Some disappointments
I have owned Chevy trucks for a long time so it was a a given that my next truck would be a Chevy. Truck was brand new off the lot (10 miles). Drove fine and got great gas mileage. Put about 4k miles on it and took it in for recall. Every since then the best gas mileage has been around 19 all highway miles. Plus I keep getting a check engine light code P3444 and then P0306. Been to dealer twice. It stays clear for awhile then comes back. Put 6k on it since last dealer visit and yesterday the light came on which eventually causes a cylinder 6 misfire. This messes up the trans shift which causes the truck to jerk and down shift very hard.
Awesome Z71 Silverado
My 2014 Silverado has 10,000 miles and NO problems. The 5.3 V8 plenty of power Average 17.5 mpg

2014 Chevy Silverado LT All-Star Edition Z/71 Double Cab-5.3 V-8
Got my new truck 2 weeks ago. I don't drive my personal vehicles very much and now I am a retired Deputy Sheriff with disabilities. I sold my 2004 Chevy 2500HD-LT-SWB-Extended Cab 4X4 with the 6-1/2 foot bed with the Duramax/Allison in February 2013. It only had 28,000 miles on it with almost 9 years of ownership. I like most things about my new pickup, except the Active Fuel Management system and poor fuel economy. It only has about 250 miles on it now. I used a SuperChips programmer on a 2006 Dodge Charger I was assigned to add power and deactivated the AFM system. The car ran better and got better MPG's, so I ordered one for my new Chevy truck. We will see how it works on the pickup.
The 2014 Chevy 1500 LTZ is a very HOT truck
With barely 40,000 miles on my 2014 Chevy Silverado LTZ the AC no longer works, and there are no replacement parts available ....period! Are you kidding you're General Motors and you can't fix your own trucks ? Thats right no parts at least that what their dealer told us. I know no one will believe this but sadly its true. Do you think maybe they ran out of AC parts because there's a widespread AC problem but they would rather not have a recall and they would rather not stand behind their product. So it's going to be a HOT HOT SUMMER !!! Now about that transmission, It's got to be the worst shifting automatic I've ever experienced in 50 years of driving. Especially in traffic, this transmission is a nightmare, it stumbles when it should accelerate and it downshifts with such force that it produces a very loud bang and jolt ( like someone just ran into you) and that violent a downshift just can't be good for it even though the Chevy tech said it's "not a problem". I'm not even going to get into the unfathomable displays and quirky software, navigation etc your better off just using your smart phone, that is if the bluetooth system in the truck is functioning. You know what, American car manufacturers have been building some really dependable cars and trucks for quite sometime now, but this truck, as pretty and comfy as it is, reminds me of the crap Detroit was selling us back in the 70's. Sorry but time for this consumer to move on. Chevy you failed this one and i don't think you'll get another chance with me.

Beautiful truck but stay away
First off I didn't have the proper choice in the Edmunds menu for engine. My truck has the 6.2L V8. So as I said it's a beautiful truck but....... Frame rust issues. Front to back and side to side SIGNIFICANT frame rust by 20,000. I live in Michigan but it's kept clean and at 20k come on. Cost $500. Towing. Have a 4k boat that I tow less than 500 miles per summer (short season) the squat that boat (tandem axel custom trailer) put on that truck was unbelievable. Along with the sway made towing unpleasant. Added Adjustable air bags to the rear (air lift) and now it's a beast but at a cost of another $500. Electronics. Had to have some towing sensors replaced at 20K. The truck is a computer. B-to-B covered. At 24K the engine light came on accompanied by an awful noise. Originally said lifters (really at 24K) but turned out to be a bent pushrod. How does that happen at 24k miles? B-to-B covered. Update: 40k miles, out of warranty now and complete engine rebuild. GM kicked in $1,700 (wow). Seems to be the active fuel management causing these failures. As stated stay away. I'm done with GM all together. Can't recommend I'm worried about my out of pocket when the warranty period is over. GM quality is NOT what it used to be.
