Used 2017 Kia Optima Consumer Reviews
Newer isn't better
I had an 2013 Optima ex and loved it. No complaints or issues. They made me a great trade in offer so I upgraded to a 2017 Optima Ex. Worst decision I could have made. From day one it has been trouble. My transmission slips and the claim the can't replicate it or find a problem. My right mirror will not save memory so I have to set it everytime. Again they can't seem to fix it. My radio has been replaced because it would not display heat/air settings. To top it off the lifters are now knocking when I crank it. I only have 40,000 miles on it. I wish I had kept my 2013.

Homerun for the money.
My 3rd optima keep stepping up. Now at the sxl. They are just good cars. No they aren’t Audi’s or the like but what do you expect. Mine listed for 37. Got it for 29 and change admittedly 37 is just to much. 29 however is a steal. I will have had it 2 yrs November and I have that itch. Want a new car for wants sake. Then I get in my car and drive it. It’s great truly. Nice styling. White with Crome package good stereo and all the creature comforts. Is it a sports car. No! But ample power. Even the paddle shifters are a hoot. The trans could be quicker. But it’s a sedan so that’s what you get. Honestly they made this car , for the money; to good. And to step up cost. 40-50. And do I really get that much more ? As of right now. I will say if u do go for an optima make sure you get the 18 inch wheels. Not the 17’s the make a huge difference

love my new car.......BUT
I still love my car. It is very comfortable and stylish looking. Since my first review I have had a problem with my battery draining for no reason. The technicians cannot seem to find the problem. This has happened four times already. I have since researched this problem and it has happened to many people both with new cars and used. The ones who have bought used are stuck with the bills. Mine is still under warranty now but if it continues I will have to trade this in.

Never buy a KIA - Engines are trash
If you are buying a used Kia, make sure you are ready to replace the engine. Buying new, be prepared to be denied warranty work to replace your engine. DO NOT BUY A KIA. The warranty is trash. Their engines are trash. Kia support and their policies are trash. Google Kia engine recalls. I have a 2016 Optima I purchased new. By 70k miles I noticed that there was a lot of oil missing between oil changes. By 80k I knew there was something seriously wrong and had Kia do an oil consumption test. They confirmed it is burning 3 quarts between oil changes. That is over 1/2 a quart every 1k miles. Kia states this is within normal operating parameters! WTF. the car only holds 5.1 quarts and is burning 60% of its oil between recommended oil changes and they claim that is normal. Stay away from Kia. I will never buy another Kia again.
