Used 2017 GMC Terrain Consumer Reviews
GMC engines blow up
I loved my GMC Terrain until the engine blew up out of nowhere despite regular maintenance and very low kms. I tried contacting GM Canada as well as the dealership I purchased the vehicle from. They confirmed they are aware of this being a common problem with their engines and have not issued any sort of recall. Two other local mechanic shops also advised me of their defective history and advised me a new engine will likely result in the same issue. The cost of an engine replacement for this vehicle is essentially the value of the vehicle. Despite knowing it's an issue they refuse to rectify the situation. Do not waste your money with this company; they do not care if they are screwing over their customers.

So far, so great
I've had my GMC, which I purchased new, almost 8 years this December. It's been an absolutely awesome car for me in terms of comfort and reliability, as well as the affordability of the price I purchased it for. I haven't had one single problem in the last almost 8 years. Certainly, that will eventually change, but I could not be happier that it's given me zero problems in 8 whole years. It's also SO roomy and very, very comfortable, even for plus sized or tall individuals.

Comfy and quiet ride, but oil issues.
We have owned Terrain for 2 years, bought with 27,000 miles on it 80,??? miles now. Very quiet and comfy ride, don't like the confusing control panel too many distracting buttons. Christmas day driving home from relatives noticed an engine noise. Pulled over and checked the oil, none on dipstick although we had oil changed 3 days prior. Oil dripping into puddle underneath car. Had car towed to dealership next day and had to have engine main seal and pcv valve replaced. DEALER SAID THIS IS A FREQUENT PROBLEM with these vehicles. They said the pcv valve was carboned up and in colder weather they can freeze causing excessive pressure to build up in engine and blowing the seal. Also the 4 cylinder is very under powered.

Great suv
Bad news engine light went on not even 5 minutes later while driving suv engine running completely stopped as I acelorated from 5 to 10 mph. Couldn’t go in drive or reverse. Got stopped in the middle of the road. Used my on star to call for help. They sent racine sheriff to block traffic so I didn’t get hit. On top of the GM suppostly fixed this problem a year ago it did the same thing. They need to put a brand new transmission in not just keep replacing part by part. There is major issues.
Great little SUB
