Used 2019 Honda Accord Hybrid Consumer Reviews
Hybrid mileage misconceptions
My wife and I drove the Accord Hybrid and think it is a much better value than the Toyota Camry Hybrid which charges extra for every little thing! We have not made a purchase yet but with the Accord and Sonata being about the same price it will be a difficult decision. I have noticed a number of people complaining about the mileage and wanted to say a couple of things based on having owned 4 hybrids thus far... 1. Mileage is much more sensitive to drivers input on hybrids than on non-hybrid. If you want the best mileage work on improving your driving habits. 2. You will reach your "peak" mileage around 5,000 to 10,000 miles. 3. As someone who got a mileage rebate on the first Sonata hybrid, suing is not the answer!

Great value for the money.
Pros: -Quiet ride if throttle is not pushed with a heavy foot. -Cost savings with gas vs. gas model if driven under optimal conditions. -Great cargo space and best in class with cargo space. -Roomy interior. -Different trims to go with. Cons: -Some trims hardly provide any value. I would say skip the EX model and go Touring or EX-L if you want a higher end trim. -Noisy cabin when throttle is engaged. -Front end of car is very long so it is hard to gauge how close you are to things in front of you. -Only Touring trim provides built-in Navigation and Parking Sensors--and a few other things but they aren't as important in my opinion. -Gas mileage can seem inconsistent. -Chrome. I think chrome is tacky in general so just an opinion. -Braking distance can be hard to gauge. You have to really stop far. Use paddle shifters to help downshift quickly though. -UGLY tail lights. If I wanted crab claws on my car, I'll go to a seafood restaurant and take the food to go and then glue the crab claws myself to the back. Hideous. The secret to driving this vehicle is to let your brakes regenerate. Use the paddle shifters to down shift your vehicle during stops. This charges the battery. Then while driving, use EV mode as much as possible. I have, from time to time, gotten as much as 54mpg to the gallon being mindful of my driving habits during 2-15 mile trips. Also, most people probably don't properly break-in their engines and that could be why their gas mileage is poor. Break-in period for this vehicle is 600 miles. Don't beat on the engine and it will last and perform properly and optimally. Personally, I think I should have went with the Touring trim because of the Parking Sensors. However, I enjoy my ride now and I can't complain too much in terms of its performance and design.

When did Honda stop caring?
I purchased a 2019 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring exactly one month ago. It seemed like a nice car at the time. The 3rd day is when I noticed a squeak in the dash. It was constant. It sounded like it was coming from around the HUD. I took the car back one week later for other repairs from when I purchased it - two scratches on the vehicle and one dent - and also the squeak. The paintwork on the scratches and the dent look fine, but there was overspray on the front driver's side air dam. Also, the squeak persisted the moment I took it off the lot. It only grew worse - I thought maybe it was just me. Other passengers riding with me asked what it was. I took it back, and this time a different dealer told me my dash is warped. The resulting "Fix" left the top of my dash looking like it had been carved up and put back together with foam, but the squeak was fixed. For one day. It's back. I am exasperated, and I feel like this car is not only a humongous mistake, but it's caused nothing but stress and anxiety since I bought it. I just want it to go away. I've been in touch with the Honda of the Desert where I purchased. They won't take the car back. They say they are appalled by what happened at their service department. American Honda has said they won't "get in the middle". I am still trying to get a resolution from them, but nothing to date that is satisfactory. One American Honda rep said, "So what do you want me to do about it?" Bottom line, I would not recommend this car at all. What I once saw a company with value that treated its customers fairly appears to have become a giant corporate bureaucracy. UPDATE: After 3.5 months of ownership, I sold the car after attempting to have the failing navigation replaced. The navigation/infotainment electronics on this car crashed multiple times on a daily basis. The appointment was arranged through the service manager. I was told that everything was ready when I dropped the car for service on a Friday, and it would be ready by the next day. The next day comes, and I hear nothing from the Honda dealership - Honda of the Desert. Finally, I call the dealer at 4 pm. At THAT time, the service rep told me that Honda did not approve the repair. They never called to tell me this, and this was completely inconsistent with what the service manager told me before bringing the car in, as well as the service rep at the dealer when dropping it off. The quality of the vehicle overall was questionable at best. The stereo was a complete joke. The material on the dash rubbed against the HUD trim, making a squeaking sound that sounded like styrofoam rubbing. After three attempts to fix, it was finally resolved when I found a service bulletin Honda released that neither Honda of the Desert, nor Honda of Hollywood knew existed. The electronics with the lane keep and adaptive cruise were wonky and not smooth in operation. It would slam on the brakes when a clear road was ahead randomly. It would also accelerate very hard when a car moved from my lane only to slam the brakes on as it approached more traffic. The car had been with the dealer 6 times over 3.5 months of ownership. I have a full-time job and a life. I do not have time to be dealing with a brand new car that is clearly a lemon. It was obvious that Honda was more interested in putting up barriers than resolving warranty issues on a brand new car. AND, Honda of America said I needed to take the car to the dealership of origin for service issues. That was when I could get them to respond. Responses took a week at best. The whole situation was unacceptable. Between the multiple unresolved issues that should have been resolved without question, and most frustrating, Honda's resistance to resolve issues, I decided to sell the car. It was the best decision I made since purchasing it. I will NEVER buy another Honda. I will make certain I tell anyone interested in purchasing a Honda to look at other brands. This was the 4th Honda I have owned over the years. I researched the vehicle. I also felt Honda's reputation was good. My decision to purchase a Honda Accord Hybrid was guided by that reputation, my research, and previous ownership experiences. I couldn't have been more wrong. I've never had a more disappointing car ownership and service experience. Honda has been completely successful at failing to deliver a quality product.

Nice sedan with great MPG
I live in Atlanta Metro and drive 80+ miles everyday. I've seen a lot of folks say they aren't getting the 48/48/48 that's advertised. I'm not sure how they are driving or the environment in which they do but I'm here to tell you that 48 mpg is not only realistic, it happens for me every single day. A few caveats. Don't excessively speed and I don't floor it at take off. I keep the vehicle at 73 or under on the interstate and ramp up my speed off the line and therefore have not issues getting this MPG. In fact on short trips to the store I'm getting 54-55 on average. For city stop and go driving this vehicle meets expectations. Interior is clean, simple, and to the point. Infotainment system operated smooth and without hiccup. I enjoy the benefits of the lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and blind spot monitoring.

Buy almost great car; not for the mileage
This car is very attractive, rides well, everything operates as expected. The only disappointment is the gas mileage. I have read many reviews and "real world" mileage is 37 to 42. The few who claim 48 to 50 are either fanatics at coasting etc. or not accurate. I do everything I can think of and continually watch YouTube and the internet and try the different types of driving, and can't get over 42 but mostly 37-39. I wish they would promote the car on it overall engineering because it is excellent, but not pretend that you are going to get 48 mpg. ALSO, the sensors in the front only warn you of corner bumper objects, not objects in the middle. In other words, if there is a post or similar object in the middle of the front of the car then there is NO warning and you are going to damage the front of the car. The rear backup warning system is excellent in the width of its spread and warning and that leads you to expect the same for the front, but that is not correct. The passenger seat only goes forward and back, not up or down. This means the passenger is usually lower than the driver. Both seat adjustments should be equal. I think the later year may? Have changed that. Also, the outside mirrors do not adjust with the driver. So the steering wheel and seats adjust, but then you have to sit there and do the outside and rear mirrors. You can open all windows with the remote as you approach the car, you can’t close them that way; why? I have the most expensive Accord, and its a slight disappointment in small ways.
