Overview

In today's electrified landscape, we're accustomed to seeing new EV brands and challengers. But introducing a new brand — and a new model — into the hardened truck market is a bold business move. The 2026 Ineos Quartermaster pickup truck isn't trying to shake up the truck market, however. Now in its third year of production, the Quartermaster takes a more adventurous off-road angle. It's based on the similarly intrepid Grenadier SUV, and it adds a measure of luxury befitting its nearly six-figure price. Its 5-foot bed is about the same length as most midsize truck beds, giving it respectable utility hauling capability. Underhood, the BMW-sourced powertrain delivers robust power and reliability.
Edmunds spotlight: Reducing the risk
Buying a new model from an unknown brand is a gamble, especially one built for the rigors of off-road that starts at nearly six figures. Ineos eases the worry by backing the Quartermaster with a five-year/60,000-mile basic warranty. That covers the powertrain, which shouldn't be a top concern given its proven durability in dozens of BMW models. Ineos also adds 12 years of rust coverage. Both are better than most warranties offered by luxury brands or the Jeep Gladiator, perhaps the Quartermaster's closest competitor. And while the Quartermaster isn't intended to do heavy hauling, it outperforms the Jeep with a 7,716-pound maximum towing capacity and 1,889-pound payload capacity.
Competitors to consider
Jeep's unique half-truck, half-SUV Gladiator has remained unchallenged for nearly seven years. And at half the price of the Quartermaster, it's hard to see the Jeep as a direct threat. But the Gladiator's ladder frame and two coil-sprung axles share the same basic design as the Quartermaster, even if it lacks the latter's retro Land Rover-ish charm. Then again, you can't pull the doors and roof off the Quartermaster and ride alfresco like you can in the Gladiator. If you're just looking for a midsize truck to do truck things, better options include the Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger and Chevy Colorado.
2026 INEOS Grenadier Quartermaster trim level differences
The 2026 Ineos Quartermaster is available in two trims: Quartermaster Trialmaster Edition and Quartermaster Fieldmaster Edition. Each is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder (282 horsepower, 332 lb-ft of torque) joined to an eight-speed automatic transmission, full-time four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case, and a locking center differential.
Which Grenadier Quartermaster trim does Edmunds recommend?
Both trims cost the same, so we suggest leaning into the Quartermaster's off-road intentions with the Trialmaster Edition. Neither true midsize truck nor luxury hauler, the Quartermaster makes the most sense in its most capable form, which comes with standard front and rear locking differentials, BFGoodrich off-road tires and a raised air intake.
