Used 2021 Ford Transit Connect Consumer Reviews
Lucy
Gets great gas mileage, 20 around town, 28 on highway. Lots of sitting & cargo space. Lots of headroom. Peppy, even though a 4-cylinder.

Great little wheel chair hauler
My wife has Parkinson’s. We have a custom manual wheel chair for her. The low deck and roomy back (I removed the rear seats) are perfect for the chair, and for getting her in and out. The 4ft ceiling height is perfect for her chair with its head gear. The liftgate works like an awning to keep the rain off when loading and unloading. We live in the mountains of NC and it easily handles the hills and curves. It’s like a little sports car in a big box.

For demanding driver, + big & little riders.
The five-star rating isn't because it's perfect: it's because we love it. A lot of thought went into our purchase. When we first started shopping, my elderly mother was still alive, and even though she was not tall, it was hard for her to get in and out of cars, since her stability and flexibility were both physically compromised. In the front row at least, this car has the valuable combination of a high roof and a low floor, making it particularly easy to get into the seats. At the same time, we had (and still have) some children who are unusually tall for their ages, and wanted something that they could ride in, even once they reach their full heights. Also, it had caught my eye that a few years before, the last time Consumer Reports tested it, its slalom time was far better than that of any other minivan. It might be considered odd to be looking for a minivan with an excellent slalom time, but, though nobody's looking to enter a minivan in a slalom, I can be a particularly demanding driver, and my wife, a violinist, appreciates sensitive response in a a steering wheel. The sum total of the above is that it can fit a wide variety of persons, and satisfy particularly demanding drivers. Imperfections? I don't think the paint quality is particularly good. In any car, black paint is more prone to scratches than other colors are, but I say this one is even more prone than other black cars. A different color paint would have been better, but I expect that even then excessive scratching would be a risk. I saw that certain years of this car had poor reliability (that is, 2014, 2015, 2016) but I also knew that Ford models tended to improve greatly in reliability over the course of the model cycle, and sure enough since this 2020 model was 6 years past the most recent major redesign, and a year passed the most recent minor redesign, there'd be a good chance that the reliability bugs would have been worked out, and that's been the case for us: zero problems except for the paint matter noted above. We test drove versions with all three kinds of seats: leather, cloth, and vinyl, we determined that the leather was worth the cost. I've read that after 2021, they'll be switching the manufacturing from one country to another, and whenever there's an all new assembly operation, there's a chance of screw-ups when a whole new set of people start building the same thing, regardless of where it's moving from and where it's moving to. All the above would tend to mean that 2020 and 2021 would be the optimal years. We enjoy the driving experience very much, and feel good about the fact that it can accommodate friends and family of all ages and sizes. (2022 Update: all of the above unchanged in 2022)
