4X4 Escape

Very nice functional vehicle. I use it for work everyday; it is very dependable and you hardly notice the transfer from electric to gas while in motion. I get a lot of looks and questions which are also fun to field. May people want to see under the hood. When the truck shuts down in traffic and runs on electric only - took a little getting used too.

Got rid of my tank (Chevy Avalanche) and purchased the Escape with 0% financing by Ford Motor Credit in CA ... what a deal! Finished off the first tank of gas at 32.4 mpg and I'm sure it will only get better since I know how to drive it now to get the best mileage. I recommend putting a little distance between you and the car in front of you so you can coast start the car at lights. This will allow you to take advantage of the electric power for a greater amount of time.

Ford Escape Hybrid

Car is a little less than advertised. Mileage is only in the 29-30 range. Comfort is the same as Mustang in the earliest years; I owned one. Quality is the same. As the car ages in months, the windows sag, the dealer will not return calls for repairs even within the warranty period. Compared to Toyota, U.S. needs help.

Who wouldn't buy this

Getting just under 36 mpg average so far. I can't believe that a car this ample gets better mileage than my Chevy Prism (a.k.a. Toyota Corolla). I actually feel sorry for most car owners when I look around parking lots. One nice trick that I have learned is riding the brakes a little when descending a hill. Keeping the car under 40mph will keep the IC off and you're charging up the battery at the same time. With the federal tax credits and PA state rebate, the car doesn't cost any more than a regular Escape. I was able to get the supplier X discount, which was about invoice for the car. It's better, it's cheaper to own and it costs the same as a regular Escape. Who wouldn't buy this?
