2020 Ford Explorer
Recently drove a limited for about 300 miles in San Jose and Monterey CA. I was excited when handed the key, but that faded fast, very fast. This SUV was a chore to drive and unsatisfying. Wind noise from the side windows and a near constant rattle from the sunroof took away from the enjoyment. The seats were comfortable once you worked the power adjustments to get everything just right … and the power adjustable tilt and telescope steering wheel really helped. My 13 year old daughter had no complaints about the second row.
The ride, to us, was awful on anything but The smoothest pavement. My wife called it “floaty” I thought it was stiff and jarring. The steering and the multitude of driver aids drove me nuts. The steering was numb, imprecise and devoid of feel. Plus, I felt like I was fighting the lane-keep assist at times. I suppose more time with the car and learning how to turn features on or off and adjust them could help.
