Reliable truck
Handles everything I throw at it. Pretty good on gas if I keep it light on the accelerator and in the bed. Handles loads well and towes great. I tow a two horse trailer (about 7,000lb) on a gooseneck and it handels well. A little noisy on hills, and pretty thirsty (11 mpg) (its the v8 version too, it wasn’t an option in the model selection). But gets the job done. Seats are comfortable, for a work truck. Vinal footwells are the best.

Chevy Silverado
I haven't had any major issues so far. I have had the truck for 2 years. Something that does concern me is when the truck is idle it does have a shake to it. I never notice while driving it though. I took it to one dealership but was told it was how the truck was supposed to be. I plan to go to others because I don't agree. . Also, as with everyone else the recalls are rideclous.

My 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT Experience
For the step up from work truck to LT, this truck is everything the normal truck owner would need. I was very happy for the 4.5 years I owned this vehicle and never will waver from buying Chevy again.

The get up pickup.
I didnt like the pickup with the 5.3 v8. I picked the 6.2 which was a big improvement. Should have gone with the stiffer ride from the Z-71 package. The 10 speed transmission is a much smoother shifting than the 6 speed in this model. Love the glossy black 22 inch rims as an option.

2014 Silverado transmission issue
I got a used truck from a Chevy dealership and it was the worst thing you can possible do. I bought an extended warranty and had a couple miles left on the manufacturer warranty when I got the truck. Now I know the transmission fluid had never been changed from the time that the dealership sold the truck to the original owner. Also it was never changed when they got it back. Anyhow the transmission is in bad shape. I have been told by the dealer that the transmissions usually fall apart around 120,000 miles. I expressed to them that I would not have choose this truck if I new that was the case. I bought the truck at 89,000 miles. Not only is this a major financial disaster for me. I cannot get much for the vehicle in this condition. I would not recommend this vehicle for my worst enemy beware and avoid this head ache.

The transmission in these truck are terrible
For the most part I love my truck. The ride is excellent, smooth and makes you watch the speed, that's how good the ride is. The 5.3 is not bad, other than that you have to watch your oil level. Was told it's normal to burn a quart in a 1000 miles after a change, ridiculous. The transmission (6l80) is garbage, and GM knows, research the issues and there's a class action lawsuit on the 8 speed transmission. Should be one on the 6l80 too. You will need to upgrade the headlights and fog lights to LED bulbs. I'm a die heart Chevrolet guy, never owned anything else

Truck shuts off, stabilitrak lights comes on often
I bought the truck used but I never thought I would have so many problems. I got the truck with 75,000 miles and I’m at 91,000 right now. I’ve had to replace the lower and upper control ball joints due to normal wear and tear which is fine. But what I hate is that the truck has shut off on me several times when making a turn or just simply going straight. The steering wheel locks up and there’s nothing you can do but besides to wait until the truck turns on again. Also, the trucks stabilitrak light will come on at random times and the truck will start to jerk back and forth, lights will start to flicker inside. This has almost made me get into an accident which is very frustrating. Lastly, I’ve taken the truck to the dealer 3 times and they cannot find a valid reason for which my truck keeps doing this which is ridiculous!! They keep telling me that everything checks out fine when running diagnostics and they can’t find the problem? Chevy trucks look nice but I would honestly recommend looking at another brand. It’s not worth the time or money. I will be trading the truck in soon. I am not going to put the safety of my family at risk over this stupid truck.

Nothing but problems
I purchased my 2014 Silverado and have the vibration everyone is talking about and I had this truck dealer serviced figuring it would last for quite a few years but after tons of recalls later I found out it to be a money pit. I have 12300 miles on the truck and let me remind you that I went by GM recommended service from day one so, it hit 123000 miles and wound uo having a stuck lifter and the a/c went out pretty much at the same time and cost me over 5000.00 to repair it and still having issues with the truck lagging. Giant disappointment and will take the loss and get rid of it to buy a non GM truck. I have had GM trucks for the last 30 years and from what I learned they are not as they used to be and for the money spent on one I think a person should get many many more miles out of them before costly repairs.
So much for reliable Chevy
Bought this truck used, had it a year before the tranny fluid starting overheating. Replaced the transmission at 66,000 miles only for it to never run decent again. Hard shifts down and sluggish shifts up. Ramping RPM's always. 8 months after the first replacement the new tranny was bad with metal in the fluid. I'm taking a huge loss trading this pile in. I reccomend passing on this truck, maybe run not walk away.

