Used 2000 Ford Explorer Consumer Reviews
I love the beast-ness of it!
I love my Ford Explorer and the V8 engine! I'm capable of going shopping, grocery shopping, moving, or whatever in it without worrying about not having enough room! I'm able to travel in snow well without any problems, maybe with ice but who doesn't?! The 4WD is AWESOME! I would love to get the newer Explorer, why wouldn't I love it? The only thing I hate is the minor problems with it...the rear window wiper blade doesn't wipe-it wipes maybe 3 inches of what it should, the gas of course, and just minor things, which have been worked out. It's built to be awesome and have that "I'm a bad ass" feel to it. I wouldn't trade it in for anything less- even though gas prices are tempting me :[

Never Buy a 2 Door SUV
I purchased my Explorer Sport new and found that it did not handle well on wet roads and curves. Besides a hefty transmission repair bill, I have had issues with the ABS system, air bag indicator light, and keyless remote system. Before I purchase my next vehicle I will review any Technical Service Bulletins and Recall notices on the National Highway Safety website as I saw a number of issues listed for the Explorer that I am experiencing.
I love it!
This is by far the best vehicle I've had. It looks great, it's the perfect size, and it's really great on gas! If you're looking for a small SUV I would highly recommend this one!
A reliable vehicle that saved my life
I got this car in college and used it to drive back and forth to ski races around the northeast. It handled amazingly well on snow, plowed effortlessly through deep snow, and also performed well on the highway. My only gripe at all is the low gas mileage, but that's due to the V8 engine. My main feedback about this vehicle is related to safety. I recently totaled this vehicle in a crash. I skid out of control on a gravel road (went around a curve too fast), launched off an embankment and rolled 7 times. My friend and I walked away with little more than bruises. Anyone who has ever seen photos of the crash is amazed--this vehicle held up like a tank!
