Used 2004 Ford Explorer Consumer Reviews
Purchased Used
I purchased this, Ford certified, truck with just 15k miles. V8 has decent power but not overwhelming. I like the V8 in the newer (06) Explorers, however the ridiculous interior door release & handles prohibited me from buying the newer model. Good room, quiet & smooth ride. Some ergonomic quirks though. 2nd and 3rd row seats don't fold flat, interior door release take time getting used to. Build quality is about average.
A Great SUV
Unlike those car-based SUVs that are nothing more than glorified station wagons the Explorer combines real truck capabilities (such as off-road and towing) with luxury sedan comforts.

Third one
This is my third Explorer and they just keep getting better! The Advancetrac system is wonderful in the snow, and the reverse sensing system help me from running over my sons friends bike that he left directly behind my car. I have not had any problems with it, no have I had problems with my past ones. Power from the V8 is great, and tows our 3500lb trailer with ease. The interior is every nice, and squeak free.
Good choice
So far has been a good buy, very happy with this SUV.
Smart Choice
After test driving several Japanese and even German SUV's, I bought my Explorer and never looked back. The styling is beautiful, the ride exceptional and the quality better than I could have hoped for on any SUV. I would, and have, recommend this vehicle to anyone wanting a SUV.
