I love Lexus! This LUV has a great third row seat that helps hold a total of 7 cheerleaders and one mom! It has all of the luxeries you could want and more! I have the pearl white and the paint is just awesome! I really enjoy this vehicle and I do drive it alot. It was the only midsize LUV with the extra seating room. It is stylish and practical all at the same time!

Bought this 1 owner 2005 from old man in Las Vegas in 2017 with 165k on it. Never been offroad and ZERO rust. The car has only lived in LV. Soon as I got it I replaced all fluids and got rid of the entire suspension. Replaced with Dobinsons front coil-over struts and rear shocks. Installed spring kit and now it rides better than stock witht his 2.5 inch lift. Car had timing belt service at 90k and 160k. Runs like new. Only issue i had was a crack in exhaust mainfold. This is the only really known issue with this engine. I decided to install Doug Thorley headers. Glad I did. 30 more HP and now get around 18 mpg / 23mpg. If you can find one in good shape with little rust, buy it. I got mine for 7500. will never need to sell it. This 4.7L V8 is the best engine Toyota ever made

If you are considering one of these, do not hesitate. I purchased mine for mixed use (daily driver and off-road adventure). The GX470 does both exceptionally well. Since purchasing I have removed the air ride suspension and replaced with specifically designed off-road coil-overs and converted the rear suspension to coil springs. This provided 3 inches of lift, which enabled me to install larger mud terrain tires. This thing is literally a mechanical mountain goat and as sure footed as you could possibly hope for. The Jeepers will make fun, but not after you tackle obstacles they can’t or won’t. Oh and you won’t be breaking things either.

This vehicle is a dream to drive. We took a trip right after we got the vehicle. The optional rear seat entertainment system was very nice to have, as was the optional navigation system. This vehicle drives very quietly for an SUV. It feels more like you are driving a car than an SUV. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone.

Purchased 2005 GX470 after test driving MDX, Navigator, Aviator, Denali, BMW SUV. GX does have an excellent ride BUT Lexus needs to pay more attention to option detail. Lexus NAV system ranks far behind Acura and Mercedes (I own both). Mark Levinson sound system is average, at best. Also ranks behind Acura and Mercedes. Bluetooth phone capability is a joke. Just found out that you can't get a Verizon phone to work with the system. Voice activated NAV and audio is useless. This is a $50,000+ luxury vehicle that should NOT have these issues. Lexus needs to take a look at what Acura (my daughter's TSX) and Mercedes (my wife's E320) have accomplished and learn from them. Thinking of trading in.

Deciding to trade my GS400 for an SUV was a difficult decision. Wanting more room but not a monster vehicle, the GX470 seemed to be everything I was looking for. Having previously driven the LX470 as a primary vehicle, I was not looking forward to a bulky existence. The GX470 is a petite SUV perfect for my petite 5' 2" frame. Better gas mileage would be a plus, but the ability to transport two friends each along with my two children has made up for it. I believe this is about as close as I can get to an SUV that feels more like a car. I have grown to love the car and all it provides for me, as a single Mom, and my children. They love the extra room too.

After surviving a near-fatal 50-mph rearend accident as the driver in a sports car, I wanted something more substantial behind my body. The GX- 470 gives me all the security I need and more. I cannot imagine feeling safer in a vehicle yet the ride and comfort baby my damaged back and neck. The short list is what to change--more cup holders, uhh, dash input for digital player, maybe 4 inches longer for more room for cargo? It's damn near perfect!

EXCELLENT in most details. The 3rd row seat (as an option) it too tight and a joke at $2,000.00 for the price. Other than that EVERY aspect of the Lexus GX- 470 to OUTSTANDING and top quality.

Over all this has been a good vehicle to date. There have been a few problems with the drive shaft slip-yoke. There is also a persistant coolant smell which Lexus claims is normal. Next year I may trade the GX for an '07 Escallade.

This is the perfect SUV for those who want a true offroad (Outer Banks) and super comfortable ride for five passengers loaded with every option known to man. You will think you died and went to heaven. And it runs on REGULAR. Touareg came in second; more stylish and a driver's dream, but reliablity issues, size constraints in the back seat and storage, premium fuel, and poorer mileage .

We've owned the Lexus GX 470 for a month now and find the vehicle to be an excellent SUV which drives smoothly like our Lexus sedan. There is ample interior space to confortably accomadate 5 adults, the 3rd row seat is only useful for small children. We took out the 3rd row seats so we could have more trunk space. Standard equipment includes unique features such as moisture activated windshield wipers, sensors monitoring tire air pressure on all 4 tires plus the spare, and ability to adjust the rear height of the vehicle. Both interior and exterior finish are typical high quality Lexus workmanship. The vehicle's safety features includes curtain airbags protecting passengers from side impact

This is by far the most comfortable riding and roomy SUV I've ever owned. I would highly recommend this car to anyone. The interior features are intuitive and easy to figure out. The designers thought of just about everything - even the easy opening back door. In addition, the exterior is just plain classy!!

