2026 Honda CR-V Consumer Reviews

Just a little bit better
In December my 2024 CRV Sport Hybrid Touring was totaled with just under 10,000 miles on it. I replaced it with an identical 2025 model. The reason I did that is because I loved the first one with one exception. The horn. The first time I used it I thought it sounded exactly like a bicycle horn. Fortunately that has been changed in the 2025 edition. It is so comfortable and easy to drive. I have no trouble making a weekly trip to Costco and H‑E‑B for seven people including three teenagers. I am able to get multiple cases of water, large snack boxes and all kinds of other bulky groceries in the back. I also like the exterior styling. It is so much better looking than previous generations of CRVs. The 19 inch wheels help with the overall appearance. I kept track of my mileage on both cars. The worst was around 30 the best 37 with the average around 33. The worst was high speed driving with a 75 mile per hour limit with 80 the norm. It gets its best mileage 30 to 55 mph. This is the best car I have ever owned. I am no kid and I have owned a lot of cars and trucks. If your looking for a not so small, small SUV take a long hard look at this one.

Don't Buy A 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid
Just bought a 2025 CR-V Hybrid Sport L at the very end of this past August (based upon a Car & Driver review). Car literally has just over 2K miles on it and now I'm seeing not 1 but 2 recall notices for the high pressure fuel pump and gearbox issues. NICE!!! The language in the high pressure fuel pump recall notice is particularly irritating "bring it in for a free inspection and, if necessary, replacement of the high-pressure fuel pump if the inspection indicates the presence of a defective part". What, like your local Honda Dealer's Service Dept. has the time, or skill, to thoroughly inspect your fuel pump (while paying customers wait). And btw, who's to say that the part won't fail after they deem it okay, say for example when your 100s of miles away from home. This is a very serious issue that could result in the car catching fire. Also, if the gearbox issue isn't addressed properly based upon the recall the steering could become unmanageable - imagine what that might lead to driving down the interstate at 70+. I'm going to see what I can do about this legally. I have opened a case w/Honda Customer Care to see if they'll buy this POS back. If you're in my situation I'd recommend you do the same! P.S. If you do take your car into to have them "inspect" the fuel pump I'd be inclined to demand that they replace it with a part they know does not have the defect. That said, if you're willing to just live with the inspection and they tell you that your part is okay make sure you get their assessment in writing. These dealerships change service managers and techs like most people change socks.

Love the 2025 CR-V
Rides like a dream. Nice size. Great mileage. Quiet drive. Love it!
Best Car Ever!
This is my fourth CR-V and it is the best car ever. I told my husband if you put me in a car that cost three times as much, there is no way I would like it better. This car is beautiful inside and out, and it's fun.

Below Estimate MPG and Underpowered Engine
I'll share my initial observations after only a few months of ownership. Biggest heads up I want to share is the MPG. I took readings in various conditions: Eco Mode: Gentle Driving 29.5 mpg estimate (per my car dash) 28.19 mpg actual (miles driven divided by gallons) Regular Mode: Normal Driving 26.9 mpg estimate 24.83 mpg actual Eco Mode: Normal Driving *Same as regular mode Normal Mode: Carrying Gear (kayak and other heavy gear) 21.4 mpg estimate 19.21 mpg actual All of these mileage were mixed highway and city. Not only was it significantly lower than estimates for this car, but the dash reported mpg was also significantly overestimating the mpg. Just be aware of this when purchasing the car. The engine, even on normal mode, is slow and lumbering. And it sounds like it is struggling to get up to speed. The interior is nice and the ride is very comfortable for me at 5'11". I love the interior space and storage. This is my first Honda, so I'm still adjusting to some of the features. The climate control is confusing to me. I try to put it on cool fan and it's still hot unless I put the a/c on, then it gets very cold unless you turn the temperature wayyyy up. Just weird. Also the safety features and a little scary. It flashes "Brake" warning when there is no issue, like if you are changing lanes to go around a vehicle or if a car is turning and you are timing it to go right by as they turn. Also, one time it completely locked the brakes because it thought I wasn't braking fast enough, but in reality the cars in front of me were starting to go after the light turned red. I had to let the car come to a complete stop and then it allowed me to accelerate, but it completely disrupted the flow of traffic. If this saves me from an accident even once, it will be worth it, but it was still scary and unnecessary. Despite these concerns, I still love driving this car in all conditions and I'm counting on the Honda reliability and resale to make it worth the investment.

Quality
The 2025 CR-V was the 5th Honda I had purchased. I’ve driven several generations of the accord, I owned a civic and my husband currently owns a pilot. To say I’m not familiar with the brand would be an understatement. The stylish exterior of the latest generation of the CR- V is what really drew me to the vehicle. After owning the car for 3 months, I traded it in because I did not care for it at all. I found the interior extremely cheap compared to previous Hondas. The plastic interior feels very cheap, if you press on the plastic, it creaks. The wireless “charging” will keep your phone from dying but it won’t charge your phone. The dual climate control doesn’t get very hot and if you have it going towards your body and feet at the same time, barely any heat comes out of the body vents. After doing research on this, it was discovered that this was a design flaw on Hondas part. The seat belt adapter is very stiff and doesn’t move around very much so if you have a wider hip, you may find this a bit uncomfortable. The seats themselves take some adjustment to get even somewhat comfortable. The ride was smooth but I did not like how the vehicle maneuvered around corners. Overall I see this as a major let down for the Honda brand as I typically hold them to a high hurt standard. I traded the CR-V in for a 10th generation accord which I owned previously.

2025 is my last Honda (I’ve happily owned 12)
This year Honda went cheap, so you might as well buy a KIA. -1 Turbo fed motor remains questionable, get same mileage as earlier trustworthy non-turbo 4-cylinder. -Wanders on Highway, this way, that. Aligned three times, two by dealer, once by specialist shop. Still does it at 20,000 miles. -Highly lauded entertainment device is a cheap screen linked to your telephone. GOOGLE GPS via internet that goes blank when the internet connection is lost, so carry printed maps because this is a common experience. Also, it just arbitrarily quits, which, to reactivate, requires stopping car to relink your phone. Frankly, I see it as a dangerous device that’s distraction requirements could cause accidents. -No effective downshift for steep hills although it does have a slowing device button that is said to reduce runaway risk. I’ve used it twice. It makes weird cranking sounds. -Headlights are great for driving to Walmart; scary on dark mountain roads, real scary in the rain. -Front seats, fashioned after race car chairs, are exceptionally uncomfortable on long drives. Oddly, they’re narrow with inch-high risers on each seat-side, supposedly to hold you in place during Mach-2 turns but, instead, on highway drives these risers press against your outer thigh and cause pain. - Way too much technology — no glovebox space due to under-dash gimmecktry; have no idea of the packed under-hood realm. Good news? It’s pretty.

Smoooooth ride.
First time owning a hybrid. Hard to get use to moving in silence but boy is it a smooth ride. Comfortable all around and already appreciating the great gas mileage. Can't think of anything bad to say so far. Drive one for yourself and see.
