ongoing vibration problem cant solve. replaced two rims rotated and balance tires twice. Vibration still persists at 60-70 miles and hour. GM knows this is a problem in the driveline however they can't resolve it.

Where do I begin? I bought my 2014 Silverado Z71 brand new from Cavender. Paid about 42K. Started off ok. Then I had to take it back to the dealer for recall after recall after recall. Something like 12. I lost count. I did all my service at Gunn. When my truck was under warranty I was treated pretty well by the service dept. Unless you count the time they 'Couldn't duplicate' a squeaking bed or the exhaust that made a chirping noise when switching from 4 to 8 cylinders (and they told me, after replacing the entire exhaust system, that it would probably happen again and there was nothing they would do if it did). Oh but once my warranty was out, most service staff I dealt with treated me worse. Noticably. For instance, after 3 years 8 months and only 33K miles on my truck (mind you this was a couple months ago. The truck was very well taken care of) my a/c started only blowing hot air. In the middle of the summer. After looking online and seeing that THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THAT MODEL, I naturally took it back to Gunn for help. They said it could be the condenser or a hose. But, in order to FIND the problem, they had to run a dye through the system and charge the system. Which cost me $250. Again, this is a known issue for Chevy. The manager tells me that the condenser needs to be replaced. How much would that cost? $1300 more!!! I lost it. So I left. I don't have that kind of money to spend on a basically BRAND NEW TRUCK. Right after that, another recall. Turns out the steering wheel might lock up while I'm driving... So that was the nail in the coffin. My dad has the same truck but 2wd. My uncle, brother, and cousin all drive Chevy's. I defended Chevy when friends would make fun of all the issues. Not anymore. I gave you guys way more chances to make things right than I should have. So, in conclusion, I got rid of that piece of sh*t and put my hard earned money into a 2017 Ram. Good riddance, Chevy.

Issues turning on

When I first purchased my truck, everything was doing well until the recall! I sent my truck for all the repairs and even the steering loss. In May of this year I started having problems with the A/C which the cold air won’t come out and bought a anti-freeze bottle to reboot that cold air. Then after having the steering loss repair it started having problems turning on my truck!!! First it came out with low battery and then StabiliTrak. So every time I turn on it has trouble to turn on. I called the dealership and they were like all your recalls are close and they cannot do nothing. They only thing they can do is to do a diagnostic test and see what is wrong with the truck. This is their fault for not the owners! We have a 1997 Chevy suburban that this works plus the A\C works on cold and heat!!! Plus we have another truck Tahoe 2010 still works with no damn issues!!

2014 Silverado do not buy

I’ve drove GM products for 30+ years and this is by far the worst. Several issue from the start and I wish I would have sold it years ago. 4 years old and the paint started peeling from doors and roof GM would not warranty this which is now known to be a very common issue. Fuel injectors have been replaced 3 times in 5 years from failure along with fuel pump. Radiator replaced at 100,000 miles. Transmission went out at 115,000. Non stop list and now at 145,000 the engine is knocking. All on a truck that was well maintained and maintenanced by GM dealer. My own fault for keeping it this long but I’ll never by another GM truck again.

I've avoided GM products for many years due to the quality of design and workmanship. I was pleasantly surprised when I first drove this truck in '14 & and I still a fan today - would definitely buy it again. Highs - very good mileage for a 7000lb vehicle, very quiet interior, driver interface is very good once you're familiar with it, no problems/repairs other than recalls below, numerous power outlets & usb ports, towing set-up is a breeze, tailgate & bed step features are great. Lows - navigation is ancient tech - use your cell, satellite radio has spotty reception, 3 recalls for minor stuff (seat belt/software upgrade/ trailer hitch), turn radius is poor, throttle response is not linear - slow off the line - suspect this by intent to help gas mileage & reduce wheel spin in 2 wheel drive mode - but okay once you get used to it, dealer maintenance experience (gengris chevy) has been poor - they just don't give a damn about you as a customer.

