Used 2022 Toyota Sienna Consumer Reviews
Poor quality - terrible front seats
What I like - the MPG, we get 32 MPG with zero attempt to drive it like a hybrid. What I don’t like - poor build quality and the front seats. The carpet on the passenger sunder the front center dash has pulled away from the plastic trim, the dealer “glued” it back in place, but it came out again. I suspect it was cut wrong or installed incorrectly at the factory. It makes me feel like I am driving a 30 year old Dodge Grand Caravan. Also, the weather stripping around the back hatch was not installed correctly and came out with the slightest touch. Dealer replaced it, hopefully it was done correctly. The front passenger seat cannot be raised up and down, it has two adjustments - forward/back and adjust the seat back. It is almost like having to sit in the 3rd row. The driver’s seat goes up and down. Overall the seats are not comfortable for long drives. I do not recommend.

A/C & Power Door Issues. Loud. Bad Rear Camera.
I had been wanting a 2022 Sienna for several months and finally got one, but I've been disappointed with it. My 2013 Venza had better features. The 2022 Sienna isn't worth the price tag. The rear view camera is very poor quality. The audio system screen and controls are terrible and unintuitive. The a/c and engine are extremely loud. The middle air vents blow hot when they should blow cold. The trunk seats do not lay flat. The sliding door crushed my child one day when both she and I had pushed the button to open it (obviously, not realizing we both did). It did not recognize her tiny body was there and closed on her, crushing her leg. I had to pry it open! The list goes on and on... Word to the wise, check a Sienna community chat site before buying one, so you know what you're getting into (I did not). If I could go back in time, I would not have bought it.

Worst of the Big 3 Minivans!
In the past 4 months I have driven round trip from Chicago to Columbus in a 2022 Honda Odyssey, 2022 Chrysler Pacifica, and most recently, 2022 Toyota Sienna. The Honda and Chrysler were very impressive for what they are (my daily drivers are a Mercedes and Porsche). The Toyota was incredibly terrible by comparison. The hybrid engine is not only overmatched, it sounds like a lawn mower. My wife thought it was missing a muffler the van is so loud. The only area where the Sienna excels is its radar cruise control, far and away the best of the 3. But the second row seats don't collapse into the floor like the Chrysler nor remove like the Honda, greatly reducing usability as a hauler. The seats in the Chrysler and Honda are more comfortable for long rides, and the ride and handling are far better. In addition, the Toyota's telematics are at least one, if not two generations behind. It takes forever to get Apple CarPlay to start; with the other two it is instantaneous (and the Chrysler is even wireless). I can see no reason to even consider this van when there are two far better choices. But if you're looking for an 8 passenger Lawn Boy this is your van!

Serious Breaking Issues
I purchased a new 2022 Sienna XLE Hybrid in Sept 2022 after an accident totaled my 2014 Sienna. At that time the wait for a new Sienna was 8 months due to supply issues. Dealers had marked up new vehicles 10K - they loved price gouged their customers. There was not even a Sienna around to test drive because they were all pre-sold. Soon after starting to drive the car I noticed a braking issue. Sometimes the breaks will "give" when you are braking to stop. It is very unsettling when this happens. After some research I see that it is a common complaint from Sienna Hybrid customers and a serious safety issue. This vehicle has less space and does not handle as good as my 2014 - which I loved. Today (my vehicle is 11 months old and has 22k miles on it) I will be taking my van into the Toyota shop for the 4th time this year due to a wiring issue. Next week I will loose $10,000 by trading this vehicle in and will never buy another Toyota again.

Literally wouldn’t know!!!
Purchased new. At 960 miles dashboard kept lighting up that several sensors were unavailable. Toyota said my undercarriage was dirty and sensors are sensitive - but they replaced. Couldn’t drive more than 10 minutes in anything other than pristine weather or the sensors shut off (currently in a 2021 Sienna rental and can confirm that this hasn’t happened ONCE so it’s the specific car not the model. At 5k miles car needed to be jumped everyday for 4 days. Toyota couldn’t figure out the problem after being there for 6 hours and sent me home ‘to give them a call if I have to get it jumped again.’ While I was there I asked for assistance with syncing the app to my phone (for remote start/locking features) and to show me how to work the tv. Three people tried to figure it out before leaving it at ‘let them look into it and get back to me.’ Next day car wouldn’t even take a jump and had to be towed in. Day 13 in the shop and they can’t figure out what is going on, and unfortunately because there ‘isn’t a tangible issue found’ they are at the mercy of waiting for Toyota to come up with a resolution. Toyota tells the dealer they need to find the problem. Vicious cycle with no resolution or end in sight for us, no one taking responsibility. Can’t order a new one because ‘everyone is at the mercy of whatever Toyota sends them.’ Such a mess, we are heartbroken after spending the time, energy, and money to purchase a new van.

