My new Hyundai has 4500 miles and has been in the shop five times. It is in the shop now (three days so far). It looks good, drives well, has horrible gas mileage (averages 15 m.p.g.).I have owned Ford Explorers, Jeep Grand Cherokees, two Acura MDX, and now this. There is a unfixable squeak on both front doors when your elbows tough them .

This vehicle is worth every penny I paid for it. The exterior body design is such an improvement over past Sante Fe's. The interior is well laid out and uses quality materials. Leather Seats on the limited are more comfortable than the cloth seats. All the built in safety features make it very insurance friendly.

Braking Problem

I have 2007 Senta Fe that had CV joint rotation issue. i had it replaced. Later I have an issue with its breaks. It seems to have a longer breaking distance than SUVs I ownered before. In the last snow storm, the vehicle failed to stop safely within 25 feet @ a speed of 15 MPH. It resulted in a $6000 frontal damage to my car, with minor damage to car in front. I had the brakes checked and the shop told me that brakes/ pads are fine. I do not know how to correct this issue. Can anyone advise me how to resolve this issue? Thanks.

Compared to the 2005 Santa Fe the 2007 blows it away. The curve handling and smooth accceleration makes the driving exerience more pleasant. Road noise has been reduced also. Great vehicle.

We like the handling of the vehicle, the MPH with mixed driving is anywhere from 22 mph to 26.7 mph, it drives through heavy snow very well. We love the third seat (we have a seven year old and friends). The heated seats are excellent, better than our Lexus! Storage for this and that is great.

I am from Canada. Even though I have my Santa Fe 3.3 GL Premium (7 pass) just over a week, I am enjoying very moment of it. It is well built, and fun to drive. The ride is a bit firm, and you can feel the bump (when offroad). Compared to other SUV/CUVs that I test drove, this SF strikes me hard on its comfort, quality, and quietness. Oh, it is a very quiet car. The 3rd row seats are great for kids, but I don't use it alot.

We purchased this car for my wife - who wanted a new car, but really only cared about looks. She really wanted the Lexus, but was out of our price range. Since our purchase, she is unbelievably happy. For that matter, so am I. The car drives great, handles decent, has a GREAT turning radius, with an easy to learn interior. I just hope the long-term owning experience is as pleasureable as the immediate. We opted not to get the sunroof - it seemed like it added substantial cabin noise while test driving.

I have had serious issues with numerous sensors that make the vehicle impossible to inspect. According to the dealer there also appears to be a short in the air bag and they can't say for sure if it works. The dealer refuses to fix any of the electrical problems because it has 70,000 miles. As far as I am concerned the car is worthless.

I currently own a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS AWD and it is amazing! this vehicle has served me and my family well for over 12 years with little to no repairs done at all! I have had no major/minor repairs done ever besides basic necessary maintenance. I have just reached 106,XXX miles with no problems at all even though its a city car. I have no concerns/disappointments with this very reliable vehicle. This vehicle is very safe also earning a 2007 IIHS top saftey pick award. I would most certainly recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a affordable, safe, and reliable vehicle weather its for you, or to take your kids to a on vacations. This car has served very very well for the past 12 years. I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone that wants value, reliability, styling, and comfort, safety, and a reliable vehicle. This vehicle in my opinion is as, or more reliable as any past or present Toyota vehicle. I truly think this is the most reliable CUV out there right now. I would highly recommend this. If you have the opportunity I would buy this vehicle over any Honda, Toyota, Nissan, etc. This car also does amazing in the snow, rain, sleet, ice, etc. it has the best AWD system in a car in my opinion! Again this a AMAZING CAR!!! BUY NOW!!!

Chronic Sensor Problems

4 of 5 people found this review helpful

Although a comfortable car, I have had chronic problems with the sensors since it reached about 13,000 miles. I currently only have 21,000 miles, and yet it has been in the shop three times this summer, and probably 8 times last summer. Every time they think they have found which sensor it is, a few weeks later the check engine light comes on after the car starts hesitating and what seems like misfiring. When you pay $26000 for a new car, you should be able to rely on it when you still have such low mileage.