I traded in my 2002 Trailblazer this winter for the new 2014 Silverado for my daily driver, hunting and hauling the boat around. I bought this in February and it was very cold. The morning after after I brought it home, the truck would not start, just a click sound, full electrical power and battery was good. A few more attempts with the key and it started. This happened multiple times. Read on some truck forums that there was a bad batch of starters. I had the dealer replace the starter and no issue since. I rated reliability as poor as this 'new truck with less than 40 miles' could have left me stranded in woods when it was dangerously cold.

Moved to BC and knew I needed a truck to tow our trailer. I looked at them all but ended with the Chevy. It was model year end and I missed 1 option the sunroof...but I guess I will live. I have nothing bad to say about my truck all is good - 1 suggestion, see if we can make the rear bench recline a bit for the kids on long drives. We had an SUV before and they miss that feature.

After I bought this truck used I found that the truck shakes at around 80 MPH. I took it to the dealer, no help really come on! I took it to a tire place to balance the tires it help but still unbearable. I almost traded it in on a new Ford, the Ford was ok but my payment would have doubled. I couldn't bear doing that. Then one day I took it to a high performance tire place, one that sells racing tires. I asked them to balance the wheels to as close to perfection as possible, even tipped them before starting the work. I got it out on the highway and refused to look at the speedometer, until I couldn't resist, holy cow I was doing over 90 mph. The shake is gone, I bought a Ram!

Love the truck hate the ride. I have had this truck for 3 weeks and it has been back to the dealer 4 times. After the last time the tech road with me and told me what the issue was right from the start and said I needed to call GM. I did and have not heard from dealer yet. If issue does not get fixed Lemon law will be issued. Truck came with 18inc wheels and good year tires. The tech says if GM puts 20inc wheels and some better tires on the ride should be better. After paying 40k for new truck it should ride good enough to take on long trips with the family. They took tuck back under lemon law back 5/15/15

I traded in a 2004 Nissan Titan for the redesigned Silverado. I decided on this truck due to the redesign & the gas mileage. WRONG MOVE!!! I have yet to get more than 17mpg & I have 20K miles on it. I do 97% highway driving. I've taken it to the dealership at least once a month complaining about it, no solution. I've contacted GM, no solution. Towing is terrible. I have a single axle 5X10 enclosed trailer & this Silverado was struggling!! And the trailer was empty! I got better mpg from my Titan with 190K miles & 2 cracked manifolds! As soon as Nissan upgrades the Titan I'm running back!! Got consistent 18-19mpg from the Titan since I bought it new in 2004

Highway vibrations pretty bad - been to the dealer 7 times and counting - dealer, techs and reps claim they feel nothing, what I feel is normal for these trucks, yet keep throwing thousands of dollars worth of parts and man hours at it - new shaft - shimmed rear end for shaft angle - tires - going on my 3rd exhaust for whistle/screech noise when coming out of v4 - rental cars fees- field rep came out last time and said he felt nothing yet ordered new shocks all the way around - (if its fine why do they keep fixing nothing??) pinion whine is terrible - radio bad - exhaust drone in v4 @ 40 and 50 mph deafening - all new..... shoulda waited a year or two till they ironed out issues

We found our new 2014 Silverado attractive and fun to drive. It has improved gas mileage over my old 2010 Silverado. We did notice that the new seats don't seem as comfortable as the older 2010, but this may be because they are new. The touch screen is very easy to use and a big improvement over some other vehicles we looked at. The Voice system works well once you get used to it and learn key words. We haven't been able to get the Heated/Cooled seats to work with the Remote Start. We have had the truck to the dealer twice and have been told that everything is working as it should. One morning, the temperature was 35 and the seats still would not turn on.

I have a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 crew cab 4x4 Lt 5.3 v8 5'8" bed. I have owned nothing but chevrolet for the past 12 years, and have been nothing but pleased until now. I have owned this truck for three months now and have a total of 5200 miles on it. The problem started the night I drove it home and noticed a vibration, immediately called the dealer and told them of the problem, long story made short the truck still isn't fixed. Not only the vibration but water in the headlights, seat squeaks around every curb, dash rattles and paint is super thin. GM has really been a disappointment. Save your time and buy a better truck for the money.

