2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid
It is truly different from the non-Hybrid RAV4. The hybrid is built on the Lexus power train. The ride is smoother, quieter, and better pickup. This is my 3rd Toyota in a row; never purchased two of the same manufacturer, let alone 3! The first 2 were Prius and the Prius V. They have a clock visible at all times. The RAV4 has the clock show only on the Home Page. I have not sat in the … rear seats but do like that they are bench seats not bucket. There is only one USB port; at this level I expected two ports. That said, it has a cigarette lighter so I am using a USB connector through the lighter. I had purchased a new MP3 player; trouble installing, returned it and purchased an iPod. The iPod connected seamlessly. I wish they kept the CD-player - purchased an external player and hooked it up. Not all my music fits on the iPod. Fuel economy is as stated on the sticker so expectations were set appropriately. I added the Technology package. Amazing 360 degree view. Used it getting out of a parking space where cars were parked haphazardly...much easier. Due to the hybrid battery being stored in the cargo area, you lose a couple of cubic feet of space AND the fold-down back seats don't fold down completely so the floor is higher at one end ... becomes an issue when loading say a bureau that fits in the back but not in the front area of the cargo space. Can't speak to resale value nor maintenance costs as it is a brand new car. Navigation - in both of the Prius cars, when traveling to parts unknown and with the music playing loudly, when there was an upcoming turn, there would be a loud ding and the directions would be given. Then when the turn came, there would be two loud dings. Now, the dings are very quiet and I can't seem to find out how to increase the volume. That said, the sound system is better than the 2012 Prius V Level 5. In the Prius, I needed to add a sub-woofer. Don't need it for the RAV4. Rochester, NY is known for its winters and tonight's weather is no exception - icy roads. The car handled beautifully with the intuitive all-wheel drive. I purchased the technology package as well as the protective parts...door jambs, side moldings, front film, all of them. Purchased at Dorschel. Very happy driving this car!
