Bottom line this is a great car that very few people are aware of or purchased. I've had no issues in the first 25K just the standard oil changes and tire rotations. Plenty of power on the road, AWD is great in the snow, and the rear cargo area will easily hold bicycles of all types and sizes. I'm getting between 29/32 miles per gallon. Most people think its a Volvo (Buick? who knew?) and I enjoy not seeing myself at every stoplight (think Honda CRV, Toyota RAV, or any of many GM offerings). Very unfortunate that its cancelled. I would take another.

Rented UK Vauxhall/Opel version

We rented the UK version of this car so I can't speak to the US version in terms of engine. The rental used a diesel engine that ran great and got great mileage, I don't know the US engine. I had never even heard of Vauxhall and was looking for information on this car here when I found it was the same basic car. We drove all over the highlands, narrow winding roads at highway speeds, small towns, and some city driving. This is one of the most comfortable cars I've ever driven. It handles really well on windy roads. The parking aides and sensors were really useful as this is a big car for a lot of UK spaces. The passenger space is really roomy and comfortable. The storage space is incredible. I wouldn't buy it without test driving the US engine, but everything else is top notch. I've seen reviews try to compare it to Subaru wagons. Its not an off road vehicle, it's a much nicer drive for anywhere else.

I think this is the best overall car I have ever owned. I am an enthusiast having owned over 100 cars in my life. Car is fast and handles great. All wheel drive is a great benefit and works great on soft sand. Clearance is lacking but the skid plate helps. I get about 26 mpg in town and have gotten as high as 42 in one 50 mile segment. Normally on the road I get around 35 mpg. I improved the small item storage with some add on pieces bought online. Overall I am very pleased. I now have 28,000 trouble free miles. Except for a flat tire due to a nail at a construction site, no issues at all. Sorry they have dropped this model since it means I will need to keep this one longer than normal for me. Oh well.

Near-Perfect Blend of Utility, Sportiness & Luxury

Fortunately GM can't market a vehicle properly, or there would be a TourX in every other driveway across the USA. Thankfully I can bathe daily in the exclusivity of a truly fine automobile. Not so much a wolf in sheep's clothing, more like a Timothy Dalton James Bond: effective, does everything right, but just doesn't get proper accolades as the studio squandered it's opportunity to support it. My Pedigree: from a 1966 Mercury Monterey to a Gremlin, a Trans Am to a LeMans & Grand Prix, full-size Blazer, F150, VW Rabbit, GTI, Grand Caravan, Audi A8, Jaguar XKR vert.....and many, many more; well I've owned a lot of cars. The TourX, as stupid as the name is, is a genuine contender for Best Daily Driver ever. No, it won't win any drag races. No, it won't crush your 911 on the slalom. And no, it won't tow your overpriced boat with it's twin 250 Johnson outboards. What it will do is EVERYTHING else. The engine is just peppy enough to put a smile on your face. The steering is near-perfect, with excellent turn-in and proper feedback. Body roll is at a minimum, as you would expect from a German-engineered chassis. Brakes are fade-less. The suspension is compliant without being jarring. The permanent AWD is as good as any I have owned. It is a beast in a driving rain or deep snow. And there is over 73 cubic feet of cargo space with a nice, low load floor. It gets a consistent 32-34 highway mpg. AND it looks great with an all-glass roof (which I had tinted). It is quiet and comfortable. I regularly drive from PA to FL, 16 hours straight through. This is one of few cars I've owned where I don't have to make adjustments to the seats every few hours... the contour is perfect. So, what's not to like? The pickable nits are minor. GM's adaptive cruise still likes to barrel up to traffic, over brake, then slowly compensate. And GM's emergency braking likes to toss out false positives now and then. The tranny can be sluggish, but you learn when to work the gas pedal to get the response you need. Paddle shifters would have been very beneficial. And while the cabin is attractive, it is not up to the luxury arena Buick is trying to contend in. Having said that, the dash is laid out very well. IntelliLink and Carplay like each other most of the time. The heated seats and steering wheel are typical GM masterpieces. As to the lack of a spare tire, I agree that is outrageous so....buy one. I purchased a compact spare and jack. There is a wheel well in the trunk area, and with some creative trimming you can keep your insulation and sub-woofer in the same place. So there you have it. I bought used, with every single option available and 18k on the odo. 9 months later it just turned 38k. If the reliability is there, this guy will be in my stable for a long, long time.

a short but revealing test drive

I spent 15-20 minutes in this car with a salesman on board, so no hard driving involved. Was impressed by the feel of the brakes and steering as well as the ride, which was not wallow-y at all. However, I did not drive it hard so no conclusions there. Low speed ride was solid, steering and brakes responsive and not over servoed. Felt the engine was a little bit tepid for a car of this mass, I could see having to mat it frequently when picking up speed. Also has the expected turbo lag down low from a stop but nothing too objectionable. Quite roomy inside, tons of cargo space. Controls, during my short drive, seemed logical and easy to operate. Overall I would like to spend more time in it and drive it a little harder to see how it behaves. One note, there was a small rattling noise over bumps, I suspect it was the sunroof but could not verify.