Worst vehicle I ever owned!
Please do extensive research on any GM vehicle you plan to buy. You will most likely change your mind about buying any of their vehicle. I own (unfortunately ) 2014 Silverado 1500 high country 4x4 with 125k miles, good looking (money hole) truck, currently in the shop for $5,000 transmission repair. This is just one of dozen major repairs I had done on this vehicle which include multiple costly a/c repairs (condenser and compresor), multiple costly suspension problems, multiple break failures including vacuum pump, exhaust replacement, steering rack replacement, rear shock absorbers, starter, alternator, engine lifters, leaking roof due to sat. antenna seal and loose sunroof gasket. I'm sure I've missed one or two. Most of these repairs were not covered under warranty. I will never buy another GM vehicle. I hope for your safety you don't either. Just look up all the lawsuits they are having against them.

Some issues
I’ve had a 2014 Chevy Silverado LTZ for about two years now. During the time that I’ve owned it, I had a more issues with it than I’ve had with prior vehicles. The first issue that I encountered was a rattling in the dash that I still have not been able to fix. I took apart the entire dash and found many loose screws that contributed to the rattle that I heard, however, even after tightening all of the loose screws I found, there was still a rattle. It became a nuisance when I started having people in my car ask me what the rattle was. The second issue that I had was the condenser go out on me... twice...within 30K miles of each other. There is a well documented history of the condensers going out in these year Silverado’s, just look up multiple forums online with many other owners who have experienced the same issue. Thankfully I don’t live in a state where it is warm most of the year so I am able to get by during the winter, however, I can see how this issue can be be a serious hazard to those living in warmer conditions all year round. This was my first Chevy/GM product and it will more than likely be my last until some of these quality control issues can be addressed.

IT'S BEEN A GREAT TRUCK
I bought it new in sept. of 2014 and now have 59000 miles on it. I've had no problems. Just gas and oil and go. I will buy another chevy when it's time. Mine is the lt 4x4 double cab
NOT RELIABLE!
The RECALLS! They are debilitating, meaning your truck shuts down in the middle of traffic! Just happened AGAIN today and the "recall" has been closed even though it has the exact same symptoms. They said the recall part only covered for 2-3 years?! Seriously? AVOID THIS TRUCK!

Lemon from the start
If you want to have difficulty steering the vehicle at slow speeds because of the electric power steering. If you would like to have the brakes go out and almost driving to the side of golf galaxy. If you want to come back from skiing in the mountains and have the vehicle gets stuck in four-wheel-drive. If you enjoy changing 9 quarts of oil then you should definitely buy this vehicle.

2014 Double Cab LTZ 4x4
Been driving my 2014 Double Cab LTZ 4x4 now for about 3 months and 4000 miles. Purchased it from a local private seller who bought it new. You could tell this 71 year old man loved his truck, called it his baby. He had a glove box full of service records (truck has 95k miles) and it was babied its whole life. Used truck prices are through the roof right now and I was so fortunate to find such a nice example for KBB Private Party. Dealerships are asking crazy money right now. Mine has every option except sunroof which I don't really use anyway. I love having ventilated seats. After getting into a hot cab they're great and I'm sure the heated steering wheel will be nice during our mild winters. Never had these options before. I love the way the truck drives. It's quieter and smoother than 95% of all the vehicles I've owned and that say's a lot especially since its a pickup truck. Steering is quick and power from the 5.3 V8 is adequate. I've read the transmissions are prone to fail in these. Luckily mine had the fluid changed by the previous owner and he never towed so maybe this one will be trouble free. Mine did have the infamous AC evaporator failure/replacement at 40k miles by the dealer and seems to be working fine since. My heated seats don't work and I've read this was an issue on the 2014 model. I never used heated seats in previous vehicles (we live in the south) but I sure do like the ventilated seats, such a nice addition on those warm days. I feel pretty good about this truck and like it so much it has become my daily, even with higher gas prices.

