A Disgrace

This is a diesel, always garaged w/69K miles. Also washed routinely including winter, superior maintainence. The list of repairs goes on forever: computer reflashes, glow plugs, fuel injectors, throttle body, steering column, all parts of the diesel exhaust system. It needs a new air conditioning compressor, and now the ultimate insult - rust above both rear wheel wells. Body panel rust problems went out in 1977 when manufacturers went to galvinized body panels. GM is so incompetent they don't put decent rust proofing on their trucks (serious rust also under the hood on the hood latch). Big mistake buying this truck, poorly engineered,QC and manufacturing below par. Tells you what GM thinks of its customers

Best truck I have seen, tested all

I use to own a 2008 Dodge ram 1500 5.7 hemi, and put 40,000 miles on it in less than 2 years. Fairly happy with that truck, and I have not encounter not even one single issue. Looking for more power, and better style, more options/better comfort/better quality, so I've tested all of them out there. The only one which satisfied my demands was the gms based on manufacture options that was installed like on board info system, back-up camera and sensors, on star system, teptronic 6 speed, auto-lights, shift turn-signal on the mirrors and more cabin space. So far after 9 months I'm very very satisfied with the quality and performance. I highly recommend to anyone this brand name gmc.

Have my new 2500HD 4W for a month now and very pleased. Overall truck is superb and beats the heck out of my older Dodge. Pulls my boat like it's not there. Ride is good and mileage is running avg of 17 mpg. I got the split buckets with console and love it. Ditto the comment that tires could be a bit larger. Really very happy with the purchase.

I am a Diesel guy!!

If you are looking for a tough, dependable truck with a long life expectancy, this is what you are looking for.......... Let's start with the only negative. This truck is a two wheel drive and it does create some issues. If you hookup a trailer, you can get stuck on level ground in the grass, if it is wet. I am running high quality street tires, and they are great tires, but the low end torque is so good that it is difficult to get it moving on a wet, non-paved surface. Once it is moving, you are good. I am running a Bully Dog BDX programmer. It doesn't provide as much HP as my Triple Dog in my 2004 truck, but it still has plenty of get up and go. I have triple gauges on my pillow. With the BDX, I run a consent 5 psi of boost at cruising speeds, but when you need to go, it drops a gear and JUMPS to 30 to 35 psi. It's NOT an "out of the hole" dragster, but it will perform when you need it too. SLT package means all the creature comforts, and they are accommodating. They ride is firm to say the least, and it can be rough depending on the condition of the road. I have a rear air brag suspension (after-market), and it's probably time for new shocks. And there is the typical GM issues, cracks in the dash from the sun, etc. I am averaging 18mpg with the BDX chip. I can get that up to around 24mpg for just highway driving. I have added an auxillary full tank in the bed of the truck that let's me go about 1200 miles between fill ups, which is about 71 gallons of fuel between both tanks. And finally safety. I am weighing in around 7300lbs, which puts me at double the weight of most vehicles on the road today. Law of physics are on my side with regards to accidents.