I bought a 2014 Chevy Silverado back in Feb. Besides the dealership selling me the truck with a recall that I was not told about till I took the truck in for another batch of recalls at a dealer closer to home .I have had the truck in for a radio problem that the first dealership was to take care of and never did,and now there is vibration every time I stay at a steady speed , It seems like the transmission is searching for a gear and stays in a higher gear and not shifting to a lower gear and starts to lug the engine. causing the vibration.I don't know if there is a computer glitch that is not telling the transmission where to shift ,but it seams to be getting worse. I want my 2000 GMC back

I have owned Chevy trucks for a long time so it was a a given that my next truck would be a Chevy. Truck was brand new off the lot (10 miles). Drove fine and got great gas mileage. Put about 4k miles on it and took it in for recall. Every since then the best gas mileage has been around 19 all highway miles. Plus I keep getting a check engine light code P3444 and then P0306. Been to dealer twice. It stays clear for awhile then comes back. Put 6k on it since last dealer visit and yesterday the light came on which eventually causes a cylinder 6 misfire. This messes up the trans shift which causes the truck to jerk and down shift very hard.

Got my new truck 2 weeks ago. I don't drive my personal vehicles very much and now I am a retired Deputy Sheriff with disabilities. I sold my 2004 Chevy 2500HD-LT-SWB-Extended Cab 4X4 with the 6-1/2 foot bed with the Duramax/Allison in February 2013. It only had 28,000 miles on it with almost 9 years of ownership. I like most things about my new pickup, except the Active Fuel Management system and poor fuel economy. It only has about 250 miles on it now. I used a SuperChips programmer on a 2006 Dodge Charger I was assigned to add power and deactivated the AFM system. The car ran better and got better MPG's, so I ordered one for my new Chevy truck. We will see how it works on the pickup.

First off I didn't have the proper choice in the Edmunds menu for engine. My truck has the 6.2L V8. So as I said it's a beautiful truck but....... Frame rust issues. Front to back and side to side SIGNIFICANT frame rust by 20,000. I live in Michigan but it's kept clean and at 20k come on. Cost $500. Towing. Have a 4k boat that I tow less than 500 miles per summer (short season) the squat that boat (tandem axel custom trailer) put on that truck was unbelievable. Along with the sway made towing unpleasant. Added Adjustable air bags to the rear (air lift) and now it's a beast but at a cost of another $500. Electronics. Had to have some towing sensors replaced at 20K. The truck is a computer. B-to-B covered. At 24K the engine light came on accompanied by an awful noise. Originally said lifters (really at 24K) but turned out to be a bent pushrod. How does that happen at 24k miles? B-to-B covered. Update: 40k miles, out of warranty now and complete engine rebuild. GM kicked in $1,700 (wow). Seems to be the active fuel management causing these failures. As stated stay away. I'm done with GM all together. Can't recommend I'm worried about my out of pocket when the warranty period is over. GM quality is NOT what it used to be.

With barely 40,000 miles on my 2014 Chevy Silverado LTZ the AC no longer works, and there are no replacement parts available ....period! Are you kidding you're General Motors and you can't fix your own trucks ? Thats right no parts at least that what their dealer told us. I know no one will believe this but sadly its true. Do you think maybe they ran out of AC parts because there's a widespread AC problem but they would rather not have a recall and they would rather not stand behind their product. So it's going to be a HOT HOT SUMMER !!! Now about that transmission, It's got to be the worst shifting automatic I've ever experienced in 50 years of driving. Especially in traffic, this transmission is a nightmare, it stumbles when it should accelerate and it downshifts with such force that it produces a very loud bang and jolt ( like someone just ran into you) and that violent a downshift just can't be good for it even though the Chevy tech said it's "not a problem". I'm not even going to get into the unfathomable displays and quirky software, navigation etc your better off just using your smart phone, that is if the bluetooth system in the truck is functioning. You know what, American car manufacturers have been building some really dependable cars and trucks for quite sometime now, but this truck, as pretty and comfy as it is, reminds me of the crap Detroit was selling us back in the 70's. Sorry but time for this consumer to move on. Chevy you failed this one and i don't think you'll get another chance with me.

