2017 Hyundai Elantra Ltd (Love the Deal)

Not easy entry for Extra-Large people. Otherwise, it's an affordable car pretending to be a luxury/sports car and it make you believe it.

Avoid Hyundai at all costs

This is the worst car we have ever had in the family. 90k miles the upper end of the motor went out under warranty. Very well taken care of car. after fighting Hyundai to honor their own 100k mile warranty it was back on the road. Now at 105 the lower end of the motor goes out, Hyundai could care less and even stated this is a wide spread problem. Even while at the dealership a newer Elantra was being towed in for losing it's motor. Do not buy any Hyundai made after 2011. They can not make a motor to save their lives. These ill milling of the oil pathways in the motors continues into 2023 with every new model.

Hyundai is despicable

Persistent engine issues - I've had to replace an engine coil every year I've had this car. Product Recall - Front door handle would lock and you'd have to reach across from the other site to get into your car Peeling and chipping white paint CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE - They offered an extended warranty for the peeling paint which I immediately reached out to my dealership (Young Hyundai, Ogden UT). The dealership turned me away and said my warranty was out of scope even though I was just notified about the change. Hyundai Corporate has been unresponsive and useless. I get automated replies and no follow up. Truly a terrible experience which has left a bad taste in my mouth. They have lost a customer for life.

Love my Car!!!

I upgraded from a 2003 Ford Taurus, so getting this car was a huge upgrade. I love that it’s smaller but feels huge on the inside, I got the value edition so it has heated seats which work AMAZING. I like the adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. However, I do feel like sometimes the wheel slightly pulls when I get to close to the other lane, which I don’t like but everything else is amazing! I got this car in bright red and it surprisingly looks really nice, this car has everything you could possibly need!

Really Good Value For The Price.

The last Hyundai I owned was a 2006 Santa Fe, the old style one with the bulging fenders, Hyundai quality has certainly gone up. I owned that Santa Fe for over 10 years and 129,000 miles, and I admittedly did not really take good care of it, put gas in it, changed the oil, usually well over the recommended 7,500 mile interval. My total out of pocket cost for repairs other than routine maintenance and tires was $257.00 and that was being a neglectful owner. I wanted a car this time not an SUV, and I have been doing a lot of traveling across state back and forth so I wanted something with good gas mileage but inexpensive and had good safety ratings. I have been reading reviews on the Elantra over the past 10 months or so since it was first introduced in 2016. Looked at the safety ratings on IIHS in the US and at Europe's safety testing. Test drove the Elantra , Corolla, Civic and Mazda 3. I really do not like the styling of the Toyota at all, The Civic was nice but no value for the amount of money they charge and didn't really care for the low roof line look. I liked the Mazda 3 but I was looking more for a comfortable driving car rather than a sporty car, and equipped the same the Mazda was still $1,000 more. The Elantra Value Edition, with the Hyundai incentives, pretty much put me in a well equipped, good looking, smooth riding car that gets pretty decent gas mileage and has good crash test results for the price of a used compact car. The car is pretty nice looking, the color Phantom Black, is actually like a black metallic with the windows tinted in the right shade (more black looking than gray, but not overly dark) it looks sweet. I'm averaging 37 mpg. and it's fast enough for me. I have not experienced any of this lag time I've read about on here from a couple of other people, I hit the gas the car goes. I can not say that for a Chevy Cruze I rented while out of town, the Turbo lag on that car was terrible.
