Known problem with Mass Air Flow Sensor. Had Rav4 one day after driving home from dealer. Check Engine Lite Return To Dealer came on 40 hours after owning car. Towed to nearest Toyota Dealer. Told by service rep this is a known problem, no part in stock. Engineers trying to figure out why. Been in dealer service dept longer than in my driveway. Told could be weeks or months. Screwed in Florida

I purchased a brand new 2020 RAV4 at the end of May. Don't let the sleek design fool you. This car has been nothing but a pain for me. I did not drive my car over Memorial Day weekend only to return to a dead car. Dealership kept it for almost two weeks trying to find the problem. They magically fixed it, only for it to go dead on me again in August after not driving for a week. They "updated the software" and handed it back over to me. Went out of town on Halloween weekend and came home to a dead vehicle. They "fixed it" again for me. I am currently working with a Lemon Lawyer to get a refund and will be purchasing the 2021 Nissan Rogue because the design is so similar to this car. I personally know three other people with new 2020 RAV4s who are having the exact same problem. DO. NOT. WASTE. YOUR. MONEY. ON. THIS. CAR.

A Primitive Driving & Riding Experience

I rented a new XLE that has only 240 miles on it. Immediately upon starting and driving the first time I became aware of the loud, unrefined engine. Then when I got going the amount of road and tire noise is shocking for a 2020 vehicle - it's about on par with my 31 year old Toyota Corolla station wagon. Next I started noticing how hard the drivers seat is and how short the seat bottom is, hence my thighs were not supported. Lastly, I noticed that even though I was driving the XLE version, the door panels were 100% hard plastic, just as one would expect on the base model. All is not bad, however. The windshield and side windows are large, giving a panoramic view. The cargo room is generous. But the vehicle is simply not suitable for long distance driving because of the lack of sound insulation and hard seats. The Buick Encore SUV is smaller than the RAV4, yet has a far quieter ride and softer, more comfy seats so long distance driving is no problem.

Great SUV

Great SUV. I read all the reviews and went ahead a bought a 2020 RAV 4 Hybrid despite some concerns related to complaints from other owners. Happy to say that most of the complaints have proven untrue in my opinion. I got the limited trim and it is true luxury. Plenty of power (for a 4 cyl engine) and you can move to sport mode for those time you need a little extra power. Lots of cargo space with the seats down and great mileage. The lane departure does fight you if it's on but with a click of a button its off. It does make a lot of noise when you put it in reverse but I am pretty sure that's so pedestrians can hear you and it is not that loud in the car. My vehicle has the premium JBL audio and all I can say is WOW!!

This is a great car, drives well and I especially like the ability to shift gears manually. There is no CD player, but I could live without and use my phone. I travel a lot, and am buying to upgrade the cargo space from a Matrix. The back seats of the RAV4 do not fold down all the way, and they slant quite a bit....so much so that boxes, dog, etc. slide backwards. Both the hybrid and the regular models have this problem. I was told the 2018 does not. Too bad, as I wanted to get a RAV4, better gas mileage then a Subaru Forester, and a little shorter. It is advertised as more cargo space then Matrix. The slant makes the cargo space even smaller the Matrix and more awkward to use. I love Toyotas...so dependable! I bought a Forester, and do love it, but my first choice was a RAV4 until I looked at one.