When I first bought my Santa Fe, I was more than excited. I loved the car, had a great buying experience. 10 months later, I am in arbitration with Hyundai! The transmission slips, the 02 sensors have gone out twice, get 50 miles out of a 1/2 tank of gas, all fuses and sensors had to be replaced, and more. The car has been in the shop for almost 45 days since purchase. Don't let the great warranty fool you, I have had nothing but problems with the company and dealers I have used. If the BBB decides Hyundai does not have to buy back, I will fight it to the end. Waste of my hard earned money!

I bought this vehicle new in 2006 and just recently traded it on a newer vehicle. The Hyundai was very reliable, had good interior room and got about 21 miles to the gallon. The only issues I had with the vehicle were the electronic hvac controls never worked 100% accurately, even after the original controller was replaced. Also, the pulse windshield wiper only worked on one speed, not the 5 speeds it was supposed to have.

This vehicle is an exceptional purchase in every way save for one key item, I only get 15.9 mpg in town. Though driving long distances this does get up to abut 23 mpg, I am very dismayed at this mileage. And yes, I do tend to have a heavier foot, but this is too low for a "smaller" SUV. One other small issue is a creaking noise in the cabin coming from the dashboard, maybe was put together too tight or something? Otherwise, everything else feels like a luxury SUV about this vehicle. Great power, nice looks, decent room, very cool lighting at night.

Overall, I absolutely love the Santa Fe. I bought one in the Powder White Pearl color, which I think is very sharp. Love the handling, the pick-up, and its very comfortable to drive. Tons of room in the back. The only problem I have is with the outside temperature guage. Due to its location, the only accurate reading is when the vehicle is stationary. Once moving, the reading either drops by 10+ degrees, or just goes blank.

This is the first Hyundai that we've owned. We are long-term Honda and Toyota drivers. It was my 15-year-old daughter who urged me to test drive a Santa Fe. Boy, am I glad she did. I was trying to convince myself that I really wanted the new Honda CRV,but the road noise was so bad and the ride so uncomfortable, that I was not happy with it. The Rav4 wasn't impressing me either. Then I drove the Santa Fe, fully expecting that I wouldn't care for it. Well, was I wrong. I was sold the moment I drove it off the lot for the test drive. It was so smooth, so comfortable, so quiet. My dealer was great. And the best part, because my daughter urged me to try it, she got a finder's fee ... sweet.

We bought this after owning a CRV. We really liked having the V6, the ride quality, and how smooth of a ride it gave off. We were also impressed that the V6 gave us very similar gas mileage as the CRV but with so much more power. However the love affair began wearing off this past year. We had the Check Engine light come on 3 times and then the Passenger Seat Airbag light began going crazy. Everytime our dealership gave us crap answers that something needed reset, recalibrate, or as in the case of the seat could not replicate. Nothing ever got fixed. So in the end between the dealership experience(only Hyundai dealer in area) & the car issues this was probably our one and only Hynudai.

I bought this car and two days later it needed an alignment. Two weeks later the drive shaft had a defective washers. About a 6 weeks later the engine mount broke. Not to mention the window molding falling off. And now it makes a noise everytime I pull into my driveway, I was told it was the ABS and that it just makes that noise. Save yourself time and money, shop for a different vehicle.

The restyling of the vehicle is just the beginning of how incredible this vehicle is. It's very nice on the outside and (the Limited trim) comes with all the options a driver would really need for comfort, sophistication, pleasure and fun. The standard safety features (Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control System, ABS, air bags all around, Tire Pressure Monitoring System) are included in each level trim unlike other manufacturers who will often charge extra for such safety features. There are too many other standard features to list and any consumer would be surprised to see what the list is comprised of (available on the hyundaiusa.com website). Worth a look if not a purchase.

