Lots of Car in an Affordable Package.
We bought this car for our 16 year old daughter and she loves it. We got the EX package with AWD and the 6 cylinder engine. It is just the right car for a teenage driver.

Kia Sorento GDI 2.4L LX 2012
Just leased this from Kia Sacramento, black color. I have done about 800 miles in the last week and have mixed feelings about the suv. I got the GDI assuming I would get a mixed mileage of about 25mpg but I am only getting about 19-23 mpg city and highway. This is a letdown for sure. I hope it increase down the line as the engine breaksin. The power seems adequate with 1-2 ppl in the car but with 4-5 ppl the car feels underpowered and I wish I had got the v6 engine if I was to get 20mpg anyway. The ride is stiff and tends to wear you down and i feel tired after a trip which was never the case in my well sprung camry. UVO has issues with bluetooth conectivity.

Great for the money I paid
Make sure the tires are in good shape, even the new tires can be flat due to excessive parking and not moving it on the dealer, I have to change the tires one week after I got it, and of course for being an used car the dealer wouldn't take any responsibility about it... for the rest it's a great car good gas saving for an SUV. Very convenient for more than 5 passengers, the infinity sound system is amazing, A/C is great even in the second and third row seats. Very reliable car.

Not a Q5 but close enough for waaaay less
So my sister got a used 2015 Q5 for 25k, I got a used 2013 Sorento Ex V6 AWD all the bells and whistles for 12k about the same time back in 2020, before the prices went berserk. Three year driving review: yes, her Q5 is definitely an A+, I have driven it 5k miles. I drive her car spirited. The thing is, I never mind coming home and driving my Sorento, in fact the driving position is slightly higher and preferable, and the controls for radio, blue tooth, ac etc are more intuitive, so my car gets a B+ for driving compared to hers and A+ for value. I have driven this Sorento 37k over 3 years. Yes, you have to drive a little less spirited on twisty country roads compared to the Q5 but the daily driving in the Sorento is great, the V6 has plenty of power to pull up long steep grades, you get through twisty country roads just fine at a slightly less spirited pace, gets through the snow just fine, easy to park, won't move your couch but will fit that bike or 75 in TV with the split seat down.Fits 4 adults for a road trip. The back seat fits 3 skinny teens, maybe two car seats and a booster, definitely one car seat, a booster and one kid. Love my dual moon roof. Visibility is average. The cost to own is way less. I replace a battery for $200 and it lasts 5 years, she replaced a battery for $1000 and it lasts 7 years. It's average for a mainly fwd car on tires and brakes, depends on how and where you drive. I buy better tires and rotate with every oil change. I do lots of turns, hills, and stops, so every 35k/3 years or so for me. That is true if all our cars, regardless of make. I service the Sorento as recommended. The 3.5 V6 is a strong motor, make sure you get a V6, would be underpowered with a smaller engine imo. I average 18 mpg with mostly city/ suburban driving, 22 for road trips at 70 mph. I did remove my cross bars on the roof rack. I have AWD with locking differential if I need it. And the AC is strong, love my heated seats too. It's 11 years old, 87k miles, the interior is in great condition, no rattles etc. I did get one that was well maintained. It's a good value SUV without really any compromises for a daily driver if you need AWD. Yes, I have the 3rd row seat, it's for the under 10 set only, low boosters yes, car seats nope. On the few occasions I need it, it's handy and the kiddos like it. I would not plan on using the 3 rd row daily unless you have a 5 or 7 year old who loves that spot and likes to scramble over...do yourself and your kids a favor and get a minivan if you need that 3rd row daily (trust me, love me a minivan until the kids graduate college...you gotta haul all their stuff, nothing beats minivans when you got kids, sports, teenage drivers, and college). Cost to own and maintain is reasonable. I also own Toyotas and Subarus, do I think it will last 20 years, maybe, go 225,000k miles effortlessly, maybe. Will it go to 150 to 175k with good maintenance, most probably yes. One last note, drivers over 6 2ft will be comfortable but may find windshield a little low. 5ft 10 and under, no issues.

Love the dash!
This car is sleek on the outside and edgy on the inside. Woodgrain design along with bi-colored interior. Easy to work Dashboard functions and I love the third row seating!
