Used 2005 Hyundai Tucson Consumer Reviews
3 month impression
Handles very nice. Light steering, good road control and power in the mountains. Handled very well in snow and sand. Gas mileage no better than my 95 chevy blazer (17 -21 mpg). Dealership has poor sales service, don't go to Bob Lewis! Paint easily damaged by bird droppings. Good stereo system. Relatively quite ride. Good cargo space for a small suv. Driver and passenger seats very comfortable. Not too many blind spots. Can get 4 full grown men in the care with golf clubs! Recommendation: fix gas mileage and dealership.
Happy, but not ecstatic about Tucson
Pretty little SUV - looks like a new Lexus, except I have dual exhaust and they don't! Gas mileage is fair - I was disappointed (same as my big 8 cyl Mercury Grand Marquis) Buzzy stereo system - I'll probably have it replaced. Need power seats! No need for the automatic/manual shift. Did have engine light come on once- defective "speed sensor."

First Impressions
We bought our new Tucson about a month ago. The performance of this car is about average. It seems that something is holding it back, the ride is not smooth at all. Engine noise is prohibitive, maybe its just our car but at slow speed engine is whinning (reminds me of famous German planes Stuka during WWII). Gas mileage is awful barely 20 mpg mostly hihgway. This is 2.0L engine for God's sake!; my 15 year old Chevy was doing 24-25. Gas pedal is in wierd position for me, get tired very easily during long drives. Leg space for passenger is OK. Overall, this is "you get what you paid for vehicle". For the money (we paid 16,250 before tax) its OK buy, dont expect great things out of it.
2005 tuscon gls 4wd 2.7 V6
This vehicle has been with us for 1 month and there is a problem with it surging. The engine has died several times. It has been with the dealership for almost a week now. No one has bothered to diagnose the problem as of yet. The dealership did not want to give up a loaner in the meantime. we had to contact Hyundai to get the dealership to give a loaner while this one is being serviced. The dealership has only 2 techs. So they are backed up on service. All dealerships in the area are backed up and the wait time is always at least 2 weeks. What do you think? 1 month of ownership, 1400 miles, still in shop after 1 week waiting for repair, dealership making a bad situation worse.
My Tuson
The tuson is one of the nicest small SUV I found. I looked at a lot of them including the RAV4 and the Honda CRV, the tuson has lots more room and the the ride is one of the best I found. Was able to get the gas millege up to 25 city and 32 hwy with amsoil 0W-30 and a K&N airfilter.