We love this vehicle! I traded in a BMW 525i and a Jeep Liberty both with low miles. We can honestly say this is the best driving experience we have ever had. I can assure you that we have had some wonderful automobiles but, nothing beats our 2004 Lexus GX 470. We have style, grace and superior handling all rolled into one vehicle. Long trips are a breeze compared to any other vehicle and I really loved my BMW 525i until I gave it up for a Lexus GX 470. It's a Superb blend of quality and handling. We love it!

Great driving and riding vehicle. Especially love the side hinged rear door, I no longer have to jump or wrestle with pulling down the hatch. GPS is a must, easy to use and very helpful. Would like it more if you could program it while moving. Third row seat too small, and would like the seats to recess into the floor. Handles very well in snowy weather.

The reviews are right. You won't miss the LX 470. The GX 470 is Toyota's best SUV in my mind. All the features and options I wanted at a reasonable price. I even found it fun and easy to install the rear spoiler myself. I would definitely buy one again.

The Lexus GX 470 is probably the most reliable, comfortable, and well designed SUV that I have ever owned. My previous cars were GMC Jimmy, Land Rover, Range Rover, and now GX 470! It is much better than the Range Rover in every way and I can lease 2 GX's for the cost of 1 Range Rover.

The gx has a way of adapting to the driver's personality. We'll call it a friendly machine. When it snowed last week, I drove 190 miles both ways to north jersey as if it were 85 degrees and sunny. On a warm day it seems as if you're driving a bmw 3 series. The levinson radio is real. The current generation navigation system actually works. The 5 speed tranny doesn't miss a shift. And most important to my wife, it's easy to get in and out of the front or back. We rate the gx a 10.

I test drove almost every suv out there. From the moment I drove the GX, I loved it. I now own it for six months. It is wonderful. I recently hit a deer. The car did not skid. It was solid and kept us safe. I love driving it. It feels dreamy to drive. Love the seats, interior, radio etc. This is my first Lexus. I also own a Mercedes C320.... would consider trading it in for a Lexus in the future. The Lexus people have great service.

Over the last 8 years I have owned the following SUVs ... Mitsubishi Montero, Mercedes ML 430, BMW X-5 4.4i, Infiniti FX. All of these have been top of the line and fully loaded with every option in the book. This time, I shortlisted and test drove the Range Rover, The LX470, the Cayenne, the Touareg the MDX, and finally the GX 470. Other then the 3rd seat (which despite the bulk, is still very convenient for my 6 and 10 yr old), there is simply no down side to this SUV. Even the gas mileage is good (18 mpg) considering it weighs in at 6800 pounds. It beats its own older brother (the LX 470) at its game for $15000 less. If you need a large SUV with superb comfort, you need not look any further.

Excellent visibilty and instrumentation is easy to see and adjust. Fuel economy on the low side and fuel tank is grossly undersized.

This vehicle is great. The handling, power and comfort are amazing. The engineers did their homework and anticpated needs I was unaware I had. I strongly recommend the Navagational/DVD options. My model has the Dynamic Kinetic System and drives backroads like it is on rails.

This vehicle is the best car I have ever owned. Its fun to drive, has a lot of passenger room and storage. The gas mileage is much better then most SUVs. It's sporty looking and very versatile.

I bought my GX last month after owning 3 land cruisers. Faster, better handling, more comfortable and of course more luxurious than my Cruisers. Should have bought 2 since my wife drives it everyday. ( and her car is a SLC 230 Kompressor )

Have a 05 4 Runner Ltd. The GX takes that platform and tops it off. They may have the same meat but you can certainly tell the difference and to me worth the price. If a Bells and whistle person you got to give the vehicle a look. soft leather, power steering wheel, 14 speaker Audio, better overall interior. Nav system thought it was high well once have one they are neat. Nice wood accents.

Fun, fun, fun. Going from a 2001 LX470 to a 2004 GX470, the GX is alot more sporty and a hell of a ride. Road trips aren't on the constant lookout for petrol, more of the enjoyment of getting there.

