2017 Toyota Prius Prime
Happy with our Prime. Touch screen is a bit sensitive. Seat heater switch position is absurd. Can't see it and difficult to reach. Heads up display is good, but speed limit indicator is intermittently displayed and doesn't appear on GPS screen. Rear storage area is compromised by the additional battery. Better rear seat head room compared to the Volt. Better gas-only mileage than … Volt or Sonata Plug-in. Troubles with Bluetooth connection to phone, but still sorting out. Adaptive cruise control works well, although use manual override if approaching a traffic light or highway slow down. Light near electrical charge port is nice, but would be good to have illuminated button all the time - difficult to locate in the dark after light is off, e.g. when disconnecting the cable after charging. Lighting for rear hatch area is poor and requires manually switching on/off. Had dealer reprogram back-up beeper, as constant beeping while in reverse was annoying. Had dealer install black applique over shifter console to cover the white trim. Picked this car over the Clarity plug-in (safety features on that car are not as advanced) and Volt (concerned about reliability, resale, and rear passenger room), and Sonata plug-in hybrid (poor availability, no rear seat pass through). Lack of middle seating position in the rear of the Prime is a negative. Voice recognition on navigation leaves something to be desired.
Update at 11,000 miles. No problems to report. With plug-in feature and ability to charge away from home, still have well over 100 mpg (e).