The Old Reliable truck
When I was a little kid, my grandparent has an old Silverado, we live a lot of adventures in that truck, until one day he died when I was 10 years old, he always said “That Truck is my life, and one day it will be yours”, but my parents decided to sell it, since that day I always dream to have one silverado, and my parents know it, so for my 16 birthday, they decided to buy me one, and that's the history of why i'm reviewing it, it's a nostalgic truck for me. The truck was created to work, hard work, that's why it has a destacable engine line up with more than 300 hp in a V8 form. What I like most about this truck is its power, which is what we all look for in a V8 engine, when you step on the pedal to accelerate, it responds quickly and with power, which is what a V8 is supposed to do, but also I have used this truck on my ranch to transport my horses, which must weigh between 500 kg, and the truck continues to work as if nothing happened, I have also used the truck to go out full with my friends, and it should be noted that I have quite a few friends a little overweight (John if you see this you know I love you bro) and the truck still has and felling with the same power. Another thing that I like and can highlight about the truck is obviously its height, it has a very good height if you want to use it for off road, which is not its main function, but it works well, in my experience it is quite good and I have never had a problem with some stone, pothole, or imperfection in my ranch. The last thing I would like to highlight about this truck is its 4x4, since unlike other trucks I have had, this one is not activated with a button, but with a lever that directly activates the mechanism, no button is better than a lever. Rest assured, obviously it works very well in both snow and mud, the traction is very good and I quite like it. Even though I like this truck a lot, I find a small one, which may seem very insignificant but it has bothered me a lot since I bought the truck, it does not have automatic controls for the mirrors, when I just bought the truck I was looking like crazy for the buttons, until I realized that it didn't have them, I mean if you want to change them, you have to get out of the truck and do it with your own hands, I know it's not a truck of the year, but bro, I have a 2002 F 150 and it already has automatic controls for this, bad there Chevrolet. To conclude, having said all of the above, and taking it into account, I give it a rating of -A, it is clearly not the best truck I have ever had, but it has sentimental value for me and that is worth more than anything else, leaving aside this, the truth is very good for work and even for the family, it is not the most luxurious nor the most expensive in the pick up segment, but it is very worth it.

Used truck, new to me
Love this purchase. Very happy with the truck m
Will switch back to Ford
I have a 14 LT Z71 with the 5.3l V8 and 6 speed 6l80e Transmission that I purchased in 2018 trading in my 2014 F150 King Ranch. Problem #1 two weeks after driving it off the lot the torque converter failed and along with it went my pump and 1 through 4 clutch packs, and bell housing at 90k miles. It was a week long headache with GM for warranty repair but it was finally covered. #2 I did not notice it at first but after a couple of highway trips the truck shakes at 70-80mph and has for the 3 years I have owned it. #3 stabilitrak and anti theft would go crazy and not let the vehicle start, or throw codes. Dealership said they had no idea what caused it. I finally removed the dash and found that the ground wires for the stabilitrak and security system had been tightened into the anti static matting. I corrected my self and have had zero issues since in 3 years. #4 water would leak through the top and into the cab from the xm antenna. GM fixed it under warranty. Overall the truck is decent, I have done alot of repairs and made it mostly enjoyable but It will be my last GM product.

Worst vehicle I've ever owned
Power steering quit working, and doesn't work right causing stabilitrac to randomly kick in which causes you to be pulled to one side, wheel bearings constantly go out,now after truck sets for more than 2 hours the battery will be completely dead when I go to start it and the list goes on

Chevrolets quality control sucks
Truck has a terrible shake at highway speeds, even at lower speeds rides like rack and pinion is trash. Also clunking transmission and runs too hot.
Silverado transmission issues
Bought a pre-owned 2014 Silverado in 2016. In February 2020 the transmission blew, a couple weeks after my warranty expired. GM wouldn’t budge and it cost me $5500 for a GM rebuilt transmission with a 3 year 100K mile warranty. Two weeks ago out of nowhere transmission blew again. 2 weeks after warranty expired. Only 74K miles. GM refusing to honor warranty again. Called GM 800 number and they said I have to bring it to GM dealer and have them diagnose and repair it on my dime and only then will they consider some type of reimbursement. But no guarantees. Ridiculous