Being in government services and having to travel all over Texas, I've driven many trucks. Ive driven Ford king ranch, Lariat, Dodge. The two fords and Dodges had horrible gas mileage as well as ride and reliability. This is my first Chevy and I'm very impressed with the ride and quality of this Truck. I would like to inform you that I own an environmental company that does very well, I'm nowhere near cheap and being in my vehicle long periods of time so owning the top of the line in trucks is a must for me. A-Z about this truck is awesome!!! I towed what I thought to be 5k pound trailer only to later find out it weighed 9k pound and not even noticing it.

I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 LT 4X4 with 80,000 miles driven respectively. Ij have replaced the ac condenser and brake calipers. The transmission is shifting inconsistently and hard. Hard to trust. 07/24/24 Update: The radio is now having issues. The touch button feature is malfunctioning. The transmission is still working but its not smooth. The driver side door is rusting and this truck has not been abused or in bad weather.

I bought my 2014 Silverado new almost 8 years ago. Besides the recalls and an a/c problem (which I got fixed) I have had no problems what so ever with it. It is an extremely comfortable truck to drive or be a passenger in. It just hit 100,000 miles and I still haven’t had any problems. As long as I don’t “abuse” it (which I don’t) I should get an easy 200,000 more miles out it. I love it! PS, The options on here are not giving me an 8 cyl on the LT model. I have a 2014 Silverado double cab with an 8 cyl.

Problem changing between 4 and 8 cylinders

I just purchased the Silverado 2014, less than 1500 miles. It squeaks each time it changes from 4 to 8 cylinders. Dealer said that nothing could be done. They could repeat the problem but said that GM had no resolution. This is most annoying to say the least. I'll track each time I take it in for repair; if they continue to say it can't be fixed I'll file under the state lemon law. Too bad, really was looking forward to my new truck.

I have this truck as a work truck. I’m a supervisor so I’m not putting a lot of strain on this truck. I’ve had it since new, it goes for regular maintenance. This is by far the biggest piece of crap truck I’ve ever had to deal with. At 136000km, I’ve had to replace the rear suspension, front shocks naturally right after the 5 year warranty, the ignition lock cylinder needs to be replaced, the engine sounds like it’s labouring constantly. This truck has had about 10 recalls done on it throughout the years. The infotainment center can’t even keep the time correct. The seats are uncomfortable, the space between the seats and the middle console are perfect for any thing to fall between, then they fall underneath the seat where they can only be retrieved with a coat hanger and 20 minutes of patience. There’s nothing redeeming about this truck. The engine isn’t fuel efficient, but also has next to no power. GM really makes garbage.

Brake Issue at 25K on my 2014 Silverado

Since purchase there have been 7 recalls. The truck is very comfortable but I find the V6 auto to be very sluggish shifting on the highway. The vehicle vibrates at highway speed. The major issue to report is a braking issue. The brake peddle became very stiff and would not stop the truck. I had to stand on the brake with both feet to get it to stop. And when it did, it locked up..no ABS, no pulse, locked up solid. The Truck is 3 years old and has 25,800 miles on it, I called the dealer we towed it to and they said, I quote..The warranty expired May 31st (Today is June 26th... so 26 days out). The estimate was 1900 bucks. Frustrated, I looked on line and found Service Note PIT5361 regarding the same problem. I will not buy another Chevy again, seems they really don't care about safety or quality..

I purchased my 2014 1500 Lt NEW from a great Dealer. And the dealer is the only reason I still have it. Chevrolet dropped the ball on this one- WHAT JUNK. I am considering going back to FORD or (hate to say it out loud) a Toyota. This truck started with a bad paint job (silver) flaking off from the cab and the bed on both sides.. Then oil cooling lines, radio replaced, Radiator leak/replaced and then Air conditioning condenser replaced. The starter and battery went out within 4yrs. These did not include recalls. The dealer covered what they could and the other stuff, that Chevrolet is aware are problems, were not covered (air conditioning condenser). Chevrolet pretty much told me to bad/sucks to be you. The truck has had the transmission rebuilt once and now there are electrical issues. The truck has 137,000 miles now. Its mostly a daily driver and only pulls a 12 or 16ft trailer 8 to 10 times a year. The quality of this Chevrolet Silverado is a Joke. Sooooo disappointed in Chevrolet- My last 03 Silverado had 260,000 miles on it when I traded it in and was a great Truck.

