Used 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Consumer Reviews
Numerous long term ailments
Noticed that the vehicle was somehow losing oil, and pinpointed that the feature that switches from 8 cylinder to 4 cylinder to save fuel somehow causes this. Purchased an aftemarket electronic device to keep it in 8 cylinder mode at all times. It means the fuel efficiency is reduced, but would rather that than to burn oil. Recent new issue is the vehicle has developed the "Chevy shakes". This is a problem with the torque converter in the transmission that causes vibration to occur in the drivetrain. It apparently is very common in the newer Chevy's. Expensive and labor intensive to replace, I've been "getting by" by keeping the vehicle in tow mode which alters the shifting to run the engine at higher RPM's which minimizes the shaking. Again, reduces fuel efficiency to run it this way, but better than a multi-thousand dollar repair. Now my 4WD is malfunctioning, the vehicle is stuck in 4WD. My repair shop said it could repair it, but requires some special tool made by Chevy that they don't have in the shop. Bottom line is this year of Silverado has multiple quality issues in the drivetrain that result in very expensive repairs in the long run, or the inability to use certain features that sound good on paper but don't work. I'm historically a Silverado fan, but this year's version is awful. 6/25/25 Update: Rebuilt transmission at a cost of $5k - following the transmission rebuild the new pump in the transmission was leaking fluid. Pulled transmission again to replace that part (thankfully warrantied by transmission shop). Why is the quality of new parts such garbage? Still burning about a quart of oil every 2,500 miles. Other than that she's still holding up with about 175k miles on her. I'll definitely never buy another Chevy again - going to drive this one into the ground first, then on to some sort of Toyota vehicle.

Chevrolets quality control sucks
Truck has a terrible shake at highway speeds, even at lower speeds rides like rack and pinion is trash. Also clunking transmission and runs too hot.

Worst vehicle I've ever owned
Power steering quit working, and doesn't work right causing stabilitrac to randomly kick in which causes you to be pulled to one side, wheel bearings constantly go out,now after truck sets for more than 2 hours the battery will be completely dead when I go to start it and the list goes on
