Quality keeps improving in JGC
This is our fifth Jeep since the '84 Cherokee(which was totaled one night but my wife walked away from.) We bought this used off a lease return with about 21K miles. It now has over 48K and has been a rugged performer driving through some very harrowing winter conditions here in the Cascades; all of it without any major failures of any equipment. Better gas mileage than any of it's predecessors(18.1mpg)with more power than expected. Great visibilty, good road feel: just an easy car to drive.
I think overall it was a good purchase.
I think the Jeep is beatiful, and it runs excellent. I've kept it in good shape, and pretty much the only thing I regret about it is not getting the sunroof. It has needed only the following minor repairs, so I think the 100k miles extended Chrysler warrantee I got was necessary: some problem with a transmission seal, the lock mechanism wouldn't let me start the car one day, fuel pump needed to be replaced. So only twice in 2 years I have not been able to drive it. The warranty covered 100%. so It was not bad at all, considering this Jeep is an awesome ride, very comfortable in long and short drives,

Whew - feelin' lucky!
My 2000 Laredo 4WD must have been built weeks or months after the ones that most of the reviewers here seem to have gotten. We're at 57,000 miles; live in north-central PA, where we get all 4 seasons. On our second set of brakes. Vehicle does local and long-haul equally well; on and off-road equally well. My daughter recently t-boned someone with it, and after repairs, you can't tell. I was bounced off of the guardrails a week ago at 75, and again, you can barely tell. It, like the 93 Laredo 4WD I bought with 90k miles on it 4 years ago, is a tank. The 93 has 165k miles and just goes. I'd probably get another one.
DON'T DO IT !!
Brake rotor problem at 16,000 miles. The transmission shifted real hard and makes a clunking noise when doing so. I took it to a 3rd party service center and had them do a transmission service on it (at 30,000 miles !!!!) and that seems to have helped. The ignition had to be replaced because the key would not turn anymore. The vehicle also had that problem with the fuel pump where it takes 3 tries to get it started. That was fixed during the warranty by a recall. My next door neighbor had the exact same problems and a couple others. I feel like I bought a jacked up 33,000 dodge aries k car.
