Used 2006 Chevrolet HHR Consumer Reviews
CHEVY HHR IS JUNK. A CAR THAT SHOULD NEVER HAVE
Bought the HHR new. This has been the biggest piece of junk, money pit I have ever owned. Constant front end problems. This car has been in the shop more than all for the cars I have owned in the last 50 years combined. This has been an undependable vehicle since it was new. The blower motor control has been replaced 4 times and has gone bad again. Before 60,000 the brakes and rotors have had to be replaced 3 times. Most all of my driving is highway commuter miles. I will never again own a GM product.

Needed new alternator at 98,000 miles
Updates "Smooth Ride" 7/22/09 and "Needed new engine at 71,000 miles pm 8/22/09. Car would not start. Got jumped, went a mile, car died big time. Towed to dealer. $816 for new alternator. Battery is still OK. If you buy an American car new, get that 100,000 mile warranty!
Beautiful car from the outside.
I bought my 2006 Chevy hhr ls used with 72000 miles in early 2009. Three months in I begin to experience shaking in the front end when brakes are applied. My brakes get checked and replaced but still the problem continues. Two years and 25k mi later this issue has gotten worse and worse to now the whole steering wheel shakes. Several different dealerships were unable to find the cause of the issue. As many others have stated, the interior stains very easily. Not good for young families. The back interior light dome broke. The front ones on the review mirror flicker on and off and sometimes stay on. Everything is backwards. Headlights can almost not be replaced without going to the dealer.
What a looker!
I have waited on the HHR !! The dealer got this on Tuesday pm, I saw on Wednesday am and the rest is history. Everywhere I went this vehicle drew stares, smiles, and looks of wow! I had people with a lot of smiles and thumbs up. This is an awesome little ride. The 2.2L has plenty of pep on the freeway and great fuel economy. I have only driven 250 miles but it is on the mark at 30 mpg. For the money it is a great value and is loaded with much more than I was expecting. Don't miss this one, it is one of the best retro designs yet.
Update to "Great Vehicle"
I have now owned my HHR for 2 years and can provide an update. I am still very satisfied with the purchase. I get through my daily routine - and then some - without guzzling too much gas. I turn a few heads when the wheels are shined and the windows are down (which is always fun). One thing to note before I go on with my details: the American product is now AT LEAST as good as any foreign product. Take my HHR for example. Potential buyer, be advised... look at the reports!
