sized Mercedes. The only problem with the car is the tires. They are completely worn out at 16,000 miles of city driving. We had another Lexus car which had the same problem - premature tire wear.

Excellent car. I have had Lincolns, Cadilacs, Jags & their is no comparison. All Lexus dealerships I have dealt with for service have been more than excellent.

Quality, quiet and comfort ooze from every pore of the LS 430. Lots of room, easy to maneuver, plenty of power in a luxury setting. My "best ever" vehicle.
