Great for the price

2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid LE 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

We bought a new Rav 4 AWD LE hybrid for $24,200 out the door. You can not beat the price considering the AWD and all the safety features including BSM. It has great pick up and handles well, though the steering is a little soft. The ride in the LE is a little rough, wish it was smoother, which I believe it is in the upper models. The miles don't quite match those listed, but for an SUV there great. Best hybrid for the money.

What bugs me about my Rav4 Hybrid

Like most Rav4 Hybrids, you can't fill the gas tank. 7-9 gallons max. When backing up, it emits a loud shrill. People stop and stare. Backing out of the garage ticks me off. The roof rack does not accept aftermarket (Yakima, Thule) rails. What you see up there is pretty much decorative. You can remove the cross rails, but not adjust them. The entune system is pretty much useless. (I use CarPlay). The navigation system had me turning left to get to my dealership, but I knew I had to turn right! The drivetrain emits all kind of noises, wether slowing down or accelerating. Now that I have used it in winter conditions, I found out that the defroster blows air in the central area of the windshield, not in front of the driver, so it takes a while to clear the windshield.

Hybrid is fun, fast and comfortable with great gas mileage! Owned many Toyota models. After I cover the clothe seats (sandpaper) and modify the A/C vents to close, it will be perfect.

MPG - Paint - GasTank - DiamondFusion - 24HR +More

10,000 miles, 1 year in. Gas tank doesn't fill all the way, most people find out about this online. If you live in cooler states - terrible gas mileage - mine is ~30 mpg in city and highway. Diamond Fusion wears off very fast in wet/cooler states Radio keeps defaulting back to 24 hour time. Alexa is very slow to response, better off with Echo Auto. Tire valve stem caps become loose and fall off. Oil change at 10,000 miles cost a little over $100. They want your car every 5000 miles for maintenance or every year. (Excessive) Paint protection does not include light scratches that appear. Snotty Toyota maintenance people. Do the math on maintenance package - if you don't drive long distances in a year. All weather Toyota mats work great - but they are very hard to clean. They show the dirt badly. Driver's side mirror folds in with blower at car wash. Not passenger side. I have not located a keyhole to lock the glove box yet on passenger side. I am very surprised to see people boasting about high mpg, then speckled in are reviews like mine. Warmer weather does help mpg, but advertising in cooler states 40mpg and seeing it on the odometer when you buy, makes me wonder if I was tricked. This should be illegal - should be within a certain % at least, in my opinion, to be fair. There are very basic things which need to be worked out before selling this car. I don't care for the excuses, my last cars did get 40mpg and 50mpg here in my cooler state. Makes me wonder why this truck does not. Hope this helps others. It certainly would have helped me.

I think I made a mistake!

We previously bought a 2019 Subaru Forester Touring edition which came loaded! We paid $6000 more for the Rav 4 Hybrid Limited edition and it came without the cold weather package and without the technology package. The interior of the Forester is better laid out with intuitive controls and also easier to operate. The perforated leather seats in the forester are luxurious and comfortable whereas the simulated leather seats in the Rav 4 are not so plush and the passenger seat doesn't have electric adjustment controls. The information conveyor on the Rav4 sticks up on the dash like the top half of a laptop computer which disrupts the interior lines of the dash. The lettering in the speedometer area of the vehicle has a font size practically requiring a magnifying glass for readability. I Was disappointed in the gas milage getting about 31- 32 mpg on a 600 mile trip. Toyota advertises 38 on the road and 41 in city driving. One saving grace for the Rav4 Hybrid is the power is sufficient and a bit more spirited than our Forester. Nevertheless had I to do it over again I think I'd buy another Touring Forester or perhaps an Outback
