2024 Volkswagen Atlas
I test drove 2024 and 2025 model years of the VW Atlas, the Honda Pilot, the Subaru Ascent, and the Chevy Traverse. All of the vehicles had all wheel drive, similar EPA fuel ratings, and similar options. I ended up purchasing the Volkswagen Atlas SE with Technology. In my opinion the Volkswagen Atlas had the most room and the smoothest, quietest ride. For me it was also the best value … for my money with options I required like a roof rack and a tow package. I had it on a 200 mile road trip and averaged just over 29 mph gallon on the highway using regular gas. Around town I average just about 20 miles per gallon. The 2 liter turbocharged engine has plenty of get up and go when it's needed. Some people complain about all the controls for things like heat, air conditioning, and radio all being part of the infotainment system, but it doesn't take long to figure out how to use it and there are shortcut buttons on the panel that take you right to those functions. Volkswagen also has a voice activation system that allows you to control all those functions hands-free. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and believe I made the right choice.
