Exceeding Expectations

This is our first Volvo. I had thought that I would never own a Volvo due to their older, boxy models that did not appeal to me. But their newer, current models caught my attention, and when we test drove the S-60 we were quite impressed. To get a comprable car with the plush interior and performance engine, such as BMW or Mercedes, you'd have to pay about $10K more. Alternatively, you could get an Accura TL which is comprable in price, performance and size, but it looks and feels cheap compared to the Volvo S- 60.

Purchased w/ the premium and sport packages. I've only had it a couple of weeks but I look forward to every opportunity to take it out. The ride is smooth, comfortable and peppy. As for roominess, I'm 6'2" and 175 lbs. My girls fit nicely in the back seats but adults are a little more cramped, however that's expected in a sport sedan. The turbo gives it the added power it needs. I test drove the non- turbo and found it to be too lacking in the power dept. Seats are very comfortable and the stereo is above average and easy to work. Hope to have a more thorough review after I put more miles on it. I'm looking forward to those miles!

I test drove many cars, including the automatic version of this car which completely lacks FUN of any sort as I knew before I drove it. However, I was locked onto the interior. What a pleasure! I made calls and wrote e- mails and behold someone backed out of their special order...6 Speed. Night and Day compared to the auto. And yes I drove the heck out of it before I purchased it. I put so many miles on it I had to buy it. I wasn't about to let this one go.

This is our 4th Volvo (since 1984), we picked up this one in Sweden, using a free flight from Volvo. Put on 2500 miles in Europe before shipping it back to CA (at Volvo expense.) Sure beats a rental car. My current Volvo is a 1988 240DL, which still runs fine--very reliable.
