2009 Nissan Cube
Researched on the forums before we bought our used 09 Cube with 72k. Saw the reports of the CVT issues, along with Nissan's warranty extension to 10 yrs/120k miles on this cursed trans. Used the negative reviews to negotiate a great price from the dealer and set off in our strange little beast. A couple of cross-country trips and 30k later, the trans issue appeared as a loud whining and … some slipping under acceleration. Went to our nearest Nissan dealer, (Al Piemonte) and asked them to change the oil and check the trans, (didn't mention that I knew of the warranty extension). The service manager called the next morning with "bad news and good news", then explained how the trans was toast, but that Nissan would cover with an updated replacement. Picked up the car 3 days later with a new trans, oil change and complete detail... free of charge! Never had such phenomenal dealer service. 50k additional miles with nothing more than oil, brake pads and tire changes. Sold it for something to tow our small camper, but just bought another 09 Cube for my son. This time with the 6 speed manual and fully expect to see 300k on this car. Thanks Nissan, for a really fun ride!