Numerous long term ailments
Noticed that the vehicle was somehow losing oil, and pinpointed that the feature that switches from 8 cylinder to 4 cylinder to save fuel somehow causes this. Purchased an aftemarket electronic device to keep it in 8 cylinder mode at all times. It means the fuel efficiency is reduced, but would rather that than to burn oil. Recent new issue is the vehicle has developed the "Chevy shakes". This is a problem with the torque converter in the transmission that causes vibration to occur in the drivetrain. It apparently is very common in the newer Chevy's. Expensive and labor intensive to replace, I've been "getting by" by keeping the vehicle in tow mode which alters the shifting to run the engine at higher RPM's which minimizes the shaking. Again, reduces fuel efficiency to run it this way, but better than a multi-thousand dollar repair. Now my 4WD is malfunctioning, the vehicle is stuck in 4WD. My repair shop said it could repair it, but requires some special tool made by Chevy that they don't have in the shop. Bottom line is this year of Silverado has multiple quality issues in the drivetrain that result in very expensive repairs in the long run, or the inability to use certain features that sound good on paper but don't work. I'm historically a Silverado fan, but this year's version is awful. 6/25/25 Update: Rebuilt transmission at a cost of $5k - following the transmission rebuild the new pump in the transmission was leaking fluid. Pulled transmission again to replace that part (thankfully warrantied by transmission shop). Why is the quality of new parts such garbage? Still burning about a quart of oil every 2,500 miles. Other than that she's still holding up with about 175k miles on her. I'll definitely never buy another Chevy again - going to drive this one into the ground first, then on to some sort of Toyota vehicle.

Silverado takes the gold!
I searched for almost an entire year to find this Silverado 1500 rally edition. They were being advertised heavily on television, but were simply not available at dealerships really found one and I put a deposit down over the phone as I couldn’t make it to the dealership for a few days. When I got there? It was my dream truck! Quadruple black on black everything. it had been sitting there for over a year, as a brand new truck, waiting for me to find it and buy it! I could not have been happier. It was an LT trim level model with all of the goodies and extras. I hear some people have had trouble with this generation of Chevrolet Silverado pick up truck. But if you wait a couple of seconds after starting the vehicle before putting it in gear and then you give it another second for the transmission to engage? This truck is bulletproof it will never fail you. It will never slip, and it will never need those lawsuits people filed. 89 years later I still own this truck and it has been absolutely flawless. Giving me zero issues. I’m at close to 40,000 miles now, definitely lower than average miles but I have hauled over 10,000 pounds up a steep grade with my air conditioning on full blast, and this truck didn’t even blink. The temperature gauge stayed rocksolid at regular running temperature. I always take my truck, on time to the local dealership for its authorized service and maintenance. I recommend you do the same. I expect you’ll have the same experience I’ve had. Chevrolet Silverado, 1500 LT. Like a rock!
Big Tex is rolling on.
Only have 44,000 miles on this one. Only maintenance has been regular service and preventative.

Transmission
I own a 2014 Chevy Silverado high country. I replaced the transmission in 2021 and again in 2023 and now it needs replaced again. I bought a remanufactured one and it was still under warranty went it needed replaced. I have never towed anything with my truck. I have it maintenanced like it’s suppose to. Now fighting with the company over the warranty.
This truck was a great ..........waste of money.
Transmission shredded just after 30k miles. Had it replaced and kept it because it was still under warranty. After 50k miles , warranty ended and then multiple problems - thousands of dollars of repairs. Drove it like a baby always nervous what else would happen. GM turned me into a loyal Toyota customer.

With the pedal to the metal this Volt hybrid could barely make it to 70 mph. Maybe good for city driving but certainly not on the highway.
Still a great overall machine
From the experience at the dealership to the performance of this truck, there hasn't been one thing to complain about--so I won't.