Waiting,. Waiting......Not waiting
Was on the waiting list for a new Sienna to replace a 2008 Odyssey. Wanted the space of a van and the MPG of a hybrid. Didn't want to pay more $ for less space and get a hybrid SUV. Finally had a chance to test drive a Sienna and what a disappointment it was. Compared to the old Odyssey it was cramped inside. Definitely not as roomy, to the point that I would not want to make a road trip in it. I'm not picky when it comes to road noise, so I didn't think that would be an issue, but it was. On the highway it was very noticeable, even to the point of aggravating. Then there was the vibration. My wife and daughter could not stand the way their seats vibrated. My daughter was in her booster seat with a back and I could see the top of the seat vibrating very noticeably. And the vibration was noticeable in the empty third row seats too. After a 25 minute test drive it was good to get out of the vehicle and stand on solid ground. All those issues were even more noticeable when we got back in our 08 Odyssey and drove away. It was smooth. It was quiet. It was roomy. And it was relaxing and peaceful. Needless to say, I promptly removed my name from the waiting list and bought a Honda. I'm giving up some MPG, but it is well worth it. And compared to my 08 Odyssey, the new vehicle is smoother and quieter, like you would expect a new vehicle to be.

Fuel gauge problems
I had driven an XLE model, which I wouldn't entertain in a million years. To have basic vinyl seats in a car and give them a fancy name is ridiculous in this day and age. But it drove okay and felt comfortable enough. So we waited (and waited!) until a Platinum became available with leather seats. We wanted the cooled seats as. well as heated seats. And a heated steering wheel. And here's the first complaint - why isn't the steering wheel heated all the way round? It's only heated at the 9-3 position, and it's a nerve calling it heated. Lightly warm should be the description. Compared to my Tahoe, which I had to turn off it got so hot. But small potatoes. I just can't get comfortable in the driver's seat. The right bolster digs into my back, and I'm not built like Oliver Hardy. Why didn't Toyota make the passenger seat 8-way adjustable like the driver's seat? My wife sits up too high and doesn't feel comfortable in it. Again, first world problems. However - and here comes the big one! - the fuel gauge isn't working properly. Right from the minute I drove it off the lot. I thought I was getting great gas mileage because the fuel gauge wasn't moving. Then one day we got in and the needle had dropped down to half a tank. Okay, that's strange, I thought. Filled it up. It did it again. And again. Then the miles to empty reading would be all over the place - I would drive 40 miles and the DTE would drop by 160 miles. One day, the car said it had 3/4 of a tank. I was running the car because it was hot outside, and cleaning the top of the steering wheel housing, when I saw the needle drop from 3/4 down to 1/4, right before my eyes. The car had been running for five minutes. It did it again after I started the car remotely (note to Toyota - why have the car turn off when we open the door? Keep it running!) I took it in to a dealership and they said they had reflashed something. It didn't work. I took it back again, and this time they checked for codes! And asked if a tech could take it on a fmaily road trip for Memorial Day, still around 150 miles on it to see how it acts. No! If I want sticky little finger ,arks all over my backseats and have a dog puke in the car, I can manage that all by myself, thanks. They marked on the service sheet I declined a road test! No, I declined to have the interior of my car wrecked by possible rowdy kids. That's what rental cars are for. The fuel gauge did the same thing again. I took it back to the dealer where I bought it, a lot further away. They couldn't fix it but told me to bring it back and they'd get Toyota tech involved. They would drop the gas tank and take things apart to try to fix the issue. They had it one day and I got the call to pick it up. Toyota told them to reset the system, because Toyota knows this is an issue on the Sienna Hybrid! Google how a fuel gauge is reset. If some of the ways is the same as Toyota reset mine, they should be ashamed. This car should never have left the factory with a broken fuel gauge, and I also paid over sticker for this car as we wanted to keep it for a while. Not now. We go out with the car and are expecting the needle to drop like a stone. We were going to do a road trip in this car, but not now. We don't want to be stranded. Nice car but not worth the money. It's only saving race is, the dogs can get in easily. Maybe they'll write a better review. ** I should say this is the 2022 model, not the '21.

