Just what I wanted

Had it now for two months. A trip to Florida quickly put 3300 miles on the odometer. The surprise is gas mileage. I have averaged 25+mpg overall, and the Florida trip averaged 33mpg! I would say performance is good, but it takes a heavy foot to get the revs up there for excellent acceleration. I drove a BMW325 while looking. I do not detect any better response at all while driving, and the interior quality and technological features are not even close to the IS. BMW reliability is sketchy at best, and am not interested in that. I am very satisfied with my IS!

Wonderful experience with my IS lease

Let me preface that rather than write a review when I first obtained the car, let me share my experiences toward the end of my 36 month lease. Approaching month 34... * AWD - very amazed and impressed of the handling during freezing rain, snow and icy weather. I’ve driven through actual snow storms and the car handled really well while other cards just spun around or were completely helpless! I felt really confident driving this around in snow! *I drove highway miles averaging 33- 34 mpg using premium fuel! *Dealer provided excellent customer service during my visits for service * I really enjoyed the navigation system - friendly, easy and spot-on

Great deal for great car

Switching from my 07 BMW 328i to the Lexus IS 250 was not an easy choice. BMW has great styling and is a fun car to drive. The issue is more the nickel and dime attitude from BMW. Why are car alarms extra? Plastic seats? Come on BMW. So I am going Japanese and in the end got on a great deal that included all the luxuries. Love the interior (except the old school clock) and comfort. While this is no BMW 328, it does have decent power. I am speeder by nature, so less power when the light turns green is best for me. If I want to floor it, it will move. Why are raters so concerned about 0-60 MPH time. With all the traffic I generally can't confirm the time, plus it's a waste of gas & dangerous

Sleeper Hit

For me, the real decision was between this and the G37. I really want the G37 performance and styling. But to get the same features the IS250 provides the G37 is at least $5k more at MSRP. No one pays MSRP, but that's huge difference before we even start haggling! Is 100 hp worth $5k? Possibly but that's at least $100/mo more - eep. But I got a screamer of a deal (less than this website shows for invoice) at 2.9%. With only ~220 miles I'm already averaging 26 mpg in the city - pretty good for car not broken in yet. The car looks much better in person than in pictures. Not sold on the rear, but front and side have nice curves. This car is plush, smooth and is just all around awesome

No Regret

There was a struggle when I went about to get a new car to replace the Mercedes C200K 2007 model. The C200 was rough and hard on the fuel pedal with engine and road noise not on par with the brand name. The IS250 choice was a balance between my want to have an exciting car and luxury and comfort. In the end the choices were Audi A4, Volvo S80 and Volkswagen GTI. A4 was expensive not worth the money, the Volvo was too big for my wife to handle and the GTI was boyish. The choice fell on IS250 Deluxe. I do not have a regret. The car is truly a balance on power and enjoyment of luxurious driving. It is fast enough if I want to and satisfy the need to drive with some degree of spirit

I have a 2012 IS250 with AWD and NAV. Interior is very high quality. Seats are comfortable, although the backseat is abit tight but still comfortable. Ride is abit stiff, but handling around corners is excellent. Power steering is a little stiff for being electric, but will have the dealer look into that. Gas mileage is good for V6 (27 MPG). Very sporty looking, gets admired by other drivers.

What a great car - very smooth ride, fantastic sound system, extremely comfortable. I've run out of superlatives to describe it. Tried the IS 350 for its bigger engine, but the handling was way too stiff and the road noise was annoying, I don't miss the extra hp. The BMW was spirited, but to get everything that came standard with the 250 would have cost another $5K or so.

I went to test a cert pre owned IS 250 and walked out with a lease on a new premium pkg black with tan interior, spoiler and nav. Great car. Period. The acceleration is lacking when you first get going but this car flies down the highway. No problem passing, handles like a pro. I almost feel like a race car driver and I'm not pushing the speed limit (not too much anyway). The LED headlights are sharp on this car and definitely earns her looks. Gas mileage is average for this car, no complaints.

My previous car was a 2002 BMW 325 AWD. The ride on the Lexus isn't as tight as the BMW, but it is superior in all other respects, especially its service needs and cost. The BMW was a money pit, and the Lexus is just the opposite. I will never go back.

Best Car I’ve ever owned.

If size is of importance for you then this car will not deliver in that aspect. Fuel economy could be a bit better but considering I have the AWD I get close to 400 miles a tank. The car can be quite comfortable but sometimes I have lower back pain from the driver seat. Maybe, I can adjust the lumbar support. It’s a very beautiful and fun car to drive. I will forever be a Lexus owner from here on out. Best car I’ve ever owned. I’m looking to have this baby for awhile. I do question the sealed automatic transmission. I would like to have the transmission fluid changed every so often to stretch the life of the car. That would honestly be my only disappointment. Other than that, this car gets a 5 out of 5. I will purchase again and don’t hesitate to buy if you don’t mind the backseat leg room, slight discomfort from the front driver seat and using premium gasoline.

