Corporate Indifference

We have been disappointed in the reliability of our truck. Our truck has 12,000 miles and has been in three dealerships due to major engine failures. The first was an out-of-place snap ring in a fuel injector, the second was foreign material that destroyed the oil pump gears, and the third is a major oil leak in the oil pump area. We have been surprised that two of the dealerships only had one diesel mechanic. We have been very upset that delivery of parts takes so long from Ford. We were stranded in another state and it took three days to get an oil pump for our truck. The 1-800 Ford hot line is a joke because you get no feedback or contacts. Once you buy a Ford truck all corporate contact disappears.

Ford F 250 Crew Cab Diesel

I purchased this F 250 Diesel in early December of 2004. I had read of the changes for 2005 a couple of years ago and decided to wait for the 2005 model. I am glad I did. Ford made significant improvements over 2004. The ride is significantly improved thanks to the coil springs up front rather than the old leaf springs. Even for a diesel this vehicle is very quiet inside with no rattles. The drivetrain is excellent with very smooth shifts. The 5 speed Torq Shift transmission is highly recommended. I find the seats to be comfortable and the rear seat is much more roomy than my second choice, the Dodge Ram Crew. The transmission and ride in the F 250 are better than the Dodge as well.

I can say, first off, that I am satisfied with my truck for the most part. However, there are a lot of expensive parts, mainly the transmission, which sells new for around $7,000. I drove this truck for a little over a year and didn't have any trouble with it at all and when I finally did - it has been a huge ordeal since. The problem is that there doesn't seem to be anyone that has any knowledge of that style tranny. The main problem is that there are way too many electronic components, which makes it impossible for me to even work on without fear of making a small problem a huge catastrophe. Whatever happened to simplicity?

I had a 2005 F-250 4x4 diesel that was towed out of my garage 7 weeks after buying it for electrical issues. By the beginning of 2009 it had been towed a total of about 7 times to the dealer for not starting, once was right after Ford put THEIR own batteries in it, thinking that would "fix" the issue since they believe it was the Walmart batteries that were killing the engine (even though it didn't come off the lot with Walmart batteries).

I bought this truck cause my 84 was so tough. This one is junk. Front end speed wobbles if you hit a bump at highway speeds dealer has tried to fix "NOT". 5 power steering pumps and one gearbox. Yes it will lock up on you. If you drive a lot of dirt roads the Evap sys will suck dirt in and dispose of it in your gas tank "Yippi' Clogging fuel filters. Why cause the inlet is by the back wheels and the dirt causes the sylinoid to stick open. That is the check gas cap you keep seeing. Hyper sensitive electric gas pedal make this truck hard to drive slow. Side window scratch just from rolling them up and down. Don't put anything in the bed cause it will dent. Plows great though.
