Great Value for the Money

I traded in a 2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE for this 2016 Sonata Hybrid Limited. I liked my Toyota but I love this Sonata Hybrid! It has features of higher end cars (ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, etc). It rides almost like a luxury car and I'm getting 44 MPG around town and I've only had it a week. It's fun to drive too and has plenty of pickup. It was a great value for the price. I looked at and test drove a 2017 Camry Hybrid and a 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid but the Sonata won out due to the price, features and handling.

I love the looks & body lines of this car. I have received many compliments. The limited with ultimate package offers many features that would cost thousands more from other manufactures. Mileage started from 40 mpg to 46 mpg depending on how I drive and what gas I use but now is 37 mpg to 42 mpg. Lower octane gas with ethanol gets lower gas mileage. The vehicle is very quiet, smooth, comfortable, ride. My 40 minute commute is much more comfortable in the Sonata then in my previous 2012 Toyota Prius 4. There is a lot more room. The audio, phone, & GPS controls work well although they don't always work flawlessly with my I-phone 7. I don't always like how the car shifts. At times it shifts awkwardly in the 2nd & 3rd gears. After three years of use and at 100K mileage had random misfire on cylinder 3 that was diagnosed as a bad fuel injector. Replaced all the fuel injectors and problem was still there. I believe due to the vehicle being GDI the intake was carboned up and causing the problem. The volume switch on steering wheel broke and needed replaced. Bottom heat shield just fell off one day. I went to trade and care worth nothing. Will not buy Hyundai again. Stick to Toyota or Honda.

We originally purchased the car for my wife to drive. It quickly became her favorite car ever with the features she loved. Vented seats, blind spot warning, automatic high beams to name a few. The mileage was fantastic performing way over the estimates, 47 mpg combined. Of course, you had to drive for mileage but that isn't a problem. We pick up our new one next week since our first one was totaled by a person of questionable intelligence cutting 3 lanes of traffic on a busy road. My wife was bruised and sore, but she walked away from the wreck. The car did it's job in keeping her from further harm. I am a rather large person and am able to get into and out of the car quite easily (no tow truck or crane needed). The seats are comfortable front and rear with plenty of head and leg room. My personal vehicle is an F-150 crew cab but I don't protest taking the car on longer trips, especially at the gas pumps! We enjoyed the car so much her replacement is a twin except in color. ***14.500 mile update: Just completed a 900 mile trip to Nashville at posted speed limits and a week of in town driving. Obtained 41.9 mpg round trip.

Went from a Genesis Coupe to the 2016 Sonata Hybrid SE. The Sonata has a lot of nice features and it is very quiet, we call it the golf cart since in EV mode its really quiet. Measuring gas mileage the old fashioned way; miles vs gallons pumped, my first tank gave me mixed driving 42.2 MPG. My mixed driving is back roads, towns and I-95 traffic moving at just under NASCAR speeds with AC all the way. Daily drives using the computer, I have seen everything from 36 - 89 MPG at shut off. The car shifts smooth and you may not know if you are on battery or gas unless you look at your gauges. The car has three driving modes; eco, regular, sport and you can feel real differences in all of them. On another note this car gets the same gas mileage as my motorcycle ....

Great car, except for the hybrid engine problem

The 2016 Sonata hybrid is a great car; comfortable ride, good performance, handling, great safety features...they retrofitted Android Auto. It's been a great vehicle so far...until now. This year, hybrid system has conked out twice...car just dies and you have to pull over. First time, wife was close to dealer. Second time I pulled over, shut off engine, then started. Both gas and hybrid engines started but check engine light is on. Dealer has it; they have been great about it, giving us free loaners each time...but they need to find and fix cause; we are not confident in the hybrid reliability now.