Zippy little car

I disagree with Edmunds on “not as sporty as it looks” and “performance.” This car is for driving on normal roads and not racing around atop a mountain like we see on ridiculous tv commercials. My car accelerates instantly and has plenty of power, e.g., changing lanes to get past other drivers, driving uphill, starting from park to drive. I often drive unintentionally at 80-90 mph on the highway because it’s so easy to do with this car - smooth acceleration and ride. There are some features I don’t like - the charging ports are located inside the back of the center console. I have to twist and almost turn around to either plug in the USB charger or connect my cable to the port (I don’t leave it plugged in when not in use). There isn’t a dedicated button or switch that I can find to turn on the heater. After much searching, I toggled the AC off and the heat started. Overall, it’s a nice and comfortable car. The compact size is perfect for my short stature.

Very nice car stands out still, being a late model, head turner the speed on car is fine 204horses and its smooth shifting gears also limits over acceleration at start to preserve the transmission the car is built to last nice bang for the buck

This was my Christmas gift to myself, and I have to say that so far I love the IS250. Smoky granite mica, black leather interior, navigation, heated/vent seats, hid lights etc. It has a great balance of luxury, style, quality, fuel economy, technology, and comfort (despite the rear passenger leg room). So far my only complaint is that the control for the iPod on the navi lags. Lil difficult to search for songs. I was surprised that the audio was as good as it is. This is not the fastest vehicle, but like I stated earlier its a well balanced vehicle.

We bought this 2010 IS250 after our last Lexus was wrecked in a weather related accident. We have a GX460 and we’ve owned two other Lexus models. The IS is a spunky little sedan with many features. It’s fun to drive and the awd is very good. The back seat is snug but we knew that already. The front door locks act up sometimes (won’t unlock for us when we use the remote occasionally) but this has apparently stopped happening in recent days. We’re pleased with the IS as it’s a good second car for the price.

At first I was a little reluctant of the year 2012 but it only had 50 thousand miles on it I got it from a friend so I know everything is legit I'll tell you this car is great it's not too big it's not too small it has good acceleration great handling excellent gas mileage it's really a good looking car I get excellent highway mileage 30 miles to the gallon even city is great at 2524 depending on how much I step on it.. you cannot go wrong getting this car if you have a chance to get one with 60,000 miles or less go for it you won't regret it the back seat is not that big but hey this is not a family car so deal with it. I love the fact that it's rear wheel drive and not front wheel drive that's a very rare attribute these days

Just bought the 2012 IS with Nav Package, Premium Package, rear spoiler. I love the Nebula Gray pearl and light gray leather. Traded in my Audi A4 and couldn't be happier. The Lexus dealer was so nice and accommodating (as i've always heard about Lexus dealers). My Audi had so many electrical issues and this Lexus is a dream to drive! You can't feel it shifting and it's so smooth on the highway. Build quality is top notch. My friend got rid of his BMW X3 for an RX350 the same day so we got a great deal!! LOVE Lexus.

Serious flaw in the moonroof when fully retracted. Car vibrates and shakes something awful. Usually happens when the car is traveling around 50 to 60 mph. Only way to stop this is to close moonroof halfway.

Coming from a 04 Ford Focus that let water in every rainy day and had no A/C or frills in sight, I feel like I’m in the cockpit of a space shuttle in this car! I tested a TLX at the dealer when I went to pick this car up and it felt like trash compared to this, truthfully. I don’t agree with edmunds at all on the performance standpoint I’m not really sure what they meant there?? If I wanted a racer I would’ve gotten a q70 or an m3. I bought this car because it’s *more* than quick enough to get me arrested, the interior is incredibly handsome for the price, nothing breaks on this thing! And it’s so comfortable I’ve gotten drowsy on long rides before from sheer cozy comfort. This thing ripped through 6 inches of snow like it was a Jeep Wrangler! I was honestly flabbergasted as I’ve only ever had FWD vehicles previously . The only issue I’ve had w my car since I bought it was a loose negative battery cable that had to be replaced because it couldn’t be secured, which costed less than $10 and under an hour to repair, I’ll take that any day over the bi-weekly $500+ repair my old ford had for literally years. There’s a real good reason you can’t find more than 10 good examples of these in a 150 mile radius, go test drive one yourself, I’m sure it’ll be more than enough for you if you aren’t overcompensating for something.
