I've owned Mercedes, BMWs, a mini van, large Ford Trucks, small Japanese vehicles, a Mustang, a Blazer, a VW Bug, a GTI, a hot RS Audi and a Land Rover. The 2023 Chevrolet Bolt 2LT has gone further past my expectations then any other vehicle I have owned. Each of my friends, and I, that have driven the car are blown away by the accelerations, roominess, superior ride height, headroom … for us 6'2"+ tall guys, dashboard layout, high resolution 10.2" display, storage space, 360 degree visibility, low drag coefficient, church mouse silence, arrow-straight tracking on the highway, gigantic outside mirrors, stylish swirl design wheels and myriad of thoughtful appointments (like LED front/rear lights, front sequential turn signals, bodacious sounding audio system with decent sub-woofer, and much more). I couldn't help but hole shoot some performance cars and even one performance cycle from the red light being someone that grew up with much time spent at the drag strips around Washington DC. Were they visibly upset that this granny-looking, egg-shaped sleeper waxed them? Yes. And from 25 mph, this thing takes off like a jack rabbit. Having 100% torque from 0 RPM produces an feeling of performance that is unheard of from a $32,000 car (that's before subtracting Federal EV tax credits and Chevrolet's tossing in $1,000 towards my home Level-2 charger). So essentially for $25,000 I have a hot hatch that blows the doors off of unsuspecting Dodge Charger Scat Paks and other so-called super cars. I drive this car conservatively most times, but knowing I have a mini rocket ship is sure gratifying ... LoL! On occasional 300 mile trips, ok, sure, the charger is slow but not painfully so. I'll charge up two times and get to my destination with no sweat and could easily do it with one charge to 90% ... and arrive at my destination with at least 40-60 miles of range left. So all these people comparing this little gem with Tesla Model 3 vehicles can keep doing so. The front wheel drive is very controllable and the cab-forward design maximizes the wheelbase length and thus the riding comfort. There is nothing out here that compares with what you get for your money with a Bolt EV. I see no reason to purchase a Bolt EUV that is 6 inches longer and weighs more. The EV's lighter weight simply lets me embarrass supercars that much more. Yeah, they'll catch up with me eventually, but I am laughing so hard at how upset they were that it doesn't matter. Everyone can keep punching holes in this car and criticize the fires it had years ago ... plus the slower onboard 55Kw charger, but I don't care. Even the used ver 1.0 Bolts that have had the batteries exchanged by Chevrolets recall now have an excellent vehicle. I've driven 2019 Bolts and I am just as impressed as with my 2023. So all you procrastinators can continue to rack your minds over whether this is a good choice while I am having a ball with this fine vehicle. Oh it doesn't have a frunk ... and oh it doesn't have access to the Tesla SuperCharger network (for now) and so forth, but in the meanwhile I am having no problems charging at public Level-3 charging stations, no problem with range and no problem having a lot of fun driving this micro beast.