I have been a loyal Hyundai owner since 1993. My first Hyundai was the hatchback excell in '93, then newly intriduced Elantra in '94, another Elantra in '99 and now the newly redesigned 2007 Santa Fe. I LOVE IT. I still have the '99 Elentra, and with over 117K miles it is still going strong. I have no complaints about the Santa Fe and my friends thought it was a lexus when I first showed it to them. It is very stylish, and well put together. Kudos to Hyundai and their team.

My Dodge Dakota Lease expired so I looked for another truck-like vehicle with a 6 cyl. vs. an 8. After all the research my wife and I bought the fully loaded Limited. So far we have c.4000 mi. and have really enjoyed this. We have traveled to OKC and San Antonio since Dec. 20 and commute about 70 mi.RT. The rear seat entertainment with the Infinity sound system is worth it. If I have to drive this is the way to go. The power is more than adequate (too many tickets anyway) and I can haul lots of stuff and/or passengers. I drive about 5 to 10 over the limit but sometimes look down and I'm doing 90. My point is I'm getting about 21mpg and that's not bad for a rating of 20-24mpg.

I totally agree with the other reviews on gas mileage, and i get as advertised..on the first 3-4 tanks. i just bought on 12-31..but the styling and ride as well as the price i was out the door for 21500... it has close comparisons to the RX-330 and blows away competion at price/warranty

Honestly, i was iffy about getting a hyundai at first, but it seems they have improved a lot over the years. I just bought my Sante Fe this afternoon, and it's great! I love the interior!! I was comparing it to my friend's '07 Infiniti G35. All I know is I love my interior better!! Love the heated seats, dashboard light dimmers, and all that space in the trunk. Not to mention how smooth it drives. I was lucky enough to get my Limited Edition for a very good price. All I can say is that I'm extremely satisfied... for now atleast! Let me drive it around for another year or so and I'll be back with more info.

Owned this car for a year & a half and have had nothing but problems. Sway bar bolts (or something to that effect) had to be replaced. A/C died -- need a new compressor ($1000+), and now we need new fuel level sensors. The most disturbing thing is our mechanic has told us that ALL of these problems are common with the 07 Santa Fe. We bought this car because of Hyundai's great reputation, but I can tell you, we're not impressed. Will never buy another Hyundai.

Hyundai has continued to build more stylish vehicles, improve quality, and keep prices reasonable. This suv compares in options to the more expensive Lexus and Acura, but at a more reasonable price. Of course, its not equal in quality , materials, and status as the forementioned. Safety is the main concern for me. This suv is filled with safety devices from the air bags to the drivetrain. I'm waitng for the side impact crash results. The one area of concern is the very long stopping distance. I'm cinfident Hyundai will correct this problem.

I love this car with the exception of getting in and out. The previous owner put bigger tires on it which makes getting in and out difficult for a short person. It had 63,546 miles on it when we bought it used. So within 6 months of owning the car i will have to have timing belt replaced! That should been done refore car was ever put out to be sold!

Had to put new tires on at 18,000 miles, along with new rear brakes. Hyundai would NOT even speak to us about it. "Wear Items". Now at 25000 miles it has been in the shop 4 times for throttle sensor issues. Actually had the dealer I purchased the vehicle from deem the car UNSAFE to drive out of their repair shop at 18,000 miles. RIDICULOUS. Never owned such a undependable vehicle. Will NEVER purchase another Hyundai. Currently getting ready to contact an attorney in regards to this terrible vehicle. SAVE YOUR MONEY!

You'll be tempted but DON'T Buy It. Value is relative and warranty is only as good as the Company. And that isn't so good. Mine has been in the shop hals as long as I ave owned it. Poor residual value and high operation costs significantly reduce perceived value. Sucks gas like a Hummer, poor ride-handling, partly due to junk Bridgestone Dueler tires. Very severe torque steer. The whole car is a set of trade offs. A lot of features, but all very poor quality. I will trade soon and eat the loss but be done with it. I'll stick with Honda or Toyota, or even GM is better.