Several problems in the Sienna 2022
When the temperature rises and you try to open the windows in the rear seats, it makes an annoying sound like a screeching or whistling sound. I went several times to the Toyota service department and they couldn't solve the problem, and there are also traces of friction on the driver's side window and I don't know the reason and they also didn't fix it and there are noise or sound problems The air when I reach the speed is more than 60 miles and also the screen freezes or disconnects when you try to connect it to the iPhone and the engine sound is annoying, you feel when you increase the speed that the sound is coming from below from under your feet

Perfect Family Hauler - Long term review
I have this car for about 20 months and it has been great. I have mostly positive things to say about it. I family person and need space to haul kids and make long trips across the country. In hindsight I like my decision to go with this car and I will do it again if I have to do it today. I am male and I don't care people's perception about driving van which is typically associated with soccer mom's kind of image. Its very comfortable vehicle with advanced safety tech and built with Toyota quality Pros: 1. Ample power to do the Job, I wouldn't call it slow by any means, Enough to do its job. 2. Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 seems to work well 3. The van drives more like a car 4. Capable AWD certainly helps and I have it used it multiple times in lot of snow successfully 5. When you have family you need tons of cargo space and there is no lack of it here. Cons: 1. I got woodland edition thinking to get an inch of ground clearance but loading the van the rear bottoms down. I might want to get it lifted with journey off road kit. You might also have problem if you have steep driveway 2. The heat is kind of finicky, It works but not as hot at 73 like other cars may be its the hybrid engine, Its not consistent . May be its thermostat or something, I plan to get it checked 3. Toyota woodland package is not good value for money. I would suggest to get XSE instead and get it lifted couple inches with kit (Journey's off road)

My Favorite Vehicle EVER!
I traded in my Mercedes a 2017 GLE 350 LOADED for this mini-van for a 9,000 mile road trip around the USA. Best decision ever! Much more comfortable and averaged 35mpg regular unleaded and when wife drove even better. Our's is the Platinum All Wheel Drive Model. NO PROBLEMS. Didn't even need the usual new car adjustments. Everything perfect out of the gate. I have been driving for over 48 years have had NEW Mercedes, BMW, Lexus and even Chrysler, Honda Mini Vans, SUVs, etc. NOTHING holds a candle to this 2022 Toyota Sienna. More room than our old Suburban and handles way better not to mention costs half to drive. The only negative is the Mini-van stigma. Even though Toyota was shooting for more of an SUV styling, people (especially my adult kids) just don't get it. Financially, I can drive just about anything I want and this is my dream vehicle! I hope and pray folks will get over the min-van stereotype for their sake! UPDATE: My wife and I are 64 years old with no kids at home and love this van for the room, comfort and gas mileage. Our's is the 2022 Platinum with all the bells and whistles and AWD. We took it on a 9,000 mile road trip over 3 months with Zero problems. More comfortable than our GLE 350 Mercedes SUV with much more room. When I drove we averaged 35 mpg. When my wife drove about 37mpg. I could write a book about how much I love this van!

Just Replaced a 2010 Sienna with a 2022 Sienna
March 2022 - We have been looking around Central Florida for a 2022 "Red" Sienna for a few months. They are in very limited supply! We finally found one but had to pay almost 10% over the Suggested Manufacturers Price. We also sold our 2010 Sienna for almost $8,000 more than the dealers offer. We are happy with the 2022 Sienna and all of the current safety feathers. The horsepower, while less than the 2010, the performance of the 2022 is fine; not noticeably less. It does feel larger. The one thing that we feel is a negative is storage. The opening between the seats is nice but too open. We placed a plastic box there to store "stuff" that previously was in one of the three glove boxes (two in front of the passenger and one below the passenger seat) in our old 2010 Sienna. In addition, the little hiding places next to the third row of seats are gone. So far, we are getting around 34 mpg driving around town. Overall, we like the new 2022 XLE. Now, after a month of ownership, we still like the 2022 Sienna. We have noticed that it doesn't have a compass. The heating and cooling controls are also difficult to control while driving ... we just can't quickly see the correct button to press. We probably will get used to that. While our 2010 drove like a car, the 2022 drives more like a large SUV. We are getting used to the large car feel. Currently, our best mpg was just over 40. We are still happy with the Sienna; it just will take a little time to get used to all the "bells and whistles" and controls in the vehicle. Now, after a year, we are comfortable with the controls, but still miss the compass. We had one major issue with the car. There appeared to be a communication issue with the computers in the car but after discussing the problem with Toyota, and two weeks of waiting for a repair and $3,000 of warranty work ... all is well. The bottom line is that we are happy with the purchase and plan to own the car for a long time. After 18 months of ownership, all is well. We enjoy driving the minivan, the mpg is averaging around 36 and we have had no additional issues. This was a good purchase! We plan to enjoy it for many years in the future. Now after two years of ownership, we are very happy with the 2010 Sienna. We took a six hour drive to northwestern Florida a few weeks ago and got between 36 and 40 miles per gallon. The Sienna is a great highway vehicle and is very comfortable on long drives. We like it.

