Used 2021 Ford Transit Connect Consumer Reviews
Maximum impact for minimum outlay
This is my 5th van and my Best Van! Luv this new technology and comfort. Easy to work out of and fits in the garage. 👍 However, I do transmission drain and fills (3 x each) every 10,000 miles hoping to avoid any problems with the 6F35 Trans. I’m at 122,000 miles now with no issues. Enjoying this vehicle. 👍
Basic Functionality
I do a lot of bicycle rides and races in places that are too far away to be a one-day commute. I have to carry bicycle tools and spare parts. Rather than carry my bicycle up to my hotel room every night, I can leave it locked inside my Transit Connect. I have the passenger van but really wanted a utility van. Unfortunately, this is all that was available in December , 2020. Pros: (1) It is small enough to fit in my garage, (2) I get 28 mpg for my combined driving, (3) I can carry 2 bicycles, spare parts, weekend luggage, and one other person. Cons: (1) it's not particularly fun to drive, (2) it does not include a spare tire or jack, (3) poor dealership customer service.

Only fair
Overall this vehicle has been only fair. The fuel economy sucks to say the least.

Budget car at best
Very low power ratio if fully loaded don’t expect more than 55mph on any up hill grade. Feels very bare bones, even with seats feels like the handyman’s van. Suspension not great- don’t even think about pushing around any curves as won’t hold a line without jerking. Kids were scared due to low set oversized windows feels like if collision they would end up in your lap. Ford missed the boat on this one. Slide doors are awkward and difficult to use - will hurt you when closing if not carefull. Rear wipers blasted off in car wash. Six seat, back row weird - very, very little cargo space when seats set up. Missing safety features most cars have - no blindside warning system.
Faulty Technology and Sluggish Performance
I've had my 2020 Ford Transit Connect for about 18 months now. Overall, it has performed fairly well. It is certainly under-powered and the transmission has the typical Ford sluggish shifting. My main concern with this vehicle is the abundance of technology that has been very problematic. I recently had a blowout to my front right tire, and it practically destroyed the front end of the vehicle, which affected the lane sensor cable, steering assist and pre-collision system. It just went to the shop again this week for a wiring short in the mapping system (whatever that is) and thought the engine was going to crumble. I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle, and would not recommend.