I purchased a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado new and have had nothing but problems with it. The air conditioning went out at 25000 miles. Now the headlights are fogging up on the inside and the steering wheel is coming apart. This vehicle is parked every night in a climate controlled garage.I was a Chevrolet Dealer for over 15 years and have always been pleased with the product. They did help me some with the cost to replace the entire a/c system , probably because they knew they had a problem with it , but they refuse to help me with the headlights and steering wheel. I might could try and glue the corners of the steering wheel that are coming off , but I think the clouding of the headlights is a safety issue. I have been a loyal customer and even a dealer , and I currently own 5 GM vehicles , but will probably buy a Ford or Ram next time unless they step up and fix this problem. My truck only has 26000 miles on it , but is out of warranty by time.

Two year update: Need another truck One year update: Still hate this truck My trans left me on the side of the road at 94,000 miles a month after i bought it and i had to get the whole thing replaced. leather seats are cracking. The dash makes a noise like there's a rock hitting the window constantly when it both warms up and cools down. When its cold outside all four doors and the center console rattle enough to make you want to drive yourself into a tree. 25,000 dollars for this, i should have just kept my 04. never again.

I looked at dodge, ford and Chevrolet and choose the Chevrolet for price. I now have 700 miles on my truck with no mechanical issues or ride issues and is very comfortable and fun to drive. the only problem I have had is keeping the tire pressure up but that's because of the cold weather. I have plenty of power and great fuel economy with the 4-8 set up. the transmission works great and is very smooth, so smooth I don't even feel it shift but know its working great by watching the tachometer. Now Edmunds doesn't list my actual truck I bought. It's a 2014 crew cab Z71 LT 4X4 6'6'' box with the 5.3 motor. Have the 8'' touch screen love it. Great Truck!!!

The new styling caught my eye and reminded me of the 80-90's body style which I love. I was sad to hear that the Vortec engines had been replaced but anxious to see what the promised added horsepower and economy would hold. The new Ecotec provides plenty of acceleration and the steering is smooth and responsive. The cab is quiet to outside noises, well insulated. The only problem I have found is shaking/vibration at higher speeds. It causes the center console to shake. But Its something I can live with.

I bought the 2014 silverado v6 super cab brand new back in January for the unheard of price of $26,000. It wasnt probably last on my list of desirable trucks since I thought it was ugly. BUT, I learned to love it. Due to the recent truck shortage, I traded it in (7/21) with 59,000 miles for the also unheard of amount 9f $24,500. It cost me $1,500 to have this truck 6.5 years and 60k miles. If it wasnt for the trade in amount, I would have kept it. Issues I had: fan blower motor went within the first month. Unacceptable for something like that to happen, butI had the factory warranty, so had the dealer replace. 4x4 stopped at around 18,000 miles. Turned out to be the sensor or computer processing unit (still under warranty). At about 50,000 miles, the radiator fan wouldnt turn off. Out of warranty at this point so I had my mechanic fix it. I believe it was a relay and was only about $120. All in all, thats it. All issues still allowed the vehicle to be driven. Id call that a dependable truck considering 2014 was a new model truck. Some hiccups, but nothing major. I went v6 not by choice, but because it was a left over on the dealer lot at an amazing price. I averaged around 20 mpg's which is incredible for a truck this size (my 5.4 f150 got about 12-14). If you are worried about the power of the v6, dont be. Its not like old 6's. Its close to 300 hp/torque, and I towed my 3000 lb camper, but hills could be a challenge. The interior was my favorite part. It has more features than my wifes 2017 Traverse LT. The stereo is decent (waaaay better than my 2012 mustang), but I also changed that to a 7 speaker kicker system. In closing, great truck. 60,000 mostly trouble free miles. I would have easily kept it if not for the insane trade in.