Much more Camry-like than a Rav4
Basically drives like a Camry station wagon; i.e. ride is smooth and quiet (except engine is noisy during hard acceleration). A Rav4, by contrast, rides rougher and is much noisier. Only two negatives of the Sienna are its complicated climate controls confounded by tiny icons that are hard to decipher and seats that could use more padding. I got 32 MPG in mixed city-highway driving.
Easily the best vehicle I've ever owned
This van is outstanding. I have an XSE AWD w/ Tech package. I'm so impressed by the build quality, smooth ride, and nearly silent interior. I use Eco mode and rarely hear the engine. If you put your foot into it, it will growl, but it's not obtrusive and doesn't last long. I will be driving this vehicle for many years!

Great family vehicle
We have had our Sienna Limited for 4 months and put just over 3k miles on it. We have 3 kids (twin 8 yr olds and a 2.5 yr old) and had a 2019 Escalade that we traded in due to maintenance and gas costs. We love our Sienna so far although I do miss the Escalade V8 power (but not the gas bill). The Sienna has a nice, smooth, quiet ride. JBL sound system is very good. The entertainment system works great with my Ipad adapter HDMI hookup and let us watch all of my Apple TV movies. The interior is nice, comfortable, and spacious (more legroom the the Escalade). I think it is far and away the best looking minivan out there.
MINIVAN CONVERT!
Never owned a minivan before. I have however owned several toyotas. Outside of Prius, the Sienna is the best Toyota I have ever owned. The 2022 LE is all I needed, as I am not in need of bells and whistles. To make a long review short: You don't have to fight with this vehicle. Everyone fits, Everything fits. The gas mileage is amazing. I do not understand the complaints in the reviews. Maybe its because the LE trim is the most basic that I do not have any problems. I may never sell this thing! ***UPDATE*** 2 Years later with 32k miles and its still problem free. Average about 37mpg in the winter and closer to 40mpg in the summer. Its the best car I have ever had, and I have had about 50 cars.

sliding doors a disaster
Leave the door open and forget it and when you come back none of the 5 buttons will work. You have to strong arm it closed. Also the second row seats can't be removed as they can in the chrysler or the Odyssey. Never again. miss my Odyssey. so does my Rottweiler.
Hybrid platinum
This is my 4th sienna. Love the mpg. Recently had a thousand mile trip. Enjoyed every mile of the trip.

Very unhappy about a few things
1.Remote start SUCKS. You have to be right on top of the vehicle and even then it hardly works. 2. I can't use the GPS. It takes you the long and wrong way all the time 3. The shifter throws the vehicle down into 4 speed ALL the time. Have to flip over to keep it in 6 speed. 4. Gets between 34.5-38 miles per gal. Changes all the time.

Used to own Real Estate Office; Used them to drive families around looking at houses. Great vehicles! Retired, bought a Prius, then Honda Fit to tow behind motorhome. Bought current 2022 for comfort and room. This is the best one yet!! Lots of comfort and 38 miles per gallon! Plus the new safety suite is awesome!! Best car yet!

Family and I feel real safe and secure with our purchase. Toyota has come a long way with safety features. Excellent Job by the sales rep Larry from Toyota of York in putting his heart and passion in showing us the vehicles features.

Good but lacking
It's a hybrid which is awesome. But why didn't Toyota go future. Making it a plug in, Chrysler did it. Not having the same technology as Toyota does.