We purchased the car after downsizing from a Toyota Seqouia (which is another great vehicle). Both my children have gotten their licenses and being an active family from skiing to the beach house, this suv gives you the room, comfort and reliability woth no worries

I love my Lexus, I had a Jeep before the Lexus RX 470. The Lexus is an 8 cylinder and the Jeep was a 6 cylinder and we are getting 18.7 miles to the gallon on our Lexus. The same as the 6 cylinder Jeep. I drive about 160 miles a day back and forth to work and home. Gas mileage and comfort is important to me and this SUV delivers everything i could possibly want and more. This March after a snow storm I came upon a patch of road near the river that had frozen and two cars had landed in a ditch the Lexus drove right over the patch of ice and did not slide at all, I did not have the SUV in 4 wheel drive. I feel so safe in this SUV. I love the RX470 and it is well worth the price. I use the GPS all the time.

Excellent car and great service as usual from Lexus. Rear transaxle gets loose and needs to be tightened every 10,000 miles. Lexus stands behind every detail.

I love this car. Like they say once you go Lexus you never go back. The reliability, comfort, and customer service can't be beat. Like I said my seven month old son loves his new car.

I just purchased this suv loaded. I compared the Porsche Cayenne and the BMW X5 and the Mercedes M class. There was no comparison in terms of overall comfort, status and value in the long run. My sister has had hers for about 4 months 2004 and mine is 2005. She loves it more every day and I am starting to love mine too! I know I made the right decision. THe Porsche had more of a wow factor but more time in the shop which I don't need, the mercedes wasn't up to snuff and the BMW was a close second but too trucky. This was MUCH more luxurious. I even was able to add 2 extra seats which wasn't available in the BMW or the Porsche. I am happy.

I had the unfortunate experience of leasing VW touareg before looking at the other cars... It was a big mistake...I decided to take the loss and go with Lexus...it is like night and day between the VW and Lexus... I could not believe how much of a difference there was between the two.. Get a Lexus ... GX 470, RX330 or what ever.. Lexus is great...

I bought my GX470 a month ago, and it meets all my expectations. I have owned 4 other Lexus', all sedans, but I like this model best of all. Plenty of space for my 3 grandchildren, a great entertainment center, and a nice smooth ride all add to our enjoyment. Also, excellent visibility and lots of power under the hood!

Traded in 2003 Range Rover due to really lousy mileage and high test gas requirement; the GX 470 rides like a baby carriage, takes regular gas and is excellent on milage. It is comfortable, easy to drive and very user friendly. Additionally, its spacious cabin and top notch appointments make long hauls a delight. Its ability to "kneel" for exiting of back seat passsengers is a real plus for kids and oldsters, alike. The NAV system and the Blue Tooth capability and voice command ability really puts it ahead of any other SUV I test drove, and the reverse camera is something every car should have! The "dipping" sideview mirrors in Reverse are also very useful.

Anyone who owns this car knows it does everything well. Lexus takes care of you by doing everything well while making you feel that servicing your car isn't an unpleasant chore. I had three bmws in the past and will never own another one while Lexus sells cars. I am currently looking to add another GX and get rid of my last bmw. Owning this car has been a pleasure.

My Lexus GX470 is by far my favorite vehicle. I've had other luxury vehicles in the past but hands down the GX470 outperforms all of them. It's an SUV that can take on the rugged terrain, yet drives like a luxury sedan. The interior is quiet and comfortable. If you have children there is plenty of leg room not to mention 3rd row seating. It's extremely easy to get my infant in and out of the vehicle. No more back problems! More than enough room to throw all of your luggage or shopping bags! I love it!!! Angie from AZ

The best SUV I have owned. Luxury and performance in one vehicle. You will not be disappointed. Compared with other luxury SUVs, the Lexus GX 470 was the one you can't forget. Its quiet and the ride is smooth.

our third gx ... the '05 is stronger , tighter , quicker and more lexus like . better tires than the lx - gx has michelin's , love the bluetooth , improved navigation system , levinson radio equal to the nakamici , 3rd row seat un-necessary forced extra cost option . excellent dealer for sales and service .

After leasing 2 RX300's over the last six years, this is a BIG step up. The deal was outstanding but the vehicle really sold itself. Comfort, power and looks all in one package. I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone in the market for a mid to large size SUV. You won't go wrong.

Great car, however hunts for gears while crusing at 80mph plus up and down hilly terrain. Nothing a supercharger wouldn't fix! I hope TRD is reading this.

The GX470 has a surprisingly quiet and smooth ride for a large vehicle. The suspension allows very comfortable turns at relatively high speeds. The Mark Levinson audio and DVD are a dream. The navigation is very capable but must be programmed with hand brake on. I dont know why a passenger is not allowed to program it on the go. Power is adequate but sure would be nice to have some more.
