Head turner!
Gas mileage isn’t any worse than my F-pace, But surprisingly smooth ride! One thing they don't tell you about, is there is def a parts shortage in the US. Our Defender was hit in the rear whilst parked one night on a street, took 4 months to fix side panels and wait for plastic light parts to repair so thankfully insurance covered a rental that long. Also, like many other owners there is a weird rattle in the front driver side air vent that they have yet to figure out and repair so you have to turn the radio up to not let it rattle you LOL, We've stopped other owners and they too have mentioned they hear it when the temperature is over 90 outdoors. Probably wouldn't buy another one, but it is a fun ride and makes me feel very safe while driving.

Completely Satisfied
Just over 19,000 miles and a year on my 2023 Land Rover Defender S P300, and I've had just two minor issues. Apple CarPlay very rarely doesn't behave and if I toggle the WiFi off/on on my phone the issue is resolved. When Start/Stop activates, it will very rarely start back up in Neutral, but I did my research before purchasing a Rover and am pretty unbothered by these minor quirks that show themselves rarely.

Great car but acceleration lag
I bought this vehicle weeks ago from a dealer. So far interior and exterior are great. I tried some light offroading and no issues. That might be too easy. No issues on the highway too. I have seen some glitches in the infotainment system but that was something I expected. I don't have any serious reliability issues (yet). Cargo management is great because there are so many points to hook. 2.0L engine gives enough power for me but it has acceleration lag. It happens in various situations, but the most obvious case is when I was cruising at low RPM and pressing the gas pedal to the bottom quickly. When it happens, there is no reaction from the engine for about a second, and then suddenly downshift happens and deliver the power more than I wanted. While I'm pressing the gas pedal and waiting, I don't know when the acceleration will happen. It's annoying and unsafe. It feels like a turbo lag but it could be something else (for example cutting off the fuel), because I can expect faster downshifting if it is just a turbo lag. Although there is a way to mitigate the symptom. If I press the gas pedal about 20% before the moment I actually want to accelerate, then the engine reacts much quicker even it doesn't change RPM much. Probably the partial gas pedal pressing tells the system "I might want to go faster". It does something to prepare for the coming acceleration.

Curb Appeal - Tops G-Wagon; Rivals Bentley
I ordered a 2020 Defender X during the summer of 2020 and due to COVID, I got a 2021. I have already taken the vehicle off road at Rover's facility in Asheville, NC. It was awesome going up and down the Blue Ridge Mountains and it is a very capable care on-road as well. I have had a couple of small electronic glitches, which is expected based on the amount of technology in the vehicle. After about 2 months following my purchase, the panoramic sun roof would not open and I had to get it fixed at the dealers. I also had issues with the infotainment system's connectivity to my phone (the screen would do wild and crazy things). This seems to have been resolved with one of the many software updates that Rover automatically pushes out to the on board computer. The exterior and interior are universally LOVED by everyone!! I get more compliments in this vehicle than in any vehicle that I have ever owned, including my 2006 Rover Sport (Orange), Benz SL 55AMG Convertible, BMW 650I Convertible (you get the picture). I LOVE THIS VEHICLE Note: My model is not listed on the drop down list. I have the 110X - Turbo Charged 6 Cylinder.

So far sooo good, 4 Cylinder in Habuka Silver
What’s with all the negative reviews I’ve read? Everyone needs to take a chill pill and stop being pre madonnas. Coming from Mercedes’, that brand I would say has more issues than my new defender. Two biggest things I hated about the 2020 GLE was the remote start would shut off when you opened the door, what’s the point of remote start, and if you hit the lock button on the remote twice it deactivates your keyless door handles. Anyway, about my LR Defender, Ordered mine with everything I wanted. At least budget wise, haha. I was skeptic on the 4 cylinder, but with over 600 miles now in I can say it’s more than adequate. Mainly it’s the ZF transmission that makes this engine feel more than it is given this cars weight. Overtaking cars on the highway is more than doable, quick shifts and power to my surprise. It’s not mind blowing by anyway, but gets the job done in sorta a peppy way. I’m getting 16 MPG combined, fyi! Was dreading this engine reminiscent of back in the day wrangler unlimited’s 3.8 V6 where flooring it got you no where. Aside from the engine notes, everything else is working dandy. I’ve had no issues. I traded in a 2020 Mercedes GLE, as mentioned above, and can say in addition i’ve had issues with the MBUX system and apple car play connectivity. More that once the system went into a safe mode. Also took forever to load and be able to change the AC or change something. I’ve maybe had one instance where my apple car play didn’t connect to the defender, no biggie. And can say this loads quicker giving you access to do basic things like turn on the AC immediately after starting it. My cluster is also fully digital and works with no issues. My only gripe right now is the auto sunscreen closure for the pano sunroof when you shut your car off and lock it, wish LR would give you the option to deactivate it. Recommend the convenience pack for the ambient lighting, gives the interior the pop it needs. Oh and my seats are semi Manual, for a 64k car i’d expect basic power. All in all, I’m content!