This truck started out with a shifting vibration at different shifting points. Brought to dealer and told it was learning how I drive. This with a load clonking sound when in reverse also told that was a coupling and nothing to do about. Now at 27K and truck is noisier than ever, told dealer truck has A.D.D. Would not buy another GM. At 64K truck needed a rebuid of engine. Dealer and Gm stepped up and took truck back and got me in a 2017.

Here is the Good; Very quite ride and smooth ride, very nice steering wheel, leather wrap is great quality, has lots of wide space in the interior of the cabin, Great step up in the back bumper to get into the bed of the truck, great for what is was built for which is hauling, exterior is very handsome, good looking truck. Here is the Bad; electronic steering always going out, vibrates at about 50mph, the side view mirrors are too small, back seat feels cheap and are like sitting on cardboard, not enough leg room, the whole cabin feels cheap, feels claustrophobic inside, I think the dash board and the instrument panel looks like a cartoon character design it, the whole dash looks dated and it's a new interior, front seats are not that comfortable on long distance, only 18" wheels on an off road vehicle really , gas sucks on this truck I am only averaging 13.7mpg and I don't have a heavy foot, I think the doors where you rest your arm is too narrow and the center arm rest has that useless plastic thing down the center of it where you rest your arm is just stupid, no vents for the back seat, the roof in the inside cabin slopes down into your visual site which makes the truck look cramped poor design, it does not feel like a truck, it feels like a short in height car, they need to make the truck more tall than wide. not enough ground clearance sits to low to the ground, the windshield needs to be 2-3 inches more in height. I am sorry but the new design does not save on fuel like the claim, Ford and Ram do a much better job on the interior and more user friendly and more ergonomic for driver and passengers, the back tail gate does not lock when you use keyless entry system, this is just stupid, in the center of the dash where you touch screen is they have 115volt down at the bottom and you cannot see it, they door handles are lit up, but not enough to make any difference, this is a miss. and a few recalls already and I have not had it a year yet. I will be trade this in for something else (Ram or Ford or Jeep).

I have had my new 2014 Silverado for a few months now. Here is the build configuration: LT Double Cab 4x4 5.3L V-8 All-Star Package Bed Liner 33,000 out the door (after tax) Disclaimer, I have driven similar versions of Ram and Fords 2014 trucks. I have actually always owed Fords up until this point of my life. This truck just does everything perfect. When I test drove the Ram and Ford, the Silverado just seemed like everything was put together in a way that made it feel like the entire truck is made out of one piece, aka, German sedan like.

This is my first Chevrolet Silverado year 2014. This is a short bed truck and it rides like a buckboard. This truck will beat you to death. The inside instrumentation is for kids and not for men. I don't have time driving down the road trying to figure out all the buttons and what they do. I have received the second recall in this vehicle. I want a truck to be on the road and not in the shop. i traded in a 30 year old truck with a V 8 motor for this truck with a V 6 motor and it does not get any better mileage than the old truck did. That's not saying very much for today's technology. I have loss 18 inches of leg room in the front and 12 inches behind the seat. The cab is claustrophobic. I am right on top of the steering wheel and it's airbag and i can't get away from it. I pray that i will not have an accident. My children will not let my grandchildren ride with us because of the air bags and the close space in the cab. I miss that.

I have a 2014 2WT Double Cab 4x4 truck with the 4.3 engine. I'm very pleased with the vehicle. The 2WT package is a great value in my opinion. The truck is very comfortable & surprisingly good on gas. The bluetooth with phone is a but quirky but once I figured out the the system, it works ok. Took it on a 500 mile trip & was a very comfortable ride. For what I paid, I'm happy with my purchase

Handles everything I throw at it. Pretty good on gas if I keep it light on the accelerator and in the bed. Handles loads well and towes great. I tow a two horse trailer (about 7,000lb) on a gooseneck and it handels well. A little noisy on hills, and pretty thirsty (11 mpg) (its the v8 version too, it wasn’t an option in the model selection). But gets the job done. Seats are comfortable, for a work truck. Vinal footwells are the best.