I am impressed - not much out there that delivers that much value. 100K, 10yr bumper2bumper warranty upgrade is a no-brainer. The quality is convincing, the design well thought out. Plenty of room and the air-vents in the cargo area are perfect for dog owners. Low-tire pressure warning - nice touch, but the tires are not something to write home about... I hope the mpgs will come up a little as the engine settles in. Handles really well, smooth, quiet ride (which would probably improve quite a bit with better rubber). However, be prepared to sit in the dark, if you have the DVD installed - the interior light in the back does not do much for the front row - the front ones are for reading only!

I need help! In the year 2006 I bought a 2007 Santa Fe. Now the timing belt needs replacing. I was told that it was not warranty? The reason that I bought the car in the first place was because of the 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty! Lottie Holmes

I love the car. It looks and drives very well. Loaded with power seats and DVD player is only 32,000! That's good compared to Honda Pilot or even Acura MDX.

I bought this vehicle almost totally based on looks then the problems started i put a new transmission in it at 22,000 KM then i got it towed to Saskatoon cause the speedometer was bouncing up and down and the check engine light came on got it there and they said nothing was wrong then the found that the brain was not working they replaced that then the sunroof started to leak so they replaced that after they did that it leaked worse now they say there is nothing they can do to fix it then i broke down on my way to Edmonton the fuel control throttle went on it and they had it for about a week to fix that i have had nothing but problems i talked to Hyundai Canada and they won't do anything!!

My husband drove a 2004 Santa Fe and I drove a 2003 Santa Fe. We have enjoyed the comfort and dependability of both our vehicles. I just got my new 2007 Santa Fe as a birthday gift -- WOW! It truly is a luxury ride. Several people have asked my what type car it is at the gas station. I would put it up against any of those higher priced luxury rides any day.

Purchased for wife 12 months ago, she averages 19mpg city and on highway trips we are averaging 26.5mpg (500 mile trips). I don't know why other posts are lower, maybe we got a "good" one, we bought the FWD, not the AWD. Cuts through Wisconsin snow like butter, even with just FWD. SMOOTH and QUIET, I challenge you to find a smoother riding and quieter vehicle for under 30k. Fit and finish exceeded our expectations, our neighbor owns a Lexus RX330, I feel our Santa Fe matches the Lexus across the boards. Just a great value, Hyundai has definetly stepped up their game. We were initially scared to buy the Santa Fe because it was a "Hyundai", after one year, NO REGRETS, Great purchase!

Impressed with Our Santa Fe!

We replaced a 2002 Toyota Highlander with the 2007 Santa Fe and have not regretted our choice. The new restyled Highlander would have been $8K more than the Santa Fe for the same features. The V6 powertrain on our Limited is smooth, quiet, and powerful and would make you think you are in a $50K Lexus. Overall features and quality appear to be top notch. Another family member has a 2003 Santa Fe (old body style) and has had a great experience. The only criticism is that the standard stereo (w/XM) on the Limited is somewhat weak, to get the upgraded Infiniti system you have to also get the rear entertainment system (DVD) which with no kids we don't need. Perhaps this is changed for 2008.

I bought the car new in November 2007. Having high hopes this would be the last car I would have to buy for a long time. I had the car in for the 15,000 mile maintenance in July 2009 and mentioned it had started making a roaring noise, more prevalent at lower speeds. I was told it was tire noise and the tires were feathering. I have had the tires rotated at the specified times why would they feather? If they are feathering at 15,000 miles something's wrong! I have not been able to get any results from Hyundai as to the real problem. The car is also downshifting hard at 30 miles when coming to a stop. I don't think I'll be buying any make, model or type of Hyundai again.
